TORONTO — Cronos Group Inc. is one of two Canadian cannabis producers to have inked a multibillion-dollar deal with a big American company.

The $1.8 billion investment Marlboro maker Altria Group Inc. MO+2.68% made in Cronos CRON+3.87% CA:CRON+3.13% in December legitimized overnight a company that produces far less cannabis than rivals such as Canopy Growth Corp. CGC+3.55% CA:WEED+3.2% .

Does anyone hold triple leveraged index funds long term?

    Posted: 27 Apr 2019 09:10 AM PDT

Apparently, most experts advise against it and only recommend holding them for a few days. But I'm thinking that I would like to try to risk a small portion of my portfolio into a leveraged S&P500 index like SSO after the next crash, and hold it for a while. Does anyone do this?

    Thanks in advance

    The Greener the Better

    Posted: 27 Apr 2019 02:20 PM PDT

So I've been wanting to add to my portfolio but couldn't decide what sector to look in. Biotech was obviously a big one but I would really like to get into some green companies. Maybe companies that make items that would normally be made out of plastic, out of bamboo or other biodegradable materials. Anyway if you have any stock suggestions I'd love to hear them.

    What’s Disney’s ceiling?

    Posted: 27 Apr 2019 11:44 AM PDT

I bought Disney at $110 almost two years ago and at the time I had set a five year price target of $180.

With the launch of Disney+, the Fox deal, the intellectual property at its disposal and the surplus cash available for more strategic acquisitions, I sense that Disney could grow exponentially and yield super normal gains over the next twelve to eighteen months.

    Thoughts anyone?

DRRX could very well move soon.

Simply judging by the 5 year history and past performance. New products set in the future, and it's low price right now. It's looking like a nice bet right now. Who else is watching?

    3M Co. thoughts?

3M price drops from 219 to 191.67. Is it time to invest or pull out?

    Sophisticated stock screening

    Posted: 27 Apr 2019 12:47 PM PDT

Most stock screeners provide basic filtering on the underlying data without doing much analysis or providing additional insight. This can lead to some very spurious outcomes. Eg. filter for stocks with dividend yields about say 5%. All sort of stocks will pop up with some remarkable looking yields. Only problem is that in many cases those dividends are about to disappear .... slowly followed by the company. So, simplistic filtering of this nature is not all that useful.

With advances in tech and AI it has become feasible to distil the underlying data to create insight. Additionally, it is even better if the analysis combined the different analytical disciplines: fundamental, macro, quant. Combine all of those with the power of AI .... and there you really have a useful screener.

I have come across something like this but looking for others so I can see which is best. More than happy to share what I find out. All and any ideas welcome.

    BANKS IN CANADA

    Posted: 27 Apr 2019 12:41 PM PDT

Which banks do you Canadians use? I'm looking at TD to open a stock account because they have international accounts. What do or is there other websites or somewhere else I can get an account through?
