Burger King’s Impossible Whopper: Here’s what eaters are saying Posted: 08 Aug 2019 06:04 PM PDT "The reason why is the texture," he said. "It's very hard to mimic, in a lab, the way real meat is... I do love Beyond, but Impossible beats it because of the texture." Another diner echoed the same sentiment. "I like Impossible better [than Beyond]. It tastes more like meat. I gave up red meat about 10 years ago, and the one thing I missed the most was hamburgers. The Impossible burger brings back that nostalgia." However, competition isn't the only issue that the alternative-meat producers are facing. Customers have already begun reporting shortages at their location restaurants that serve Impossible burgers. Yahoo Finance reached out to Impossible Foods to ask about how the company plans to meet the spiking demand. [link] [comments] |
Tesla owner lawsuit claims software update fraudulently cut battery capacity Posted: 08 Aug 2019 06:02 PM PDT https://finance.yahoo.com/news/tesla-hit-lawsuit-claiming-thousands-215421099.html SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - A Tesla Inc owner has filed a lawsuit against the electric vehicle maker, claiming the company limited the battery range of older vehicles via a software update to avoid a costly recall to fix what plaintiffs allege are defective batteries. The lawsuit filed on Wednesday in Northern California federal court alleges fraud and seeks class action status for the potentially "thousands" of such Model S and X owners around the world who have seen the range of their older-generation batteries suddenly curtailed, some by as much as 40 miles (64 km). New to investing. Why would anyone buy a Put out of the money? Posted: 08 Aug 2019 07:41 AM PDT Hello, still learning about everything and have a few questions im hoping someone can clear up. I understand calls and why someone might buy a $85 on a $80 strike for pennys on the dollor but why would someone buy a Put at $85 for a $80 strike if were expecting it to go down? Lets say i buy it for $85 and it drops to $70 like i thought. Why would my $85 put be worth anything if the price is at $70? There as to be something im missing.. [link] [comments] |

Amazon-FedEx split draws battle lines in online delivery feud Posted: 08 Aug 2019 08:36 AM PDT FedEx Corp's retreat from handling packages for Amazon.com Inc signals that the lines are being drawn in the battle over surging e-commerce shipments. The end of two delivery contracts with Amazon means FedEx will have to make up for the lost sales by extending a push to serve other customers such as Walmart Inc. Amazon will have to rely more on United Parcel Service Inc and the US Postal Service as it seeks to fulfill a pledge for next-day delivery to top customers – and build out its own shipping network. Without details on how much Amazon is paying per package, it's unclear who's positioned for the biggest gains in the shakeup. If the price is low, UPS's profit margins would be squeezed even as revenue rises. If the amount is in line with what other big customers pay, then FedEx walked away from profitable business that it will have to recoup elsewhere. [link] [comments] |

Top 4 Gold Stocks To Watch As Gold Price Tops $1,500 Posted: 08 Aug 2019 06:10 PM PDT Gold prices topped $1,500 per ounce today for the first time in six years, extending a furious summer rally driven by drop in bond yields, central bank buying and investors shy away from volatility from global markets. Across both China and Hong Kong, gold-related stocks were up. The yellow metal's appeal has shot up in a low-interest environment, and it is also seen as a safe haven amid global geopolitical and trade tensions. Gold prices got a further boost last week after US President announced that he would increase 10% tariffs on $300 billion Chinese imports, renewing trade tensions between world's two biggest economies. Recent economic data points have further fueled those fears. The Industrial production figures for Germany for June were much weaker than analyst's expectations, signalling Europe's largest economy continues to struggle. Gold or Gold-linked stocks is a popular destination for investors during times of economic or political uncertainty. Other safe havens such as the Yen and Swiss France, have also notched big gains in recent weeks. Here are five stocks we think could be a great addition to your current portfolio. The recent increase in share price could be due to the Group's Silver Exchange Business. The Silver Exchange Business is conducted through the Shanghai Huatong, which it is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Group. Shanghai Huating is one of the largest spot exchange for silver trading in China, which serves as the general reference price for the silver industry in China. In addition, Shanghai Huatong has maintained close relationships with the largest silver producers and silver-consuming companies in China, leading investors to speculate that the share price could be highly correlated to the silver price. China Brilliant Global (8026.HK)The group's retail and wholesale business located in Shenzhen gave them a competitive edge as Shenzhen accounts for 70% of China's total jewellery sales. The strategic location of their business gives them access to more potential buyers and help lowers the cost of transportation. The group's jewellery business under the Luk Fook brand has enjoyed an increase in revenue of approximately 101% year on year, mainly due to the increase in wholesale golden jewellery products in PRC. The group intends to identify more jewellery wholesaler customers in South China, thereby expanding it's secondary gold sales agency business. Emperor Watch & Jewellery (0887.HK) The company's sales rose strongly last year, due to a rebound in tourism in the first half and the opening of new stores. Hong Kong remained the group's core market, with sales there up about 20%, while sales in Macau rose by about 22%. The company opened 15 new stores in 2018, bringing the total number of stores to 95. Net profit grew over 65% last year, due to improved margins and disciplined control over expenses. With exposure across Greater China and Southeast Asia, the company has a diversified earnings base. The company continues to focus on expansion in mainland China and plans to add another 60 stores there this year to its already broad mainland China network of 506 stores. This is a wise plan as mainland Chinese customers continue to account for about 75% of the company's revenue. In its expansion strategy, the company targets mid-end consumers and leverages on high-end shopping malls and department stores' own positioning to enhance the brand's image. It is also strengthening its online presence to further boost sales. [link] [comments] |
Looking to invest in a few specific stocks, but I can’t find the best place to do this. Posted: 08 Aug 2019 06:36 PM PDT (Fresh stock "small time" investor) I have Robinhood for small time investing, but I have a few stocks I'd like to put some cash into that aren't on Robinhood. I don't know the best place to find these stocks and safely invest into them. I was hoping for some valuable input. Anything helps. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2019 06:01 PM PDT I'd like to learn about investing and trading on the market but since I haven't looked into it before I'm not sure where to start. Are there any good online courses I should take or books I should read to start off, or is it better to learn while trading with small amounts of money to learn the process before doing anything with larger amounts? I assume trading is somewhat simple if you choose safe investments and I could be overthinking this but Id rather be safe than sorry so any help is greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
$100 In A Charles Schwab Investment Account Posted: 08 Aug 2019 01:16 PM PDT So I put $100 down to start a Charles Schwab Investment account a little while ago and I can't withdraw it, transfer it, or do pretty much anything with it at the moment. Not sure why..... Anyway, seeing as the money is literally stuck in the account I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. I'm dumb but I'm no nimrod. I know that $100.00 isn't going to transform my life and won't stretch very far on the market. Curious minds are wondering though, what would you put that $100 into? How would you invest it? Interactive broker/trading under somebodys supervision Posted: 08 Aug 2019 02:00 PM PDT Im curious about everybodys views on interactive brokers and trading under a more experienced trader for a commission fee. I was recently referred to a guy who works on an interactive broker doing "challenges" in which you watch him trading live and trade under his supervision. His fee is 30%. The way i see it his fee plus capital gains tax im looking at holding 40% profit at the end of the year. That i can swallow if im making money instead of losing(ive been losing), but i just see scam written all over it. Is this a possible scam or am i overreacting? [link] [comments] |
