Disney won’t hurt Netflix by stealing subscribers — but it will make it harder for Netflix to raise prices

Disney announced Wednesday it will bundle Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ for $12.99 per month.

The Disney bundle pricing is the same cost per month as Netflix's standard offering.

While Disney's bundle may not cause many people to switch from Netflix to Disney, it could limit Netflix's ability to raise prices

How would a stock market crash affect "working poor" Americans?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 10:16 AM PDT

If anyone replies, keep it in simple terms please. I have no knowledge of stocks. When I say, "working poor" Americans I mean people who live paycheck to paycheck, no 401K's.

Top Pharmaceutical Stocks To Watch This August

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 05:58 PM PDT

China's pharmaceutical sector is growing at nearly 10% a year primarily driven by domestic consumption and government support. It is a safe bet for investors at a time of market uncertainties due to the US-China trade war and China's economic slowdown.

The government expects about 25% of the population to be aged over 60 by 2030, compared to just over 17% at the end of 2017. That means a greater need for medicines for a wide range of diseases.

In light of the strong fundamentals of the sector, here are some top pharmaceutical stocks to watch this month.

    Sino Biopharmaceutical (HKEX:1177)
The company is China's second largest drug maker by sales. The inclusion of some of the company's key products in the catalogue of centralised drug procurement have driven strong sales growth. The company is also continuing its cooperation with academic institutions for several oncology products, an area where the company has seen sensational performance. The company's strong growth potential can be seen in its Q1 2019 revenue which grew over 33% year on year.

China Brilliant Global Limited (HKEX: 8026)
The company's pharmaceutical business recorded over 25% increase in revenue for the year ended 31 March 2019 compared to the year before, led by an increase in sales of pharmaceutical products to hospitals. This was made possible due to strong business relationships with target pharmaceutical companies, chain pharmacies and target hospitals from western Guangdong. The company is scaling its business by leveraging on its existing relationships and comprehensive distribution channel.

Fosun Pharma (SSE: 600196, HKEX: 2196)
The company's 2018 revenue grew over 34% year on year, led by new acquisition of enterprises and organic growth. The company's massive R&D pipeline will be able to bear fruit in the future, as can be seen by the 44% increase in R&D expenses in 2018 . A number of its monoclonal antibody drugs have entered into the clinical research phase. In addition, the company continues to promote innovative R&D through various ways, including setting up incubation platforms.

    Trading Platform Recommendations/Insight?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 11:39 AM PDT

Hey everyone, I'm fairly new to the stock trading world and I'm trying to determine which trading platform, or combination of platforms, I should go with. I've googled comparison reviews of different brokerage accounts across multiple companies and wanted to get some of your insight on what you guys have found to be helpful or optimal for trading.

So far, I've liked the idea of creating a Fidelity account to be able to use its research/education tools while using Robinhood to actually place trades for $0 since i'm new to the game. The only thing I've seen about Robinhood's features that I don't like is that it doesn't seem to have nearly as many trading options as other platforms. In regards to Fidelity, I'm concerned that If I open an account strictly for access to their research/tools, do I have to worry about it being shutdown for inactivity? TD Ameritrade also intrigues me because it looks like they have quite a few types of investment options, unlike Robinhood.

Ultimately, I would like a combination of having a wide variety of investment options, quality research/education tools, DRIP, and the ability to purchase fractional shares independent of DRIP. Does a platform like this even exist (or perhaps a combination of platforms)?

What have you guys found to work well for you and why?

P.S. I'm also going to check out yahoo finance for alerts/portfolio tracking unless you guys have recommendations for that as well.

    Investing in the alcohol business?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 01:29 PM PDT

I don't know much about investment. I know I should diversify my investments. I plan to make an investment of 8000+ dollars at the end of this year.

The industry I know most about is tech but I've had an interest in the alcohol business as well.

Does anyone have any insight on how it operates? What I should look for and how I can find out more about it?

    Consumer Staple ETF’s

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 08:00 AM PDT

20M college student looking to invest 3-4K. Since I am young I am ok with higher risk levels, and am expecting to hold whatever I buy for 5-10 years. All the whispers of an upcoming recession (which are valid AFAIK) have me hesitant to just slap it all in a S&P500 fund like VFINX and call it a day.

I am not experienced enough to pick single stocks just yet. Real estate is supposed to be a good way to protect yourself from bear markets, but I don't feel like I have enough money to get started in anything other than an REIT. With that in mind, would the next best thing not be Consumer Staple ETF's? Thought process being that with declining wages and layoffs people increase spending of inferior goods. Consumer Discretionary / whole market funds get hit hard as consumer choices shift but in the end everyone will still be wanting toilet paper and toothbrushes. Seems like a good choice to buy in now, if nothing happens and the market keeps going up the next few years you go with it, if it goes down you take smaller losses.

Any arguments against this position? Better ideas with same potential reward but even lower risk? Anything important I am not considering?

In terms of performance and fees, whats the best IRA?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 09:00 AM PDT

In terms of performance and fees, what is the best IRA for a 30 year old? I'm interested in the tax benefits, along with leaving money for an extended period of time, to do whatever it would like to do, over that long time horizon. For my trading, I'm generally a day trader, with some swings mixed in, which makes it difficult for me to stay in long-term positions so I was wanting to open an IRA. Which is better, Roth or Traditional? Are you allowed to pick your individual stocks in an IRA? Any help would greatly be appreciated from this IRA/401K newbie :D!

Thoughts on buying Take Two Interactive? (TTWO)

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 01:26 AM PDT

Following the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 the price dropped quite a bit but it's been up for the past 6 months. Obviously RDR2 won't be nearly as profitable as GTAV has been in the coming years but later this year Borderlands 3 releases under 2K and eventually GTA 6 of course. What do you think?

    Who to buy stock through?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2019 11:45 PM PDT

I want to start getting into the stock market and I know that now is a good time. I want to start with some safe mutual funds and eventually when I have the money (only 19), start putting some into different companies that I've watched over the past months. So my question is what is a good way to build up my portfolio. I know there is apps for it but they cost a lot to use. There is also fidelity and I've even heard of people having licenses and doing it themselves but I don't know how to go about that.
