Significant Insider Trading Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 29 Apr 2019 09:42 AM PDT This is a list of the top 20 companies that experienced the largest change in insider shares in the last seven (7) days. The SEC defines an insider as any officer, director or 10% shareholder. It is not illegal for these people to buy or sell their own shares. In fact, since most of them get paid in stock options, it is expected. However, it is illegal for them to trade on inside information that has not been made public. So for example if there are drug trial results that are bad and not public, insiders cannot dump shares. That said, many people have observed that insiders - in general - seem to have a good track record at timing their purchases. All trades that are marked as part of a 10b5 plan are excluded from this report. Largest Insider Buying (Last 7 Days)Largest Insider Selling (Last 7 Days)Count column is number of transactions. Economic growth is slowing even though year over year GDP growth was the fastest in 4 years. Posted: 29 Apr 2019 06:24 PM PDT Headline GDP growth of 3.2% signals no economic slowdown, but final sales signal otherwise. Final sales exclude the effect of net exports and private inventories. As you can see from the chart below, final sales to domestic purchasers' growth fell to 1.52%. This was a huge divergence from real GDP growth. It was the lowest growth rate in 6 years, meaning this report supports the thesis that there is an economic slowdown. Growth was about 0.8% below this expansion's average. Real GDP growth was about 0.9% above average. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Apr 2019 04:59 PM PDT Just downloaded Robinhood after talking with a guy who has made pretty good gains. Need a crash course in how to accomplish my goals in the market. Right now I have very little to invest, if all goes well with the sale of my house then my target goal to do serious investment would be around October or December. I would like to donsome small short trading until then, make small gains, cash out, and reinvest until around December and then do some long and mid lenght term investments, while still doing a small amount (say 20%) in short term. I have been doing some reading on the internet and watching skme youtube videos about investment, but I would like some advice, maybe a crash course, on what to look for in the market. I did buy 5 shares of Aurua Cannbis, simply because it was the cheaper of the two cannbis stocks and I had $50 to burn that I wont miss if I lose it. I would have liked to buy pintrest stock but I figured if Inhad $50 to lose Id rather go in at 5 shares of Aurua then 1 share of pintrest. Until December I will inly have hundreds to invest. In December (if all goes well) I'll be able to invest maybe 2 or 3K. My goal is by summer or fall of 2020 to have 10k to invest. Like I said, my current goal is to do short trades, understanding that my return will be small but I can reinvest the gains in other short trades (say weeks and months) until I can move up to mid l trades (couple years) and long tern trades (10+ years using the rule of 72) while still doing a small percentage of mid and short trades. I have no prior history or knowledge of the market. Any advice, or any links to websites, videos, or books to look at, would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Is Disney+ the Streaming Waterloo of Netflix? Posted: 29 Apr 2019 12:07 PM PDT Capitalism is working in a strange way. It is not a free market, but rather a highly oligopolistic arena at war, guided by the incentives of the visible hands: the central banks. https://macrowise.substack.com/p/is-disney-the-streaming-waterloo [link] [comments]

Where should I park my money for the next 12 months? Posted: 29 Apr 2019 01:53 PM PDT I'm planning on buying a house roughly one year from now. My house-fund currently consists of my $25k Robinhood account (invested primarily in QQQ, VOO, SPY, and DIA) as well as 12k in t-bills which I bought directly from treasury-direct. I realize the return on t-bills is basically the lowest available in the market, but I'm afraid that a major drop in equities over the next 12 months will force me to postpone my plan to buy a house. Where do you recommend I park my money over the next 12 months? I was originally thinking of gradually selling my equities and buying more t-bills, but I'm also wondering if there are any bond funds (or any other securities) that might better suit my timeline. Any recommendations are appreciated. [link] [comments]

