    Who's insurance would cover this?

Person A sells car to Person B.

Person B drives car to "DMV" to have ownership transferred. B already has insurance on vehicle, but does not yet own.

Person A drives their other car to meet them there.

During the drive, Person B crashes car -- likely resulting in a write-off of the vehicle.

Person A has insurance ending today with car being transferred. Person B has insurance effective today, for same said car, VIN included.

Does the purchaser, Person B, go through their insurance?

    Sadly not hypothetical.

If my name’s on the title do I need Renter’s insurance?

    Posted: 29 May 2019 10:35 PM PDT

My boyfriend of eight years, and I are buying a house. Due to my low credit score my name is not on the mortgage, however we will be splitting all bills 50/50. I've read that many insurance companies won't cover both people for home insurance if they are not married. My boyfriend wants my name on the title, giving me half ownership. He's applying for homeowners insurance this week, will I be able to be included in his policy? Or should I get my own renter's insurance.

My mother died in 2002- Met Life sent me a letter regarding her life insurance policy. Why?

    Posted: 30 May 2019 12:38 AM PDT

Quick question- My mother died in 2002, my father last year. Shortly after my mom passed away, my dad and I moved out of our old house. I was contacted by my old neighbor last weekend; The people who lived in my old house just moved and asked her to keep an eye on the mailbox in case anything showed up for them. Apparently she found something that looks like insurance documents from MetLife addressed to my mother.

I live about an hour away currently, driving up in the morning to pick up the mail.

Scratch my curiosity itch until then- Why would my mom be receiving life insurance documents seventeen years after her death?

What to email insurance adjuster after denied claim.

    Posted: 29 May 2019 01:21 PM PDT

Both insurance companies have refused to be liable for the damages because its a word vs word scenario. I have photos that clearly show damages begin from the very back of the car to the passenger door. The driver while making a U turn hit my car while i made a left turn beside it. How do I respond to the truck driver adjuster who says they are not liable

I need advice on a fender bender.

I'm in California Los Angeles area and I was driving for Uber when suddenly someone rear ends me(Funny enough another Uber Driver) I got some scuff and damage to my bumper so I got the man's info+insurance. Now, my question is

    1. Should I Just report it to his insurance?

    2. Report it to Uber?

    3. He told me he has a cousin who owns a body shop and offered to fix my vehicle damage.

I dont have much experience when someone offers something or more to say should I even trust them? Guy was nice and very aware he messed up he was ok with me reporting it to his insurance, but subtly gave me the offer to fix it with his cousin.

Our old insurance company called about an accidental filed against us from a time when we didn't even have that insurance company. Do we need to do anything?

    Posted: 29 May 2019 11:19 AM PDT

We left esurance in March of 2018. We got a call today(5/29/19) about an accident filed against us today from 4/9/18. They left a message. The woman said we don't have a policy with them so it would be denied, but do we need to do anything or wait to be contacted otherwise? Neither my wife nor I can remember anything happening around that time.

Two claims on Aetna but I only received a bill for one

    Posted: 29 May 2019 09:52 PM PDT

    Hello,

About a month later, I received a bill from my doctor's office. It was a bill for the visit. I went to pay on Aetna and I noticed another claim made for the blood work by Quest Diagnostics. I have received a bill for that, both claims are marked as processed. I'm curious as to if I need to pay that bill; if I never logged into my Aetna portal, I would have never noticed that other claim since I haven't received a bill yet from Quest (If I am even going to receive a bill at this point).

Will squaretrade insurance replace a dented laptop if it still works? Or does it have to not turn on?

    Posted: 29 May 2019 08:30 PM PDT

I dropped my laptop and dented it, but I got insurance on it. The corner is dented and the metal is warped, and it grinds on the hinge when I open and close it. But the laptop still works. Will insurance fix it so it looks like new? How does this work? Do I have to send it in and will it takes weeks to complete? Thanks for any information

Just got a call about an Ambulance bill from 2 years ago for $2,783

    Posted: 29 May 2019 08:29 PM PDT

2 years ago on my birthday, my friends and I went to the beach. I was really dehydrated so after 2 shots blacked out really bad. Apparently the cops had come up to us in the parking lot because I was blacked and throwing up. Anyways, my friends literally begged the cops not to take me in the ambulance but the cops literally forced them to... I woke up in a hospital confused, but I left with a packet of info about alcohol poisoning.

I just got a call from an unknown number, which I usually do not answer, but today I decided why not. They were calling from collections and saying I had a fee of $2,783 for the ambulance ride there......... I don't have the money to pay this off right now.

I was searching up the statute of limitations for debt in california and I'm wondering what type of debt is this? Is it oral, writte, promissory note, or openended account? I did not sign anything.

