Finding suppliers - alibaba alternatives? Posted: 29 May 2019 10:45 PM PDT Hiya, while buying from China has some great advantages, there's many times where I need to source something from another country. I only really know of Alibaba for sourcing goods overseas, are there any other good alternatives that other countries besides china gravitate towards? [link] [comments] |
Had no idea getting paid would be this hard Posted: 29 May 2019 06:24 AM PDT I have a small consulting business that's just me as a side job. Most of my clients have been law firms, but some insurance companies as well. They have all reached out to me in search of the type of services I offer, I negotiate a fee schedule, and I do the work. I'm really the only professional in my city that does this type of work. Anyway, the work is completed for these customers and the invoices are sent and.... crickets. Nothing for several weeks to months. This is starting to get a little frustrating, having to poke and prod them about the payments. I will be the first to admit, I'm pretty naive to this space as I just started this year. Is this a common issue that small businesses encounter? I figured this would be problematic working with individuals as customers, but had no clue it would be an issue with large companies. I have started to require a pre-payment/retainer before any work is performed and this seems to help. But how do I go about reconciling these existing balances? [link] [comments] |

Name ideas for a pet portrait business Posted: 30 May 2019 01:17 AM PDT I am planning on setting up my own business selling pet portraits (specialising in dogs, creating digital and traditional portraits) but have been stuck on a name and would like some opinions and suggestions. I would be specialising in dogs, but would like to be able to branch out and offer different pets. I don't want to go with "Pet Portraits by..." and wanted something a little bit more branded and perhaps a bit play on words, however for the purpose of social media, I would most likely include 'pet portraits' within the title. I also want to steer away from names similar to Pawtraits as many, many others have this included in their names already Some ideas I have had: Handsome Hounds - Pet Portraits Dog Scribbles Dog Doodles Digital Dogs Pet Sketch/es Etch Pet Personalised Paws [link] [comments] |

Fitness / Health Related Businesses Posted: 30 May 2019 12:09 AM PDT Hi I'm really into exercising and fitness in general. What are some business ideas that I could possibly start in that niche. Here are some ideas I have: Meal Prep Services I feel like this would be good because I have a commercial kitchen and chefs already to work with Juice bar ( I would need a lot of help on this if anyone knows anything about this, I would greatly appreciate it) Build your own nutritional shake subscription...Similar business model to Huel. I'd appreciate it so much if you commented any ideas you have. If it helps I'm located in an area that is heavily populated and filled with healthy people that more or less care about how they look. Small Business revenue potentially tripling - How to get a piece of the new found company wealth? Posted: 29 May 2019 04:42 PM PDT So, as the title says, I work for a small business with only 4 total employees counting me. With a new software sale we are making, we can expect to have our annual revenue go from averaging $750,000 to possibly $2,000,000. This annual revenue is nearly guaranteed to continue for at least the next 3-5 years. There is a good chance that we will need to hire a couple of new individuals, but they will be entry level positions ($50,000 per year). Our profit margin should be around 65-75% (we're in software development). I'd expect the net profit will be around $1,400,000 per year. I am the most senior employee by 3 years and have been there for over 4 years now. My boss is the owner of the company and works very hard on this business. I wear many hats and have a good position in the company. I would take over the business if my boss were to suddenly become incapable of running the business. But, as it stands, I have no skin in the game -- just my annual salary of $80,000 and potentially a bonus if our CFO decides profit was good enough. My end goal is to receive a guaranteed ~15% of the company's profit per quarter. The CFO of the company is very lazy and does not like making accounting changes, so I believe the BEST solution is the EASIEST solution from the accounting side. My opinion, in order, from best option to worst option are the following:
My plan is to send a well-written email to the CEO and CFO detailing why I believe I should be a part owner/have access to profit, and ask them to think about it. At the end of the email, I will ask them both when they will have time for an in person meeting to discuss further. The CEO and CFO are married and draw 100% from the profit on the company. I'm curious what everyone's opinions are and what I might could do differently. Is it weird to ask for 15% of the company's profit? Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Early days and needing tips and tricks Posted: 29 May 2019 10:02 PM PDT Been wanting to open a small wine bar for a long time. But trying to research as much as I can. I'm very much in the early phase. Can anyone send me in the right direction? Financing, licenses to sell alcohol, buying or renting a building. Based in the Midwest if that helps! Posted: 29 May 2019 06:59 PM PDT Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm not having much luck in my research thus far... Does anyone know if the US offers any grant programs for businesses offering allergen-friendly products/services? More specifically, I'm a baker with Celiac Disease and would love to open a 100% gluten-free bakery/cafe eventually. I have established recipes and previous management and entrepreneur experience. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |

