Significant Insider Trading Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 24 Apr 2019 08:35 AM PDT This is a list of the top 20 companies that experienced the largest change in insider shares in the last seven (7) days. The SEC defines an insider as any officer, director or 10% shareholder. It is not illegal for these people to buy or sell their own shares. In fact, since most of them get paid in stock options, it is expected. However, it is illegal for them to trade on inside information that has not been made public. So for example if there are drug trial results that are bad and not public, insiders cannot dump shares. That said, many people have observed that insiders - in general - seem to have a good track record at timing their purchases. All trades that are marked as part of a 10b5 plan are excluded from this report. Largest Insider Buying (Last 7 Days)Largest Insider Selling (Last 7 Days)Count column is number of transactions. I've done a report on Amazon, pre results. Posted: 24 Apr 2019 04:26 AM PDT Hi there, I've been asked for a few reports on US stocks, prior to their results this week. As always, the majority of my content is on Europe equities whereas the majority of readers here are US based. MSFT – Microsoft Technical Analysis Report Posted: 24 Apr 2019 02:56 PM PDT MSFT - Microsoft Corp.Microsoft is a technology company, specifically in the software-infrastructure industry. The stock is in a number of indices, including the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the Nasdaq Composite, the Nasdaq-100, and the S&P 500. Most will know Microsoft for their Windows operating system, but they also have educational and business programs such as Microsoft Office, which contains Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. Also, Skype, Xbox, Bing, and LinkedIn are part of the Microsoft portfolio. MSFT Medium-Term Technical Analysis
MSFT Short-Term Technical Analysis
MSFT Technical Analysis ReportMSFT has performed well over the last decade, but it really took off in 2016 where it grew from less than $55 to more than $120 today. The stock has been influenced by the trend line which began at the end of 2012. In 2013, the stock broke out of a rectangle/channel, on a minor uptrend support line. In 2015, the stock started to move sideways again, but began a new uptrend. The new uptrend is parallel to the 2012 uptrend, and the 2012 support line became a resistance line. This created a channel, which the stock is still in. With a target of at least $165 this stock is a BUY. The sell signal comes if the stock falls out of the channel it is currently in. With this in mind, there are more advantageous buy signals where the risk/reward ratio is better than buying at any random point. Trading SignalsBuying the channel support. This entry point provides the best risk to reward ratio, but over the last three and a half years, the stock has only tested the support three times. It may be a while before the stock tests this support again. Buy and sell when the stock crosses its 50-week moving average. This is another long-term signal, and it has only occurred four times since 2013. However, it has been a great signal since then. The Golden Cross. This is another signal that has only occurred a handful of times. This signal is generated when the 50-day moving average crosses above the 200-day moving average. Buying the 50-day moving average. This is most likely the best option of the four, because it occurs much more often. The 50-day moving average has been a fairly reliable support since the stock made its way past $55. This signal occurs more often, and it could provide a better entry point compared to buying it well above the the average line. ConclusionOverall, this has been, and still is, a great stock to own. The stock has a technical target of $165, and a sell signal if the stock falls below its long-term trend line support or 50-week moving average. If the stock reaches the $165 target, sell a part of your position, but hold onto some shares until the current uptrend channel support is broken. This allows you to capture some gains while also holding out for potential growth. This big rally since Christmas Eve hasn't been that unusual. Posted: 24 Apr 2019 06:27 PM PDT When the economy isn't in a recession, the losses incurred during bear markets are recovered on average after 6.5 months. This time it took 4 months. Corrections are tests to see if the economy is headed for a recession. When those tests go too far and the market nears a 20% decline, it makes sense that rapid recoveries soon follow. Melinda Gates on capitalism: 'We don't have it all right' Posted: 24 Apr 2019 04:06 PM PDT The U.S. capitalistic system has been raked over the coals this year. You can count Melinda Gates in JPMorgan Chase & Co. CEO Jamie Dimon's camp. Both think that capitalism isn't without its faults. Dimon, who devoted an entire chunk of his latest annual letter to shareholders to the merits of capitalism, concluded that capitalism needs work. election. From the finance world, Ray Dalio, billionaire investor and founder of the world's largest hedge fund Bridgewater, took capitalism to task in an 8,000-word LinkedIn post earlier this month. Guess Dalio forgot what helped him make those billions. Gates is arguably better at understanding the topic than all of the aforementioned names combined. Her unmatched wealth and leadership atop the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has sent her across the world to help improve the health and education systems of impoverished villages. Gates has seen firsthand what having money — and not having it — could mean to a society's health. "I absolutely want to live in a capitalistic society. And the people