Is this how Dividends affect stock price? Posted: 29 Apr 2019 09:12 AM PDT I'm newish, looking into how dividends work. First, the rules:
Is this correct? (Where of course 'X' comes before 'Y', which comes before 'Z') I'm going to use an example of a company with stock value $100 announcing a dividend of 2%. From what I can tell, upon dividend announcement on Day 'X', the value would quickly raise to $102 (or to $102.04 if the dividend is now worth 2% of its current market value rather than on announcement date). This raise would be due to traders simply wanting to capitalize on dividends, then opting out later. It would hold relatively steady until Day 'Y'. On Day 'Y', the ex-dividend date, the value would quickly decrease back towards $100, now that shareholders are already set to receive the dividend regardless of if they're holding the stock by the time Day 'Z' comes around. Is this correct? Is it common to see price rise upon announcement and fall on the ex-dividend date? And then those who are opting in for dividends must purchase prior to the ex-dividend date, not on the ex-dividend date? [link] [comments]
Tesla - Excellent analysis by Hamid Shojaee ($TSLA) Posted: 29 Apr 2019 05:51 PM PDT http://www.hamidshojaee.com/post/184522555004/teslas-autonomy-day-the-stock-short-sellers-and If you have an opinion on Tesla's future, this is worth a read. I don't expect it will change many minds, but it does sum up my thoughts on how they are positioned for the future and why the stock price TODAY is way under priced. Yeah, I'm that guy whose stock portfolio is 75% Tesla and growing. [link] [comments]
Abercrombie & Fitch – ANF – Stock Technical Analysis Report Posted: 29 Apr 2019 01:38 PM PDT ANF - Abercrombie & Fitch Co.Abercrombie & Fitch is a retail apparel industry stock in the consumer discretionary sector. ANF operates in two segments as Abercrombie and Hollister, and these include the Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, and Gilly Hicks brands. Since it is in the consumer cyclical sector, this is a stock that should perform well when the economy is performing well. This specialty retailer offers higher quality goods for consumers willing to spend the extra money on their products. Because of this, consumers that buy their products feel positive about their economic future, and are willing to spend some extra cash. ANF Medium-Term Technical Analysis
ANF Short-Term Technical Analysis
ANF Technical Analysis ReportThe stock hasn't done much over the last 20 years, and is not a stock I would buy long-term with an expectation of growth over time. ANF is currently in a potential inverse head and shoulders pattern (it is a "potential" pattern because it is only classified as a head and shoulders pattern after it has broken the neckline). This is one of the most popular patterns in technical analysis, and they generally signal a new trend. If the stock can clear the $28 neckline we may be looking at a new uptrend towards $61, a strong resistance. The stock will need to clear $28 over the next couple of weeks, if not it voids the pattern. If the stock fails to clear $28 soon, $28 is still our breakout price, but we will be looking at a different pattern. If the stock stays above the minor uptrend line in the 5-year chart, then we are likely looking at an ascending triangle. If the minor uptrend line fails to hold, then we may be looking at a rectangle pattern, with the breakout signal still being above $28. Previous Trading SignalsPrior to the bearish channel breakout, the stock moved between the channel resistance and support fairly consistently. Meaning the stock touched the resistance then continued to fall, and when the stock hit the support, it moved back up towards the channel top. Because this is a bearish channel, the trade would have been to go short when the channel touched the resistance, and sell when it hit the channel support. The stop would have been placed above the channel top. If the stock never made it to the channel bottom, then your stop would have still allowed you to take advantage of the downtrend and capture some profits if done early enough. What to Watch

Advices or tricks for new comer? Posted: 29 Apr 2019 04:45 PM PDT Hello, I'm going to pour my first 10k in the market. Do you guys have some advices for me? Posted: 29 Apr 2019 10:38 AM PDT In this week's episode of Hidden Forces, Demetri Kofinas speaks with Kevin Smith and Otavio Costa of Crescat Capital, in a continuation of our recent markets coverage, with a particular focus on specific indicators that could validate a bear market hypothesis. It has been difficult not to feel anxiety and trepidation while looking out across the Value-Price Continuum during the last few years. Many of us understand that our economy no longer functions as advertised. Financialization of the US economy over the past four decades has skewed the relationship between price and value in favor of price, specifically in favor of higher prices. The unprecedented support that monetary authorities provided financial intermediaries and asset holders during the last bear market has created noticeable price distortions and has raised serious questions about the usefulness of traditional indicators in assessing asset values. It is also unclear how meaningful traditional economic data like GDP and unemployment are in the face of ever-higher nominal public/private debt levels and aging populations. We have experienced three intermediate corrections during this secular bull market. Most notably, the periods between the summers of 2011 – 2012 and 2015 – 2016, which proved to be head-fakes for investors who were expecting the market to enter the bear territory. With the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite climbing above their all-time closing highs last week, will this last year's declines prove similarly inconsequential, leading us ever higher in an unusually prolonged bull-market? Kevin Smith and Otavio Costa make their case for why this market rally is different and how they are positioning Crescat Capital and its investors for the bear market to come. [link] [comments]

The Stock Market and Inflation Posted: 29 Apr 2019 10:42 AM PDT I was surprised to see that the Venezuelan stock market is actually up a lot nominally speaking since the country's crises. It makes one wonder if stock markets in general serve as good inflation hedges. This surprised me because I would assume that hyperinflation would destroy consumers' spending, which would then bleed over to company's revenues. I forecast that inevitably USA will have a serious inflation issue. But I guess you can protect yourself by being invested in the stock market. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