Need advice on buying an established business. Posted: 29 May 2019 05:16 PM PDT Im in the process on buying an established service business. Its been in business for over 30 years, Its only employees are the owner/technician and his wife that runs the office. Its the kinda business that has a busy season during the fall and early winter, and has forward scheduled work during the summer. In the last 3 years the business has grossed $92,000. There is roughly $7,000 worth of equipment, and $1,000 of inventory going with the business. They want 100k for the business and want me to sign a letter of intent before they release the financial information. Is this a decent price? What kinda questions should i be asking? Best shipping alternative to stamps.com Posted: 29 May 2019 04:24 PM PDT I own a very small business and always shipping my products through USPS, I have been using stamps.com because it says they offer discounts from USPS, but lately the software has been crashing. What do you guys use to send your products? and is it really true you can get discounted prices from USPS? how do some websites offer lower price shipping? My items are 30 ml bottles so most of the times I only ship 1, 2, 3, so it is not a big or heavy item. I ship from CA Thank you [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 May 2019 03:37 PM PDT I'm not even sure the detail matters. It is a $1000 deposit. How do I go about on this matter? The customer found someone else to perform the work that they had hired us to do because we can't start right away. So after they signed a contract with us, they decide to look for another vendor. I would appreciate any thoughts or questions. Thank you!! [link] [comments] |

UPDATE: Leaving my current business to start my own Posted: 29 May 2019 08:20 AM PDT I work in the commercial pool management industry and was about to buy into the owners business at a 25% stake. After going through the opening season with him, I realized his personal financial over head is too much for me to be able to get a sustainable income without expanding too fast. Not only that, but I shouldered everything and worked way harder than the owner to get all the pools opened up for the season. We have 24 pools in 6 cities and in the last 3 years I've set up the entire organizations operational structure, recruitment and training process, blah blah blah... essentially everything the business needs to run efficiently. He was in charge of getting one division of the company up and going for the season and i, the other. All of my pools passed all three levels of inspections the first time, half of his failed. I had to go back out and fix everything they failed for the day of inspections Bc he didn't fix it then. If I'm putting all this work in, I think it's best for me to just do my own thing. However, he and i are friends as well (maybe not for long), but I. D.o.n.t see anything wrong with going my own way. What do you all think? [link] [comments] |
What are some ways to attract consumers to buy our products? Posted: 29 May 2019 01:48 PM PDT Hello, I just had a question, what are some ways we can attract customers to buy our products? I own an online modest clothing store, EMAAN ModestWear (www.emaanmw.com) and I wanted to know how we can get more people to buy our products. My whole idea of lower prices for modest clothing kind of is a flop. I always wanted to buy clothing that was a lot cheaper than most of these high end modest clothing shops. I thought the most attractive part of our store would be the prices to customers, however I might be wrong. Is there a way to keep customers engaged? How do we keep them engaged and keep coming back to our website? Do Instagram Giveaways work? or constant sales? Need help please! [link] [comments] |
Need help with steps to create online personal training business. Posted: 29 May 2019 01:46 PM PDT Little background I have been a personal trainer at a box gym now for 4 years I have over 100 clients. But I'm being underpaid where I am at and want to progress. With that being said. I was wondering what steps to take from this point. I looked into Fiverr to get a website designed and made and looked into apps such as trainerze. But I feel like I don't know what all I need. I know I needed a landing page if I get the trainerize app which is the same as having a word press? I need to create a logo and my only idea for advertising currently was making filers and sending them in the mail to offer a free 14 day program on my the website and also social media marketing to hopefully turn this into sales. Should I use fiverr are there any better websites to pay someone to get this professionally done? Do I need to create an LLC? Should I pay to create a business plan?Thank you any advice. Currently I have a domain and I got hosting on ipage but have to wait to transfer domain. [link] [comments] |
Where do you park your savings? Posted: 29 May 2019 01:15 PM PDT Business is doing pretty good these days. When dealing with personal money, I park my money in a combo of high yield savings (around 2%) and some index funds with tools like betterment or wealthfront. When it comes to business accounts, I am having a hard time finding banks offering high yield that are interesting. 0.10% is not appealing at all and I would rather my money works a little more. So the question is, where do you guys park your savings? Is there an equivalent to Betterment for business accounts? I am not looking for 10-12%, but 0.1% is sort of ridiculous. Thanks! How do you do cigarette inventory theft check? Posted: 29 May 2019 12:59 PM PDT New gas station owner here. We'll be dealing with 100-200 cartons of cigarettes every week with 5-6 different cashiers working. What are some ways/templates you use to do the inventory check to make sure there is no internal theft happening? I have a system set up from the previous owner but it doesn't account for everything so I thought I'd ask around to see what othere ways there are. [link] [comments] |