    Selling motorbike went wrong!

    Posted: 29 May 2019 06:15 AM PDT

Yesterday I attempted to sell my Kawasaki Zx6r. I live in the Netherlands. A few Polish guys that work here in the Netherlands wanted to buy the bike. I checked their license and ID and everything looked fine. As one tried to make a test drive he crashed my bike into 2 parked cars. Both heavily damaged, one even had to be taken away with a truck.

Now they didn't run nor lied that they didnt do it. I called the police and they made a report about the situation. I called my insurance company and told me they will not cover the cost for my bike which is logical for me but they also said they won't cover the damage on the cars because it was my own responsibilty and I only have 2 years of (don't know the correct word) but 2 years free of any damage.

I would appreciate any information or insight that I could use for the case. Cause I will definitely go against the claim. Thanks for reading.

Liability Insurance Supplement at Hertz: necessary?

    Posted: 29 May 2019 06:48 PM PDT

We live in an eastern city and do not own a car so does not have our own car insurance here. Recently we plan to go on a trip and rent a car at Hertz and from their website was told that we have a few insurance options:

    • Liability Insurance Supplement
    • Loss Damage Waiver
    • Personal Accident Insurance / Personal Effects Coverage
    • Premium Emergency Roadside Service

We will be using our credit card for the LDW part but not so sure about the liability insurance. We went to their website and found below description on their liability insurance:

Hertz' liability protection is secondary to any other insurance coverage available to you. If you do not have liability insurance and/or the limits of liability of the insurance coverage available to you are not sufficient to cover claims by others against you, and Hertz, as the vehicle owner, provides liability protection due to an accident, you will indemnify Hertz for any and all payments made.

    Source: https://www.hertz.com/rentacar/reservation/reviewmodifycancel/templates/rentalTerms.jsp?KEYWORD=COVERAGES&EOAG=LAX

Does that mean in the event that I hit someone, Hertz will cover the cost but in the meantime we will need to pay Hertz for whatever they paid due to the accident? Thank you!

I caused $1100 in damage in a parking lot - go out of pocket or through insurance?

    Posted: 29 May 2019 06:06 PM PDT

I put a small scratch and dent on a car in a parking lot and caused $1100 in damage. I just switched to GEICO 3 months ago and paid my 6 month premium up front, I havent had an accident in many years. I do not have a deductible so is it worth going through them or should I just do it out of pocket for $1.1k?

    Feb. Car accident (Update)

    Posted: 29 May 2019 05:58 PM PDT

I guess it's good news. My insurance has informed me of the arbitration ruling on my car accident in the parking lot; where there guy back up into my car as I was driving through a parking row. It is declared that I am not at fault. I am reimbursed my 500, but what happens now? Do I get to claim medical fee?

The other insurance was quick to determine me at fault, but now they are super slow to call me after this. Should I call them to file medical bills? I was planning to file it through my own insurance but my treatment hasn't finish.

    House Fire & Recoverable Depreciation

    Posted: 29 May 2019 05:15 PM PDT

We recently had a house fire that burned up most of the inside and roof. We have a few options at this point, and I have some questions about the "recoverable depreciation" amount on the claim.

The adjuster basically told me if it was him, he would cut his losses and sell the property, pay off the mortgage, and go house shopping with the rest instead of wasting a ton of money rebuilding a 50+ year old house that could still smell like fire afterwards.

When I asked him about the recoverable depreciation amount on our claim, he said it's there for you to use to repair or replace (buy something else), but you have to spend it to get it. What I'm not understanding is where in the process of buying a new house that money is used, and how the amount is determined?

Hypothetical: Settlement check is 200k. Recoverable depreciation is 30k. Remaining mortgage is 150k. Pay off mortgage, have 50k to put towards new house from original settlement. Find new 200k house, put that 50k down....when and how does that recoverable depreciation amount kick in?

We're trying to decide between going this route, or just razing the burnt house completely and building a new one on the same lot.

Need auto insurance in WA for five days every other month.

    Posted: 29 May 2019 05:05 PM PDT

Agents, I'm going to be doing drill for military reserves in WA. I live in TX. I'm thinking of buying an older car and carrying minimum limits. It will be parked at my unit when I'm not there and one of our full time reservists is going to start my car and move it to a different parking spot on a regular basis. I will be there for 5 days every other month. What kind of coverage I should I get o keep my rates as low as possible. Is it possible to make my rates lower since it'll only be used 17% of the time?

Should I file worker's comp for a motorcycle accident?

