    Seriously, this is why nobody understands accounting. Shit like this is TOTAL gibberish if you haven't spent literally years on it. Everywhere I look, whether it be study materials or in business or even just meeting an accountant for personal taxes, it's always this long-winded impossible-to-understand bullshit.

    This needs to stop.

    EDIT: People ITT saying "I understand it," first of all OH GOOOOOD FOR YOU. But of course you understand it, you've literally done this for, it's not about YOU and that's not the point. The point is just how absurd it is that this stuff has to be written in such a ridiculous, convoluted way. This is why we can't have nice things!

    University job vs public

    I'm considering a job at a university that has decent starting pay but has AMAZING benefits (home purchase grants, many holidays, free courses, and many other great perks)

    Is this better than going the big 4 route?

    Is public accounting really that bad?

    I recently accepted an audit internship for a big four firm which I am really excited about. However, the more I look online, I see people complaining about how bad it is. This has started making me pretty anxious and I wanted to know, is it really that bad or are people just venting?

    [CAN] Core 1 orientation workshop.... why?

    This two day 16 hour workshop could've easily been condensed into a fucking 5 hour one day workshop. I literally learned nothing in the first day, and the second day they taught some case writing stuff which was helpful. But my God there was so much redundant shit we already knew before coming. It easily could've been a video series on CPA's website. I'm sorry this sounds sooo bitchy but I'm just irritated

    Indian salaries

    I recently found out that a huge firm (think PWC/ KPMG/Deloitte) gave a newly qualified CA (CIMA) only 2.5 lakhs a year for joining their taxation department in Bombay. Given that Bombay is absurdly expensive and 2.5 lakhs is absolutely nothing, I was wondering if this is how all accounting salaries are in India? Do they get significantly higher in 4-5 years? Thanks. Edit- is it because of CIMA and not ICAI (the Indian Charter with signing authority, which is 100% harder to clear)

    Hi all,

    I wanted to gather some opinions on how to best go about gaining some accounting skill-sets as a BBA graduate. I graduated with a a 3.65-3.7 GPA (can't remember exact) from an AACSB accredited university. However, I'm realizing, after a year, that I am more drawn to accounting and there are far more opportunities that I can take advantage of.

    Most entry level accounting positions will actually accept candidates BBA degrees, but the issue is I just don't have the skill set to accommodate, so I feel like I am missing out on some good opportunities and experiences.

    I was thinking maybe accounting certificate would be an efficient way to pick up the skills? Online course? I would definitely love to gather some feedback on this as I would like to start work in the accounting field.

    Will I ever get a job?

    I graduated this past month and everyone I know has their employment for September. I applied literally everywhere (Big4, at around 15 medium/smaller sized firms, 8 industry). I received 2 interviews. One from a really small company that was hiring immediately and not for when I graduated, and one from GT, where I didn't receive an offer. I have a cumulative gpa of 3.06 and a cumulative major gpa of 3.07. I am starting my master of accounting degree next week, but at this point I know I've already missed out on a job for September and I wonder if I'll ever actually find a job.

    Edit: I have 2 recruitment events coming up, any tips for them seeing as all the other events I went to didn't go so well?

    Big 4 Dilemma

    currently at big 4 and got feedback about professionalism. apparently I asked a co worker about his background and somehow word got to the managers. Also, I was told not to show negative emotion in the workplace. Well, I wasn't getting help as a TC1during tax season and was upset. I'm Starting to think I may need to look for another job because I may get fired soon for this. any advice please.

    I'm in college and currently majoring in accounting. If you have seen my post on the community I've been asking a lot of questions to prepare for my final. At this point I think I'm going to do bad on my final and will probably get a c- or c if i am lucky. I think I might go into finance but before I do I have a question for everyone that is an accounting major, does it get easier is there a point where it all just clicks or am i forever fucked?
