How do I start up my own small residential cleaning company?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 09:47 PM PDT

I currently work as a house cleaner (4-5 different houses per week). I do not know where to go from here. I was thinking hire 1 or 2 person first then see how to go from there. But what im worried about is taxes, license and what not.

Help! I got a machine delivered and I don’t know how to load it off of the pallet

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 12:37 PM PDT

It was on a pallet wrapped in a giant wood box. It's impossible for me to offload it with a pallet jack. Is there someone I can call? What do I do? This is a disaster. Any help appreciated...

    Crowdfunding

    Posted: 10 Aug 2019 01:42 AM PDT

Hi, I started a mental health awareness clothing brand not too long ago, we sell Athleticwear and donate money from sales to our fund and out of that fund we pay for gym & sports memberships for people struggling with mental health as its scientifically proven that regularly being active has a positive effect on your mental health. Recently my friend told me that this is a movement that needs to be world wide, he suggested I start a crowdfunding campaign as he says it's a cause everyone could get behind. Does anyone that has experience with crowdfunding think this would work or have any tips?

Can you start a business email list before registering your business?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 08:19 PM PDT

Of course you can in practice but is it ideal? Sorry if this is a silly question but here's my situation: I want to start a marketing and media company within 5 years or so. In the meantime, I want to slowly create content for my target audience. I'm going to give it out for free in exchange for emails. After some thought, I think it's better to publish the content under my company name rather than just me. I heard that it's a general practice to keep quiet about your business details before paperwork is finished. Is that true?

    Small business income tax planning

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 07:36 PM PDT

Say you're making a lot of business profit in a given year and have a pass-through entity, so it's basically it all goes directly through to your personal tax return, after business expenses. You imagine that whopper of a tax bill coming your way in 2021. Is there any way to legitimately, or depending on how "semi," semi-legitimate way to do some business spending that could decrease your coming bill?

Selling print on demand cards without your own store

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 11:16 PM PDT

Hi everyone. Im not sure if this is the right place to ask, so if it isnt, or if there's a better place to ask, please let me know. I want to sell greeting cards of a certain niche. I don't want to deal with any inventory, and I don't want to pay anything (or at least not too much) up front. So that means that I dont want to have an entire online store from shopify or something like that because of the shopify fee, domain registration fee, etc. So I was wondering, which is the best platform to do this? I looked into it a little and discovered etsy and zazzle. Are these good enough to fit my needs? Is there better options? Any help is much appreciated :)

    Edit: fixed "pleas" to "please"

Starting a business around a product I'm making, but I can't bring any good skills to the table?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 05:29 PM PDT

There's this product I want to make and start a manufacturing business for. I'm doing basic prototyping right now, and no actual "business" work has been done yet.

During prototyping I needed to write some code for a test. And I was having issues getting it to work, and my friend who graduated in software engineering was helping me. Eventually I bought him some of the same hardware so he could see what I was dealing with, and within 24 hours he had a much better test setup than I did. And while he has no expectations of compensation, it got me wondering... how can I start a business if I can't do stuff myself?

Maybe I'm just rambling and this doesn't make sense to anyone, but I'm a bit concerned because is it really my product if all I do is have the idea? The only thing stopping my friend from making this product before me is the fact that I really want this, and he sees it as merely an intrigue.

Does anyone have any input on this? Has this happened to anyone before?

Very small, TCG business idea tips?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 06:53 PM PDT

I'm looking into potentially renting a small-midsized office space, setting up chairs and tables, purchasing board games and other table-top gaming instruments and making a not-for-profit gaming place. Where people (kids and adults alike) can come pay a door fee to keep the rent paid and invest in prize support (not gambling because prizes are in gaming-goodies, not cash). Can anyone give me some tips, and maybe outline some challenges I might have to overcome?

    Small business tax 101

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 05:05 PM PDT

So I just started my small business, and by start I mean I formed an LLC, registered with my state and got my EIN and sales tax permit. I feel ready and motivated to get out there and generate some leads and turn a profit ..... but I am completely lost when it comes to my tax obligations.

I understand I will have to pay quarterly taxes, and remit sales taxes quarterly as well. But what I am still cloudy on is:

    1. What exactly is the tax I'll be paying quarterly? Is that the self employment tax or the state/fed tax ?

    2. How do I estimate how much I should be paying quarterly? The year is almost over so I don't even know when I should start sending in payments, let alone how much I should send.

    3. What is the best practice for keeping track of that stuff ? I don't have the funds to hire a CPA right now. So QuickBooks perhaps?

It's actually pretty overwhelming and I'd much rather focus on GROWING my newly found business rather than fretting about the IRS knocking on my door with handcuffs.

Trying to start a business. Several challenges.

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 04:27 PM PDT

My post office box is located in one county, and my storage unit is located just a few miles away in the next county. I have no other address for business purposes.

