Boeing shares fall 4% after Bank of America downgrades stock on 737 Max production delays

    Posted: 08 Apr 2019 04:36 AM PDT

    https://www.cnbc.com/2019/04/08/boeing-shares-fall-4percent-after-bank-of-america-downgrades-stock-on-737-max-production-delays.html

Bank of America Merrill Lynch has cut its outlook on Boeing, saying the airline manufacturer's recent troubles with its 737 are worse than expected. Boeing shares tumbled nearly 4.5% on the move.

Two crashes of the Boeing 737 Max 8 forced the company to cut its production rates. BofA now estimates delays with the 737 now will lost six to nine months, longer than the three- to six-month delay originally forecast.

J.P. Morgan's Stephen Tusa on Monday downgraded General Electric shares to underweight from neutral and cut his 12-month price target to $5 from $6.

"We believe many investors are underestimating the severity of the challenges and underlying risks at GE, while overestimating the value of small positives, and with a 38% move in the stock year to date, and >50% cuts to forward fundamental FCF (free cash flow) anchors, we are cutting our [price target] and moving to" underweight, wrote Tusa in a note to clients.

Does anyone have a clue when it will go public?

Any predictions as to what the cost per stock will be?

Any other ideas as to its potential from someone who may have a better clue as to what they are talking about?

What do you predict the impact of Disney's future streaming service will have on stock prices?

    Posted: 08 Apr 2019 11:47 AM PDT

Disney seems like they have bought up a huge portion of rights to great movies including star wars and marvel. When they finally come out with their own streaming service and Netflix doesn't have rights to use their movies anymore, I wonder how much the stock could jump.

Netflix stock seems like it's almost 3 x Disney's right now.

    What do you guys think?

    Question about dividend stocks

    Posted: 08 Apr 2019 07:40 AM PDT

So I want to invest for my future since I'm only 19 I'm going to do something long term. I was thinking about investing X% per pay check into something like the Vanguard Dividend Appreciation (VIG). Would it work to put in 2 investments per month as well as reinvestment my dividends? Is there anyway to get some kind of rough estimate as to what I could have in say 20 years? Like a calculator or something of the sorts? Also, any other dividend stocks you can think of would be great to add, thanks.

    Advice For A Short Term

    Posted: 08 Apr 2019 01:18 PM PDT

    Hello,

I'm a college student who found out my loan broker does not properly apply money into principal. So I decided to stop dumping money into my loans and move it to stocks (and MMAs?) for the remainder of my degree. I'm new to stocks but I've dealt with the subject a bit and familiar with the basics. My goal:

    • Make as much of a profit in 2 years to pay off student loans
    • Not be super risky (e.g. no penny stocks)
    • Use a tool that makes it easy to figure out my taxes (possibly through the broker itself)
    • Take up much advice as I can here so I can continue to invest in the future

What broker should I use? I'm also thinking of focusing on the tech field to invest in, but maybe credit sharks as well.

    Thank you!

    Why is GE getting hammered?

    Posted: 08 Apr 2019 01:16 PM PDT

Anyone know why GE stock is getting downgraded and falling? Is there a connection to the Boeing 737s being grounded to the GE stock price? Perhaps it's due to millenials not buying houses and not needing washers dryers and refrigerators. GE sounds like a brand your grandparents use to buy. They also own GE healthcare an industry that president Trump has decided to take on by taking away the free government money it gets from patients aka Obamacare.

Mitch McConnell Floats Legislation To Resolve ‘Glitches’ In Hemp Regulation

    Posted: 08 Apr 2019 01:13 PM PDT

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said on Monday that he's open to passing additional hemp legislation to resolve any "glitches" as the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) develops regulations around the newly legal crop.

The senator made the remarks at a hemp panel in Kentucky, where he and the state's agriculture commissioner discussed the rollout of hemp legalization under the 2018 Farm Bill. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue also spoke at the event via a video stream.

