I just celebrated a year of being an LLC! Posted: 25 Aug 2019 02:59 PM PDT It has had its ups and downs, but mostly ups! I love being my own boss and I love my job. For those of you who need a little encouragement, take that leap and go for it! [link] [comments] |
Does anyone know of resources other than Alibaba to buy factory direct? Posted: 25 Aug 2019 06:19 AM PDT Every time I search the internet to buy bulk goods from a factory the main result I get is Alibaba, which is fine but I want to know what any other options are out there? [link] [comments] |
Customer refuses to pay us $500 we are owed - What are our options? Posted: 25 Aug 2019 04:49 PM PDT We are a small business that supplies to retail locations in a major city. Our terms are generally 30 days. We have one customer who refuses to pay their outstanding bill, and ignores all correspondence regarding the issue more than six months later. Although I feel like most of the replies will be to write it off, I would like to know our best option for making sure they are reported/made to pay etc. We refused further service due to horrendous behavior displayed to one of our staff members and chronic late/non payment [link] [comments] |
How many concepts did you have planned out before opening your business? Posted: 26 Aug 2019 03:42 AM PDT I'm always planning out different concepts for my future cafe but I don't know whether to keep growing my ideas and learn more about people or to only plan a few and work on those solely [link] [comments] |
Buying wholesale as a new company Posted: 25 Aug 2019 11:09 PM PDT Hello, I'm in Georgia and planned on selling a few items (clothes) then registering my business. I'll be buying wholesale so it seems I have to provide a sellers permit which I'm assuming I get after registering my business? Is this common? I was hoping I could sell a few items first but it seems I'll have to file some business paperwork first. [link] [comments] |
Wanting to create a website for my small town Posted: 25 Aug 2019 06:56 PM PDT Hi, This will probably be more volunteered time vs paid, but I have a strong desire to help connect our community together. I'm also just starting a consulting side - business, and this would be great to add to my portfolio. I have been trying to research if there are any problems with promoting other businesses? Or will I set myself up with a potential lawsuit if I did something incorrectly? I can't think of any, but I wanted to cross my T's and make sure I'm not missing something I shouldn't. -TP7 [link] [comments] |
Tasked with Choosing an Inventory Management System Posted: 25 Aug 2019 03:02 PM PDT Hi all. I work as the director of outbound sales for a small company that recycles/resells medical equipment and electronics. Up until now, we have handled inventory by manual entering items into a spreadsheet, and then removing them manually once they have sold. As our business has grown, this method of manual inventorying has been taking up valuable time that needs to be spent selling what we have. The owner has tasked me with coming up with an inventory managing system/software. Our sales are split about equally between B2B and B2C. Almost all of our B2C business is through eBay, and our B2B business has been done manually via Excel and GoogleDocs. I am looking for a system that has integration with eBay and with Quickbooks, our accounting software. It also needs to be able to let us create individualized inventories of specific items that we can show to our B2B clients. We are also toying with the idea of eventually creating our own online store, so integration with Shopify or other ecommerce platforms would be ideal. We are a small company with only 6 full time employees and between $600-$700k in annual revenue. We don't need a Rolls Royce system. We just need something to meet our modest needs that won't break the bank. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2019 06:54 AM PDT Hey guys/gals, Recently I made a small program for the company my wife works for. All it did was take in an excel, and spit it back out in with the format that they needed. They used to have to go in and manually combine certain fields, as well as remove some, etc... Since then, my wife has told me how much people at the office love it. It honestly feels really good. I've been working at a software company for the past couple of years, so this was a really nice change. This lead me to wanting to see if there were other small businesses out there that I could help with on these kinds of tasks. (She works for a roofing company) Most of my experience comes in web/desktop. With so many off-the-shelf solutions for businesses, I'm just curious if people would be interested in stuff like this. I will admit, it felt super rewarding helping out a small business. [link] [comments] |
I Need Some Advices On How To Expand My Business Overseas Posted: 25 Aug 2019 08:46 PM PDT Context: I'm running a Web Design and Development Agency in Vietnam ( We don't just do normal Website design, we also do things like Web App, Data Management Software, etc hence the Development part ). Currently, we mainly work with domestic customers. We also take outsourcing work for other agencies in our countries. I'm trying to expand our business to developed countries like the US, Europe, etc dues to the fact that the rate we take is obviously much lower than working with a team in a developed countries ( of course with various pros and cons ) and we provide service with comparable qualities. To address the various problems associate with working with an Agency overseas, I make sure the following: - We are fluent in English therefore no language barrier - We work to match our clients time no matter where they are in the world so no timezone barrier ( we have a big team so we rotate our work ) - We did our research and asked for advices of many agencies overseas to understand our customers and avoid making common mistakes - We make sure to let them know we did the above - Our rate is competitive, always below half that of Agency is our targeted market I've contacted and got contacted by clients, mostly agencies that want to outsource their work to us, but I haven't gotten a single successful deal. And I got no answers also, most just drop the conversation midway. Am I doing something wrong? Or is our advantages actually not that good as I have initially thought? I would love to hear from you guys, especially those that has experience outsourcing to overseas partners or outsourced their own work to an overseas contractor. Thanks for reading, I wish you all a great work week :) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Aug 2019 04:41 PM PDT We're opening up an online retail website for e-liquid (no dropshipping) and were wondering what the best platform would be for us? We were thinking Spotify but that seems more geared towards dropshipping? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Aug 2019 03:03 PM PDT The sneaker culture and retail game is growing in my city (Brisbane) so I'm thinking of getting into a side hustle reselling shoes that have either been marked down or aren't available in Australia to make them available in my home town. Does anyone have experience in this and have any useful tips? What medium do you believe is most effective? In Australia, Amazon is not that popular, so my readily options available (as do not want to create website) are Facebook Marketplace, eBay or Instagram. I'm leaning towards instagram. Open to any suggestions though! I love my shoes, so if I could benefit from gaining and keeping stock for my personal use whilst also building my inventory available, that would be awesome! It would make it feel less like an income stream, but a hobby where at the minimum I get new shoes for myself and can make dollars on the side by reselling the extra pair (in whatever other sizes I was able to obtain of that shoe). Posted: 25 Aug 2019 02:40 PM PDT Hi, I've developed two products and I am in need of some advice as to which I should focus on. As per the title, one is in a somewhat niche market with a few competitors. The other is in a mainstream market with a lot more competition but also has a lot more potential customers. My potential profit margin as a percentage is roughly the same with both products but the niche market one costs approximately twice as much as the mainstream product and so the potential profit is roughly twice as much. If I were to become established with one, it would be possible to then branch out and introduce the other product. Where should I start? In the small pond or the big pond? Thank you for reading. Just some help with my project/business Posted: 25 Aug 2019 02:11 PM PDT To save some time, I want to essentially help diyers and others with things they need via local/reasonable priced resources. 3 years ago I started a small cnc Mill (40×20×8 inch LWH) for helping hobbyists and the like with getting the niche parts they need at a reasonable price. Profit has never been the main goal however as I want to make enough to be able to buy endmills, drill bits, and as it progresses I'd like to build a small cnc lathe and a second mill specifically for pcb/circuit boards. As of right now, the mill has been slow going but I'm on the way to finishing and calibrating it. I'd like some help and opinions oh how to get my feet wet and get some clients coming as I know how small my setup will be compared to the bigger shops around. Any thing is appreciated [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2019 01:58 PM PDT Everyone says that owning a restaurant consumes 100% of your time, and I'm wondering if there are any solutions to this. Is it unrealistic to expect a top level manager to do most of the work, after they have received the proper training? [link] [comments] |
Outsourcing a big chunk of work? Tricks to appear similar quality as bigger companies? Posted: 25 Aug 2019 10:50 AM PDT What options are ones that are helpful for a small ecommerce? For example should people once they can, outsource ALL the PPC/SEO/marketing campaigns to a firm w/ expertise + resources? For design work to hire consultants to advise, and contract a job to a design firm. If a small company can't afford a full time person to do the marketing, or a person to the the design work. They should work towards outsourcing their work to firms? Should a business look to use the same materials, specialized products, styles? A smaller motorcycle company can compete with Honda motorcycles by using popular 3rd party high end motorcycle parts (brembo brakes, perilli tires, ohlins suspensions). Small motorcycle brands can copy competitor motorcycles or jump on the same trends. They can even pay to have social media 'influencers' to sell to their audiences? Should a small business try to tap into large online communities, or in general communities of people hoping to gain traction in them. To appear bigger than they are by getting groups of people on board? What are your thoughts on how a small company can play the game to fight with the bigger companies? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2019 10:35 AM PDT I am thinking of applying my skills as digital marketing professional and start a side hustle, selling stuff online. There are a few product categories I know one or two things about when it comes to the manufacturing chain. But I wanted to ask this community for inspiration. If you had the skills to make a product stand out, but little savings,in which category would you enter the market? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2019 10:34 AM PDT I am looking for someone to help design a logo for my business. I don't have a lot of money but it's going to be a food trailer selling Mexican food/ Street Tacos. Can anyone help, please? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
I just started making leather/fabric bags Posted: 25 Aug 2019 10:17 AM PDT I developed my own pattern for a men's gym bag. I wanted to carry something nicer than a backpack around. I'm a creative type and boyscout (not literally) so I'm always prepared with a sweatshirt, book, notebook, some pens, maybe an odd item or two. So I basically made a bag for myself but got the idea of designing these as a serious product. My father has a canvas shop so I'm familiar with the production of a fabric good, which is why I'm able to do all of this. Right now the bag looks like a 200$ leather bag. Im really impressed with how it came out. So I made a fabric version with leather handles. Part of me thinks I've stumbled on something that could become very lucrative seeing on how fast I can make one. I would love to chat with someone on their interpretations in the effectiveness of styles in branding. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2019 08:06 AM PDT I had a question pertaining to an aspect of business that would interfere with the fact I'm under 18. As you all may know, you must be over 18 in order to establish yourself with a payment processor, which I am not. So I was thinking of having my grandparents create a platform account (in this case, shopify) and payment processor for me, however before I do something like this, that I would still retain full and complete ownership if I did. My next question is when I turn 18, how do I ensure that I gain full access to my payment gateways from my grandparents. My last, but least important question, is would there be any way for me to sign a property lease so I could rent a storefront or am I stuck until I'm 18? If it helps, I'm registering as an LLC Thanks in Advance! [link] [comments] |
