Tesla starts selling its own car insurance in California Posted: 28 Aug 2019 06:26 PM PDT https://www.cnbc.com/2019/08/28/tesla-starts-selling-its-own-car-insurance-in-california.html Tesla launched Tesla Insurance in California on Wednesday. Musk told shareholders in an earnings call in April that Tesla would be launching its own auto insurance product in May. Warren Buffett has criticized this move, and predicted that Tesla will struggle as it ventures into auto insurance, a field in which Berkshire Hathaway thrives. [link] [comments] |
The number of Americans who 'super commute' is on the rise Posted: 28 Aug 2019 05:07 AM PDT The number of Americans who "super commute" (travel 90 minutes or more to work each day, each way) is on the rise. According to county-level data compiled by Apartmentlist.com from 2005 to 2017, the number of "super commuters" grew by 32%. That is more than triple the 9% growth rate for those with commutes shorter than 90 minutes. "In places like New York and San Francisco, where generally super commuting tends to be a symptom of really rapid economic growth, — where there's tons of jobs being added, but there's not enough new housing. And so housing costs get really expensive, and folks get pushed out to the peripheries of the metro," he explained. "In the Midwest region, what you're seeing is really almost the opposite, where it's kind of a region that's seeing a long term decline economically. So folks are driving further and further to get to the opportunities that are left." [link] [comments] |
Is this legit? Site called "Jellybean" claims to pay you to make stock market predictions.... Posted: 28 Aug 2019 08:00 PM PDT https://www.thejellybean.club/ I'm always a bit skeptical about this stuff... They seem to have thousands of users already so I assume some of you are members and can fill me in. From what I understand, this platform allows you to make daily predictions on 5 pre-selected stocks. If your predictions are accurate you get a cash reward at the end of the day. If your guess is incorrect, there's no penalty... There's no fee to sign up and no monthly membership fee. I'm just not sure how this model is feasible? How do they make money? I just created my account and submitted predictions for tomorrow. I'll follow up EOD tomorrow with the results... tldr; Jellybean pays you for making accurate stock market predictions. Too good to be true? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Aug 2019 09:22 AM PDT Had some success with 295 calls yesterday. Will it continue to rise? Despite some difficulties with the opening store in Shanghai, the company looks like a promising future to Chinese middle class households. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Aug 2019 10:30 AM PDT Annaly has been hammered over the last few weeks and dropping over 14%. Is this due to the inverted yield curve? It has really taken a hit over the past few days, but I see no new news about it. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 28 Aug 2019 05:05 AM PDT Been working for Whole Foods for about 7 years now and during that time Amazon bought the company. One of the transition perks were employees with over 6000 hours received a one time RSU stock to keep or sell. I plan to sell and would like to know what is a RSU, what is vesting, and how long will it take to receive that money once they sell it? [link] [comments] |

Need advice on Inherited stocks Posted: 28 Aug 2019 07:55 AM PDT My grandpa passed away a couple months ago and left me with some stocks. I'm completely new to stocks and the markets and not sure what to do from here. Since receiving them I've been trying to learn as much as possible on my own but with the markets being so volatile right now it seems like everything I read contradicts the last thing I've read. With all this uncertainty I'm constantly second guessing what I should do from here. I know Reddit is all opinions too but I'm hoping for some more specific guidance to my situation. Hopefully this all makes sense... It's a TDA account with my total positions just over 45k w/ -20k margin balance. Positions: 80 x AMGN 192 x CVX 40 x HOLX 40 x IONS 18 x LNT 8 x NTR 8 X PRU Ideally I'd like to eliminate the margin balance and leave the remainder but I'm unsure if this is the right choice or if I should just sell off everything and think about reinvesting once some off this volatility settles. Any advice is much appreciated. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 28 Aug 2019 01:18 AM PDT Bear with me as I don't understand too much of the stock market. I'm in the middle of my first book and I've learned that EPS value year by year should always increase by a minimum of 17% to spot out solid stocks. Yet I looked at a stock I previously held (Walmart) and see that they've not only had a lack of increase of EPS but a fairly steep decline year by year. By no means would I buy Walmart now or am claiming that their current stock price is insane but if I had held on Walmart stocks that I purchased two years ago I'd have a decent profit at this point. I suppose my confusion lies in the fact that it seems there are no rules with this. My little education on stocks thus far tells me rising EPS = high stock price and declining = low. What's the deal? Is this an outlier? Are there too many factors to take into account to justify paying attention to EPS? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Aug 2019 11:39 PM PDT Has anyone used Kyle Dennis' new strategy called Dollar Ace from Raging Bull? He shows lots of his clients winning lately. Says he made a scanner that shows him insider trading like people placing big amounts of money on trades and also selling large amounts of their stock. [link] [comments] |