"Hemp has a remarkable history in the Bluegrass State," McConnell said in a press release. "Forums like this allow hemp growers, processors and interested parties to engage with federal agencies as they move forward with guidance that pave the way for the full realization of hemp's potential in an open marketplace."

Finding historic stock basis from 1990

    Posted: 08 Apr 2019 11:39 AM PDT

I'm helping my mother with her taxes, and it turns out that she held Honeywell stock in 1990 when there was a spin-off to Alliant Techsystems, which then became Orbital ATK, and which has now been acquired by Northrup Grumman, who bought out my mother's Orbital ATK stock in June with a single payment. I just found out about this last night.

I need to find the basis for this stock sale, but I can't seem to find a share price for Alliant Techsystems back as far as 1990. Are there any resources that might have this information? Orbital ATK is now Northrup Grumman Innovation Group. I tried calling them and got referred to two different people, neither of whom had this information, nor did Computershare, which sent the 1099B.

What price to purchase Canopy Growth or Aurora Cannabis?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 04:23 PM PDT

Hi, I'm new to investing, and from what I found online, it seems like the safest thing to do is to start off with indexes, but I have some money to spare and don't mind a the risk. I've compiled a pros and cons list to decide which stock is a better choice to invest in:

    Aurora Cannabis

Pros: • 2nd largest weed company in revenue • Has 11 growing facilities • Ability to produce 500k kilos of marijuana per yr • Operates in 24 countries (large global presence) • Holds 9 acquisitions (primary source of growth) • Activist Investor Nelson Peltz has been named strategic advisor to Aurora Cannabis Inc.'s board to help with global expansion ambitions

Cons: • Paid for many acquisitions with shares of stocks, warrants, convertible notes, and options (1 bn outstanding shares) --> low earnings per share • Has no partners while its competitors do • Overpaying for their acquisition transactions • Extract and per gram prices dropping annually

    Canopy Growth

Pros: • Largest producer of Weed/revenue for weed companies • In Canada, Canopy has signed a deal with each of the country's 10 provinces and has an agreement with the Yukon territory • Operates in 11 countries • Holds 8 acquisitions • Is partnered with Constellation, which owns alcoholic brands, such as Modello and Corona

Cons: • Canopy's share count is up to 75%, and with 107.9 million warrants as well as 31.6 million stock options, there's a good likelihood of a much higher outstanding share count in the future --> lower earnings per share • Dried cannabis flower is susceptible to per gram price decreases over time • Overpaying for their acquisition transactions

Given this information, it's clear that Canopy Growth is on the safer side. Though both companies will grow with time, I want to know what price I should purchase shares at. Rn Canopy Growth is at $43.24 and Aurora Cannabis is at $9.17.

Question: What price should I consider investing in Canopy Growth or Aurora Cannabis? Canopy Growth is at $43.24 and Aurora Cannabis is at $9.17 rn. Also, if you have purchased either stock please explain why you chose one over the other thx. :)

Btw I tried asking at r/weedstocks but was relocated to a general thread, so I came here for a larger audience.

I want to get serious about trading stocks. I trade here and there, but how many of you practice by paper trading? Just trying out new strategies and different techniques on tdameritrade. If anyone has any ideas on strategies I could implement and suggest new ideas please feel free to shoot me a message. I'm thinking about switching to candlestick instead of just doing the traditional line. My ultimate goal is to build my education to be able to limit my losses, and identify patterns so that I can react quick enough to make a profit. I know the market is somewhat unpredictable, but I am ready for the challenge. I'd like to speak to like minded people who trade and almost make a network of friends to talk and grow with one another. My background is I am a 23 yr old with a finance degree, with little experience in the corporate world. I worked an AP specialist job and it was a waste of my college education. Looking to get into something better.

Hope to hear from you all thanks,

With all of the flooding, new operating plan, and layoffs should I sell my position in the stock or even short it before earnings... have a feeling the Q1 earnings are going to be bad