So I am wanting to formalize my business structure by going to the county tax assessor's office and registering my business. But I am unsure which county to register in.

Seeking Advice for a Finance Related Consulting Business

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 03:25 PM PDT

Hi Redditors, I want to start a part-time venture (potentially full-time if it works) and I'd like to hear your opinion and advices. Keep in mind that this is not a disruptive idea, but I seek knowledge and motivation.

Starting with my background… I have a bachelor's in Economics and currently pursuing a MBA in a top10 Business School. Prior to the MBA I've worked for 7.5 years in Finance related areas. 2.5 with Macroeconomics Research and 5 in Corporate Finance (Treasury, Financial Planning, Controllership) for F100 companies in the Automotive, Consumer Goods, and Financial Services industries. I have professional experience in South America, North America, and Europe and I speak 3 languages.

Well, I've seen a trend of firms outsourcing some Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) functions (CFO's support area), such as Budgeting, Forecasting, and Reporting. I've also been asked by several friends to help their startups on project valuation, financial planning department implementation, structure, and to creatine and check their spreadsheets.

I believe I can profit from helping SMBs creating and managing their Finance departments and controls by applying some best practices I've learned, from crunching numbers to implementing and producing periodic insightful reports. I've noticed that I have developed some expertise and agility in working with financial data and producing managerial reports with not only risk & opportunities, but also action plans. Hence I'm willing to offer some "consulting/advisory" services using my network in the countries I've lived.

I would appreciate your thoughts on how to structure and deploy this concept. I'm interested in getting feedback on how to approach potential first customers, how to charge (per hour, per project), and how should be an ideal business model.

    Cheers!

    Operating Ecom Clothing Business Abroad

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 03:10 PM PDT

I am interested in starting an ecom clothing business in the US (as an LLC). I am a US citizen and a resident of Georgia, so it would be easiest for me to begin it there. However after a few months, I will be moving abroad to study in Germany. I would like to continue my business online. However, I am wondering if it is possible to ship my products out of Germany while still remaining a US business or must I register in Germany?

    Am I Being Ridiculous?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 01:57 PM PDT

Why is my landing page not converting?

I've been running an ad for 11 days. My CTR is over 15%, clicks: 133, impressions: 751. Since my product is a wholly new invention, no one is searching for it--so for this campaign, I'm using keywords that users of my product are searching for (dosage info). So buying intent is really low, I'm using this for brand awareness. But I'm not getting ANY sales and it's frustrating.

What is wrong with my landing page?

    https://www.syrgi.com/dosage-charts/

Am I be ridiculous? Just too impatient?

If this isn't allowed, I'll delete it. Please don't ban me.

Needing any type of advice on where to begin.....

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 01:52 PM PDT

I am Justin and I would like to start a small business where I would do genealogy and memorial /gravesite maintenance and cleaning. I not sure what to call it, and worst of all where to being

If anyone can help me with links or apps that may make the process a little easier please let me know.

I have been a family investigator for 25+ years, and always been interested in helping those that can not make it to a loved ones grave or the person has no more remaining relatives.

Any help or advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Solar Panel Installation

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 01:52 PM PDT

I'm passionate about renewable energy/environmentally friendly solutions and think solar is an industry that has a great potential as a Sweaty Startup, as Nick lists here.

The problem is I have zero solar panel installation experience. Is this too big of a barrier to entry, even though I think that would be a great business opportunity? The companies that do this in my area (I've called) have a seemingly long lead time.

One workaround I've thought of is acting as the Sales/Marketing lead to find business, then subcontract installers to do the actual "boots on the ground" installation work, but of course this isn't ideal.

    Would love some thoughts/insight here!

    Bank accounts for 3 LLCs?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 04:54 AM PDT

I'll have 3 LLCs generating income. Should I open a bank account for each one? Is there a way to setup another company that owns all three LLCs so I can funnel all money into one bank account?

Not sure if dba would work because I don't want clients to know the LLCs are connected.

How much work is it starting and running a nonprofit?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 05:10 PM PDT

Thought of a good idea for a nonprofit that I think will do some real good and fill a gap that other nonprofits don't significantly address and have been told that through school have connections to people who can help set up the corp. and assist with fundraising. So my question is what is the likely day to day work amount for a nonprofit once it's set up?

Creating a phone application - should I use Legalzoom to create an LLC or do it myself?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2019 09:24 AM PDT

Title pretty much explains it. This is my first time starting a business. I paid a company to create a phone application for me and am working on creating an LLC now. I will be starting the LLC in Michigan.

I don't have any experience in the legal portion of business. Should I use Legalzoom? One thing I'm thinking about especially is the registered agent. I can't 100% say I'll be home 8-5 M-F.

What is your advice? Thanks so much in advance.