    Posted: 29 May 2019 12:42 PM PDT

I got in a motorcycle accident while driving between locations for work. I was on the clock, driving from a work location to another work location. My hospital bill is $53,000 (so far). My new health insurance has not kicked in yet and my motorcycle insurance is liability only. Don't bother calling me an idiot, I will be feeling the shame of this poor decision for the next decade, so your insults hardly compare to what I've already called myself.

I'm considering filing a worker's comp claim, but I'm hesitant for 2 reasons:

    1. I am deeply involved in the (family) business and am not an owner, but likely will be soon. I do not want to simply pass the expenses on from myself to the business. What kind of premium increase are we looking at? We currently pay 16k a year for workman's comp, with 2 million in payroll and no claims in the last 10 years. I feel like there's no way this will come close to costing the company $56k,but I want to be sure. I would only file a medical claim since I returned to work asap.
    2. Will this be covered by worker's comp? Like I said, I was driving between locations for work, and was on the clock. But I don't know of the insurance company will say the risk of riding a motorcycle is not covered for work.

Any knowledge or info at all would be really appreciated. Thank you!

    Edit: In Denver Colorado

Short term car insurance - moving states

    Posted: 29 May 2019 07:17 AM PDT

Hi, I'm in a sticky situation. I'm purchasing a car in Georgia and in mid June will be driving it to NJ where I'll be living for 3 weeks. By early July I'm moving to PA where I'll be getting a new DL, applying for the car's tags, etc.

What would be the best way to get the car insured in this instance?

Travel insurance that actually covers flight cancellations [UK based]

    Posted: 29 May 2019 09:01 AM PDT

So after a recent disastrous experience with EasyJet and Coverwise where both are crying "technical fault" and refusing any liability, I'm left re-evaluating my annual travel insurance policy (along with a lesson to better read the small print). My other travel insurance (bundled with my bank) doesn't include cancellations at all, so is entirely useless, although admittedly I only have that because it was essentially free.

Are there any travel insurance companies (either single trip or annual) who offer strong cancellation and delay coverage, without a list of exceptions as long as my arm? It seems pointless to me to have a policy which only covers things which are already covered by the airline under EU regulations: I'm looking for insurance which will cover the out-of-the-ordinary scenarios which the airlines will not pay out for (surely, the entire point of insurance in the first place?)

So yeah, any suggestions? And does anyone provide a policy that doesn't exclude technical issues?

I moved and my car insurance company wants to charge me an additional $100+ for a quote with my new address

    Posted: 29 May 2019 10:36 AM PDT

As per what the title reads, I lived in Mesa, AZ and was paying $299 with Geico. Now I moved to Phoenix, AZ and they are quoting me for $400 something . I absolutely cannot afford an extra hundred and something dollars right now. Is there any way around getting charged up the ass for insurance rates when moving?

Usps already notified Geico of change of address

Is there a guideline on determining if I should get full coverage or liability-only on a used car?

    Posted: 29 May 2019 10:26 AM PDT

I just got a 2005 Acura RL (156k mi). It's probably worth $5000 ACV. I just emailed my agent to get a quote on both full-coverage and liability-only.

Is there a guideline (e.g. ratio of premium to car's value) that can steer me towards a particular level of coverage?

1st speeding ticket in GA. What's my next course?

    Posted: 29 May 2019 02:10 PM PDT

I recently received a ticket for going 74 in a 55. This is my first ticket and my insurance rate is pretty low for a 24 year old. My ticket is going to come out to $180 if I just pay it without going to court. What I'm more worried about is my insurance rate increasing. I've heard it can increase another thousand per year for 3 years.

Should I hire a traffic lawyer to decrease my case so I do not receive points? Is going to court going to be worth it since I have a clean record? What should i do?

    A little help... new roof.

    Posted: 29 May 2019 01:58 PM PDT

My dad filed a claim with insurance for roof damage. The adjuster came and quote him about $6000 for a "full roof replacement". Does that include new plywood as well? I ask because the paperwork doesn't mention anything about replacing the plywood, BUT i know from personally walking on the roof that some of the plywood is bad. Just walking over top of some areas is scary as it sinks in and just feels weak or rotted. Does bad plywood even need to be replaced?

Also when my dad contacted a roofing company (very well known nationally) for a quote they wanted to know the amount his insurance quoted right up front before even getting on the roof. I told him not to disclose that information, out of fear of getting screwed, but he did anyways. So just wondering if that's standard procedure or not.

The roofing company also upsold my dad on some higher quality shingles and said it would be about $300 extra... ok no problem. But they called right before starting the job and now saying that they need an extra $400 for something to do with the "crown" of the roof??

We are starting to feel like the roofing company is trying to squeeze us a bit. Were also afraid they're going to bring up the plywood (that the insurance didnt even speak about) and try to charge us out the ass for new ply wood.

Thanks for any thoughts and advice!
