Great company, good products, safe money but completely overpriced and not good buys at the moment.

The next recession is coming. Or not.

I enjoyed this article because it addresses the track record of a quarter-long inverted yield curve, but also current economic conditions that have contributed to it and may affect the future of the markets, and the fact that there's a "self-fulfilling prophecy" factor that should at least be discussed.

Just sharing in case anyone else is interested.

    Renewable energy stocks

    Posted: 01 Jul 2019 04:42 AM PDT

I understand that fossil fuel energy consumption is still crazy high and even increasing in some countries, but at the same time there's an undeniable green trend gaining ground. Countries are taking steps toward cleaner energy, and Iceland is even already 100% renewable (link). It's expensive to get renewable up and going so this would be a long term position. Has anyone else thought about investing in renewable energy while everyone else is distracted by tech stocks and what not?

I know about some stocks like First Solar, Vestas Wind Systems, and TerraForm Power. I even went ahead and bought some TPIC, a wind turbine manufacturer. Anyone have any good stocks they've been researching in this sector?

    Thoughts on 2u (twuo)

    Posted: 01 Jul 2019 12:29 PM PDT

It seems like a growing industry and a solid business model but I haven't found a ton of information. I may make a small position and keep adding to it. Anyone own or looking at this company what do you think of it's outlook over the next 3-5 years?

    Excellent Barrons article on Carnival

    Posted: 01 Jul 2019 01:04 PM PDT

The company faces headwinds in Europe but priced on 10x 2019 earnings it is too cheap. Its the leader in an oligopolistic market with a 47% share that is expected to grow by 4% pa

    Excellent Fool.com article on Corning

    Posted: 01 Jul 2019 01:00 PM PDT

I've always liked the stock and this article sums it up very well. Fast growing markets, loads of patents, excellent pipeline, growing cash flow and shareholder friendly. The stock is up 80% over the past 3 years but still looks reasonable trading on a trailing PE of 14 with expected CAGR of 15%.

This is not a recommendation to buy or sell. Stocks are not suitable for everybody. Please do your own research.

    Posted: 01 Jul 2019 11:30 AM PDT

I have just a small amount of money ($550) invested into mainly Coke, Ford, AT@T and a couple other smaller REITS with higher yield percentages. I have been researching companies to invest in and put more money towards. My question is, if I have another one houndred dolalrs or so, how would you guys invest that money? I'm looking to either put more money into Coke or look into other stocks( preferrably under 50$. Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks!

What happens when Mom and Dad retire?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2019 07:40 AM PDT

The CBO (Congressional Budget Office) released projects about two weeks ago, stating that GDP will see a significant slowdown in the coming decade. This will be caused in part from a shrinking labor force. Simply put the millennial generation will not be able to completely replace the boomer generation for labor. How do you think this will play out in the stock market, if at all?

    Hemp Inc? (HEMP)

    Posted: 01 Jul 2019 08:12 AM PDT

I recently read an article about how Hemp, Inc. Announces Search for Agricultural Industry Suppliers to be Featured at the Hempathon in Arizona. Anyone think this could be a good long term investment to spend a few hundred dollars in order to get a good amount of stock? Thinking of investing 300$ for 15K stocks.

Confused about dividends, and a couple of questions.

    Posted: 01 Jul 2019 09:17 AM PDT

I understand what a dividend is and why a company pays them out.

However, what I am confused about are companies listing a dividend and then not receiving one, or them removing it after purchase.

For example, I purchased both RIG and OGZPY in July 2017. At the time RIG posted a dividend and eventually removed it because they were heavily indebted, so I psuedo get this one they had to remove it. OGZPY still has a dividend posted, but I have yet to receive one. Is this because it is a foreign company? or something with the broker? I am just confused because I thought I would've had two dividend payouts already.

edit: NVM I called the broker and found out I was paid the OGZPY, for some reason both did not reinvest into the stock and they just paid it out in cash.

    Wash sale and dividend income

    Posted: 01 Jul 2019 04:55 AM PDT

Does income from dividends count against wash sale rule. Or if you sell a stock for a loss but with your dividends you actually were at a gain is that still subject to loss sale rule.

    Old Company and Stock Certificates

    Posted: 30 Jun 2019 09:51 PM PDT

So I have recently found an old stock certificate from a company called "Automatic Transmission Company" And when I say old, I mean like this is from 1918. I was wondering if anyone knew if the company was bought out, went bankrupt, merged, etc. And if so, how would I go about handling these old stock certificates?

Thoughts on Procter and Gamble (PG)?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2019 03:15 PM PDT

Stocks/Investment Newbie here. I'm a student who just occasionally dabbles in the stock market. What are your thoughts on Procter and Gamble? Goldman Sachs just changed its rating from Neutral to Buy and are expecting double digit returns.

My reasoning is that over time, consumer goods will generally go up since the general public cannot really live without detergents and toilet paper :-D

What are your thoughts on this and why?

Slowing economic data shows recession; US deficits continue to grow.

    Posted: 30 Jun 2019 05:39 PM PDT

As most of us know Trump and China trade war is just a tactic to keep the market rallying on the same news over and over again until the 2020 election. It really doesn't matter who wins because our government has been fucking us for decades but I would still rather see trump win. Nonetheless, I believe the market will drop substantially in the coming months and he will not win re-election due to that. After the July rate cut comes through, in October-December we should see the delusion starting to fade and real worry start to kick in. Should be fun to watch the paper gains disappear, because the stock market has clearly gone away from the underlying real economy that has been struggling. In fact we've been in a depression for quite some time. Growing substantially less over the past decade than in the past, leaving almost 5 trillion on the table over the years. Whens the last time you saw the federal reserve contemplating a rate cut at the top of a bull market? Exactly, that should tell you something. The balance sheet and interest rates are nowhere near normal and this will cause them to raise rates during a recession and print more money (QE4). It's time you cash out and watch the fun as people scatter, I'm long gold (mainly) and eventually some select foreign markets.
