A 22-year-old has been arrested in an alleged scam of the largest internet retailer that totaled nearly $370,000 by sending return packages filled with dirt.

The return packages would end up sitting around in Amazon's warehouses where they aren't checked often. The scam wasn't discovered until through a random search where someone opened a box and discovered it was full of dirt.

Tesla has slashed and struggled with its solar business after acquiring SolarCity for $2.6 billion in 2016.

Warren Buffett's startegy when markets sell off

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 06:38 PM PDT

Warren Buffett: 'Don't watch the market closely' Even dramatic shifts in the market don't have to be cause for concern, legendary investor and Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett says. Stick to the basics.

"Don't watch the market closely," he told CNBC in 2016 amid wild market fluctuations. "If they're trying to buy and sell stocks, and worry when they go down a little bit … and think they should maybe sell them when they go up, they're not going to have very good results." Buffett wrote:

"During such scary periods, you should never forget two things: First, widespread fear is your friend as an investor, because it serves up bargain purchases. Second, personal fear is your enemy. It will also be unwarranted. Investors who avoid high and unnecessary costs and simply sit for an extended period with a collection of large, conservatively-financed American businesses will almost certainly do well."

In other words, don't fall victim to widespread panic and begin selling off stocks, because wealth-generating investments are long term.

    US-China Trade War

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 08:16 PM PDT

I was reading a piece today from Yahoo that had a lot of Gordon Chang in it. The guys off his meds saying China's GDP is going to be below 2% this year, who keeps giving this guy a voice?..

Anyway, my real question that I'm posing here is in relation to the stances these two countries are taking. What is stopping Xi Jinping and Liu He from just waiting out Trump and his presidency? Obviously there's the chance he gets another term, but we're a year away roughly from finding out if he's on his way out. I put myself in China's position and I have to believe they would view any of the democrats running as a breath of fresh air to try to work some deal out.

With that being said, do you think Trump will be willing to give more the closer the election gets for election purposes? I'd be pretty surprised if we went into the election with this still hanging over our heads.. UNLESS Trump continues to keep on this hardline path.

China patiently waited 156 years to get Hong Kong back from the British Empire. They will patiently wait until Trump is out of office to get a trade deal.

$INVU has set a shareholder webinar for August, confirming announcement to be made after closing Triton deal.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 07:50 AM PDT

The other week, I think first week of July, they closed their deal with Triton. You got on the website, they say now a shareholder webinar will be in august. The last one they did in June, they announced their big acquisition and that they integrated one of their platforms with Telegram.

Anyone have a guess to what they could be announcing this time?

Characteristics of a good entry position

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 08:11 AM PDT

    Hi All,

I'm relatively new to investing and currently learning about options. I'm an operations analyst by trade and instantly gravitated towards technical analysis. Investopedia has been an amazing resource for me in terms of learning the language, different indicators, and strategies. To get my feet wet, I've also opened up a PaperTrade account on TOS whole doing the majority of my charting on TradingView. I'm trying build confidence and develop a stronger foundation — while trying not to get overwhelmed.

Would you be able to provide feedback on characteristics or criteria/checks you may have on entry positions for calls and puts? It's understandable that asking to divulge the "edge" could be frowned upon but not always the case. So, please share your thoughts in detail or not, combinations of indicators, additional resources you recommend I bookmark, and any constructive guidance.

Happy trading and enjoy the weekend!

    TIA

    Cross-listed stocks

    Posted: 01 Aug 2019 09:47 PM PDT

I was always under the impression that cross-listed stocks would have similar performance, but yesterday RY from TSE had a green day while RY from NYSE had a red day.

What's up with that? Anyone care to explain? Thanks.