I meet in so many countries in Africa and Asia want to live in the United States, because of capitalism and democracy," Gates, the co-chair along with husband Bill of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundations, told Yahoo Finance. "We don't have it all right, though," she said, echoing Dimon. Dimon explained in his shareholder letter. "This is not to say that capitalism does not have flaws, that it isn't leaving people behind and that it shouldn't be improved. It's essential to have a strong social safety net – and all countries should be striving for continuous improvement in regulations as well as social and welfare conditions." He added, "I am not an advocate for unregulated, unvarnished, free-for-all capitalism. (Few people I know are.) But we shouldn't forget that true freedom and free enterprise (capitalism) are, at some point, inexorably linked." Gates, who is the author of a new book "The Moment of Lift," offered a suggestion: "I think it's time for us to look at our tax policy. We should be taxing the wealthy more than middle-class, middle-class more than low-income. We have too much inequity in society. So we need to have some of these policy discussions, and we need to tweak our capitalistic system so it works for everybody, not just the wealthy." Significant Activist Hedge Fund Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 24 Apr 2019 08:35 AM PDT These are the latest Schedule 13D forms filed by activist investors in the last 7 days. Activist investors are investors that make an investment with the intention of influencing management in some way. There is evidence that following activist investors into investments can generate excess returns. Schedule 13G forms, in contrast, are filed by significant investors with no intention of influencing management (such as Index funds). There is always a lot of interest in insider trades, but what a lot of people probably don't realize is that hedge fund activity is probably more predictive of future returns than insider activity. The reason is that hedge funds (a) have large research budgets, and (b) have a choice where to put their money. In contract, insiders have no choice where to put their money, but only when to time their transactions. New FilingsThis table lists new 13D filings in the last week. A new filing does not necessarily indicate a new position, as investors frequently accumulate in advance before reaching the filing threshold. Amended FilingsThis table lists amended filings in the last week, and is useful for monitoring changes in existing investments or when a fund closes a position. I have eliminated all filings with less than a 5% change in ownership. Source: Fintel.io/activists [link] [comments]

Analysts (still) warning of lower iron ore prices Posted: 23 Apr 2019 09:26 PM PDT Iron Ore prices have risen almost 50 percent across most markets since the lows of November 2018. Much of the recent gain in prices can be put down to the collapse of a dam at Brumadinho, a Vale SA run mine in Brazil in late January. However, it has now been a few months, and Vale is starting to reopen closed mines. https://www.traderscircle.com.au/analysts-still-warning-of-lower-iron-ore-prices/ [link] [comments]
what r some good stocks to get rn Posted: 24 Apr 2019 08:50 AM PDT k, so, I've been looking into stocks lately but I haven't figured out what to get. I have a budget of around $500 and I will be buying my stocks using e-trade (this is important for fees and commissions). The home depot looks like a great stock and is really constant but I'm not really sure if there are stocks with better profit out there. With the home depot, u get around a 19% yearly profit btw. I've also been looking into some airlines. The airline stocks look like they go highest during Christmastime and a bit after school summer break starts. American airlines are highest in profit, crew size, passengers, fleet size, and revenue. It seemed like it was really high exactly 1 year ago in April but now it's at a low so I don't think its really that good. Delta has the most assets and has the best market capitalization and they always get higher every year during the same times so its a steady stock. Turkish Airlines has the most countries served so I think it would be good but I'm not sure. I'll probably get apple regardless when they make the next announcement for an event when people start ordering new phones. Tmobile looks like it's constantly growing. There is also this drone aviation holding Corp. which recently had a spike, went down and is now going up. even tho it is at a low price per share, it seems like it would be a great stock to invest in. I don't think Disney would do me much good because the streaming thing already spiked it and I missed my mark. NIKE is whatever. I've heard good things about the motley fool but it's been the same for a while now. I've really been wanting to get a marijuana stock but its really hard to know which companies are going to do well in marijuana. It's gonna be legalized in the US so people are going to start using it more and more and in Canada, the use of it is spreading like wildfire. and for the final one, etrade; it has its own stock. I don't know but I feel like stocks have growing popularity and a lot of people will rely on them for making money. it's currently at $45 and it just went down a lot. it looks like it's going up again so now might be a good time to buy. I really don't know what would be good to buy. I would love to hear your opinions, ideas and suggestions to help me start off with stocks. What would be the best stock for me to get considering my budget and software/market? I'm open to suggestions, not just the ones that I put. thx [link] [comments] |
