    Marijuana Stocks And Regulations

    Posted: 30 May 2019 01:49 PM PDT

Alongside stock market losses, cannabis stocks were mixed Thursday ahead of the first public hearing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration aimed at providing information on the substance and its ingredients. The goal of the hearing is a regulatory framework for CBD. The hearing comes after Congress legalized CBD, which is derived from the hemp plant.

The FDA has cracked down on companies claiming that CBD treats illnesses, which the Administration argues is not back by scientific evidence.

If the FDA doesn't act swiftly, Congress would then be tasked with creating a CBD regulation framework. Friday's hearing, which includes cannabis industry pioneers, entrepreneurs, politicians, scientists, and doctors, won't lead to immediate regulations.

Marijuana Business Daily reports that U.S. retail cannabis sales should rise 35% in 2019, approaching the $30 billion mark by 2023.

How do you backtest a strategy?

    Posted: 30 May 2019 03:32 PM PDT

How do you backtest a strategy? Let's say I have a gap strategy and I want to backtest it how do I do it ? I can't use TOS think back because it only let's you backtest one stock and that is useless. You have to know all the premarket gainers so you can plot a strategy. In forex it's easy there's about 8 currencies you can take the EUR/USD rewind it a few years back and start fast forwarding while testing strategies and executing trades on the way. How do you do that in the case of stocks ?

    Moving average crossover alert?

    Posted: 30 May 2019 05:42 PM PDT

I'm looking to be notified by email or text when a simple moving average crossover occurs (both ways). Are there any apps, websites, tools, anything that offers this? Preferably free but let me know of any paid ones too. I've looked around and haven't really seen anything simple.

    Thanks!

Edit: Tradingview appears to have this feature!

Will Chinese Tech Giants (alipay, we chat) enter our banking system? Bloomberg Thinks so!

    Posted: 30 May 2019 05:16 PM PDT

You don't need to watch the video or response: Essentially the argument is China has switched to a cashless economy and will the U.S.

Arguments for why the US will:

    1) China has, fees are lower (Bloomberg released this video on May 20th https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJh_Uir5EMI&t=1s and https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2018-payment-systems-china-usa/)

    Arguments against

    1) Banks are quite powerful

    2) American consumer is a bit different from the Chinese

    Here is the response: https://youtu.be/z-SLpqSugf4

I'd be interested in anyones thoughts on how the banking system could chance because of China.

Three 5G Stocks that could potentially go up hundreds of percents

    Posted: 30 May 2019 04:20 PM PDT

Hey guys! 5G is set to be 100x faster than 4G LTE, and as the 5G market starts to open further in the United States of America, we could be seeing certain companies take on the market and have the potential to go up hundreds of percents.

The three 5G Stocks I own in my portfolio are Skyworks, Xilinx, and AT&T.

One user asked me: why SWKS + XLNX and not AVGO or QCOM?

Why T and not VZ or CTL?

AVGO is generally the safer investment for its diversification in revenue when compared to SWKS and XLNX, but I believe SWKS is safer in terms of its future growth in earnings and its dividend safety. I love the direction QCOM is heading and I do own some of QCOM, but SWKS is lower in valuation right now in my opinion. CTL is very low right now, but I want to wait for a sign of reversal before possibly looking into buying in. I also own a bit of VZ, but I like T better for dividend and value. However, debt remains as a huge problem for T.

Here is a further explanation for those stocks. Explanation

Let me know what 5G stocks you guys think can take the majority of the market in the future.

    Question about foreign stocks

    Posted: 29 May 2019 09:44 PM PDT

If I buy foreign stock, but in an American market (I believe), are its profits based off an American sales or foreign sales

For reference, I bought some Alibaba stock off of RobinHood in the US and I was wondering if would be based off of China profits or American. Thanks!
