Walmart explains why it offers fewer items for next-day delivery compared to Amazon

Walmart isn't looking to match Amazon on the number of items with next-day delivery anytime soon — and there's a reason why.

The retail giant announced last month it was offering next-day delivery — with no membership fee — for about 220,000 items on its website to customers in Phoenix and Las Vegas first, with plans to expand to reach about 75 percent of U.S. customers by the end of the year. Walmart said it also plans to add hundreds of thousands of items for next-day delivery in the future.

Walmart's speedy delivery is only available for a small pool of items compared to Amazon, which announced last week that Prime members — who pay a yearly membership fee of $119 — will be eligible for free one-day delivery on more than 10 million products.

Holding stocks for the short term

    Posted: 09 Jun 2019 01:19 PM PDT

    Hello,

I am new into stocks. I would like to know how can someone build a strategy to sell stocks and fundamental difference between stocks and options?

Let's use AAPL as a case study, and assume that the stock price stays steady while we are holding the stocks. Let's say that it's currently trading at $177, lets say we have $1770 total liquidity, enough for 10 shares. Let's say that after one day, it becomes $177.5, it means that I can cash $1775. The profit after a day is 5$ - (fees of buy/sell).

I am legitimately trying to understand the fundamental difference between buying and selling stocks this way, and dealing with options (selling calls and puts frequently).

I'm not looking for vague comments, I genuinely want some clarity.

What is the most logical route for Reddit: 1) Be bought out by Facebook, 2) Be bought out by Google, or 3) Go Public

    Posted: 09 Jun 2019 12:40 PM PDT

There's no doubt there is monetization potential with Reddit and the strong loyal user base. I wouldn't be surprised if Facebook or Google is trying to make it happen.

Though, would that prove the anti-trusters correct?

Regardless, I'd love to hear what y'all think Reddit's future is as a company.

Recommended iPhone app for paper trading/practice?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2019 12:08 PM PDT

I'd like to start practicing trading, and I'd prefer to do it on an iPhone app. This sub's index recommends Trader Trainer. Should I use that, or is there a better app?

    Let's talk BYND!

    Posted: 09 Jun 2019 12:13 AM PDT

What are you guys thoughts / trades for BYND this week? Any thoughts on where we're headed? Let's get some productive conversation going!

    For me:

-BYND had more volume Friday than it did on its IPO day.

    -Citron Research short from $95

-50% of float is short (as of May)

-4M float (extremely small. TLRY was 14M.
-Citron was also short TLRY under $100

I'm expecting a ton of range on this thing, watching 130 level for support premarket / at open and thinking swinging some 150 calls with a likely push for 150 this week. If we fail to hold the 130 I'm looking towards the 115 puts. We've also got the potential for analyst upgrades this week.

    Does IB offer better leverage?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2019 08:42 AM PDT

I have the typical 25% initial margin/maintenance margin rate and I'm looking for a better leverage for my margin account. I don't want to switch from IB so do they offer better leverage for margin accounts maybe 10:1 or something like that? I'm not looking for forex numbers, just want something higher than my current one and would like to learn about their requirements for higher leverage.

    Is a downturn ahead?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2019 11:28 AM PDT

I'm a young guy investing a lot of money for the long run (20+ years). But I have been told to hold off on investing my lump sum because there will be a recession next year, and should invest when it hits a low.

Will there likely be a recession or is my skepticism well placed? How do people predict these things? Will this hypothetical recession for sure impact the stocks / s&p 500?

    Hide Orders in Etrade?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2019 04:31 AM PDT

    Hey guys.

Does anyone know if it is possible to hide your order size when placing a limit Buy/Sell on Etrade? I love the brokerage but that's one feature from Interactive Brokers that I can't seem to replicate and miss quite a bit.

To be more specific, I mean to apply a 'Hidden' attribute to the order so that it appears as only 500 shares on the level 2 instead of 20,000.

    Experiences with Etoro?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2019 09:45 PM PDT

I'm about to fund a small account with $200 and I couldn't get much broker options, as most of them are for US citizen. I live in Brazil and Etoro seemed the "best" shot, but before I pull the trigger I'm wondering if there are hidden fees or non cool stuff going on in there. Any of you used it? What other broker can you recommend me? (It's important that I can start off with $200)
