Am I been too overly cautious , expecting a crash.

So basically I liquidated all stock holdings, locked it I to a C.D. , redirected my 401k into all cash . I suspect that this market has been topping for 6 months now and that a major correction (-30%) is on the horizon sometime between now and January 2020. There is so many geopolitical concerns out there along with unprecedented corporate debt which is been used to buy back stock, so insiders can offload their stock/options for huge fortunes. A weakness in earnings, the longest bull run in history, a softening housing market as demand dries up even though we have record low interest rates. I believe that we lost a generation of housing buyers (millennials) due to crippling student debt.
What's your take on this market? I know almost everyone believes in dollar cost averaging in low cost index funds but to side step a major correction would be better. No I dont have a crystal ball, just more than a hunch.

    10 Lessons on Moats

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 07:35 PM PDT

    Source: https://musingzebra.com/10-lessons-on-moats/

    1. Moat is independent of market size

The common misunderstanding for moat like scale economies is that it only exist in large markets. While a company has to reach a certain size to achieve scale advantage, it is in relative to the size of its competitors, not the size of the market. A company that is 5 times larger than its second competitor has a scale advantage regardless of its size relative to the entire market. And most of the time, it is easier to achieve scale economies in small markets than a global market. Just as a small town can only fit one newspaper firm, it is easier to achieve scale economies and defend that advantage in a smaller market because other competitors have to gain a substantial market share gain to achieve minimum efficient scale (MES). In contrast, in a global market, each competitor only needs a small gain in market share to achieve MES. Therefore, making it harder for any incumbent to have a superior advantage over the other.

Stocks React to Fed and Tariffs - August 2019 Market Environment

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 01:56 PM PDT

    • Stocks are falling after the Fed announced disappointing monetary policy to investors.
    • In addition, Trump announced a new round of tariffs that sent stocks in a tail-spin.
      • This happened in May, and sent stocks lower by -7.5% in the S&P 500 and Dow; -10% in the Nasdaq.
    • The new round of tariffs are going to have a negative effect on the consumer, a section of the economy that was minimally affected by previous tariffs.
    • Institutional investor positioning preceded the decline, providing clear warnings, and signaling more selling pressure ahead.
    • There is a lot of uncertainty in the global economy, the trade war, and future monetary policy.

    Opinions On My Portfolio

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 01:32 PM PDT

    https://m1.finance/PcS2q\_CV4

I currently have $3,500 invested in my Portfolio stretched between 15 different stocks and on Monday will be investing an additional $6,500 into 14 additional stocks. I am trying to play things very safe and be diverse however one of my main concerns is that I am simply too diverse with myself investing in 29 different stocks with $10,000.

    My main questions are

    1. Am I too diversified?
    2. I am concerned about a few of the stocks I am investing in with the most prominent being GWPH & ADVM however there are a few others i am concerned about. Which of the stocks that I have invested in do you think were good choices and which ones are in your own opinion too risky?
    3. The 14 additional stocks I will be investing in are not purchased yet as such I can change my plans to invest in them.
    4. Any other opinions on my portfolio.

    Thank you!
