    How does shorting exactly work?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 08:21 PM PDT

I'm just learning. So I'm curious how goes shorting work? When you are finally approved for your short, is there already a decided price? Does the original owner sell them at a agreed price and you get the funds? Or do you just get the exact shares you requested and it's up to you to sell whenever? Basically selling to begin the short sale?

J.P. Morgan Chase (JPM) Technical Analysis Stock Report

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 01:56 PM PDT

BR Technicals' Technical Analysis Report – J.P. Morgan Chase (JPM)

    March 26, 2019 (Published April 1, 2019)

    Prepared By Brandon Ross, CMT

Read report with charts and download the PDF report here: https://www.brtechnicals.com/j-p-morgan-chase-jpm-stock-report/

    Long-Term Analysis

    • The stock broke out of the top of the channel in 2016.
      • Fell back in, in 2018.
      • Still has the lower channel line to act as a support.
    • $39 resistance line, now a likely support.
      • Back in 2009-2011.
    • MAJOR divergences in the MACD and RSI indicators.
      • However, support lines always take precedence. Will confirm bearish divergence signals if the stock falls below lower uptrend channel support line.
    • Current resistance around $116.

    Medium-Term Analysis

    • Is the stock currently in a double top?
    • The stock is still within a channel, and has the lower uptrend line to support it.
    • The slope of the channel tells us the break of the upper channel line is more of an overbought signal/euphoria trade, and not necessarily a buy signal.

    Short-Term Analysis

    • Channel between $116 – $103.
    • Support at $90.

      • The stock looks like it may test the uptrend channel bottom, and the $90 support. If this happens, it could be a very good time to buy as the two supports cross each other.
    • If the channel is a double top reversal pattern, then the pattern failed when the stock moved back into the channel in early 2019.

      • However, a minor triple top occurred between June and October 2018.
    • Bearish MACD, but not on RSI.

    Report

JPM started its long term trend a little later than the rest of the stock market. Since 2011, the stock grew as much as 383%. For 5 years, the stock was moving along a trend line similar to its 200-weekly moving average, but then came the Trump Bump, which helped financial stocks a lot. After Trump won the election in 2016, the stock climbed above its channel resistance, and the line became a support. This was a buy signal because the market was repricing in the hopes that President Trump's economic agenda would spur growth, and raise balance sheets.

Soon though, the stock and the rest of the market began to feel euphoric. Investors had the fear of missing out, and the stock climbed above its medium-term channel. This was a sign of over exuberance, and a good time to sell the stock would have been when it crossed back below the top trend line. However, the stock did make another attempt to clear the resistance line once again, but failed shortly after. These two failed breakouts have now built a rectangle pattern between $103 and $116. The stock fell below the $103 support during the 2018 market drop, and it gave us a valuable piece of information: a $90 support.

There are some bearish signs that the stock has reached its peak. The first is the double top reversal pattern. The stock moved up to $116 two times, then fell below the $103 support. However, the pattern was violated when the stock moved back above $103 after falling to $90. The other signs come from the very large divergences present in the weekly MACD and RSI indicators. These Bearish divergences mean momentum is turning towards the downside.

If you hold JPM, the current outlook is to HOLD. The stock has some bearish signs, but the trend/support lines always take precedence. Unfortunately, it is likely too late to strategically take some risk off the table by selling some of the position when the stock crossed back into the channel from the top. A sell signal is generated when the stock's price falls below the 200-weekly moving average. I have chosen this as the sell signal because the moving average has followed the trend line fairly well, and its possible that the broken trend line recovers because the buyers step in at the moving average.

Another reason I chose the 200-weekly moving average as a sell signal is because there is still some hope that the stock reaches $90 again, and begins to climb higher from there. The short-term chart shows the $90 support crossing the bottom channel support line in late April/early May. If the stock touches the support lines there, then it could continue higher. Supports work really well when two of them are acting at the same time. This would be a great place to open a position, or add to an existing one.

    Just as the title says.
What websites you guys use for useful info about buying/selling stocks?
    Thanks in advance :)
I like how the info is presented in the "wallet investor" but it sounds way too "easy" to me.

    Thoughts on my portfolio?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 03:07 PM PDT

I just ditched VKTX because I was almost even from the huge hole I got in to it at. I didn't know where to put that $, so I just parked it in Disney, beefed up CZR a bit, and bought a Merck share. I am down a little under 7.5% since I started investing 14 months ago. I have made some portfolio changes over time, but this is what I am at now. USAT I bought more when it went way down. I've gotten most of that back, but I am holding most of it in the hope it recovers more.

    AMZN 1 Share $1,812.25 MSFT 14 Shares $1,667.96 TTWO 14 Shares $1,367.24 USAT 251 Shares $1,074.28 MU 20 Shares $848.00 ALXN 6 Shares $833.52 PLAY 14 Shares $749.70 PYPL 6 Shares $631.38 BABA 3 Shares $540.00 DIS 5 Shares $559.80 NVDA 2 Shares $365.84 AGS 10 Shares $235.60 CZR 25 Shares $220.75 MRK 1 Share $83.21 CRBP 10 Shares $72.30 NAK 49 Shares $28.96

    Ditch or hold VKTX?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 08:29 AM PDT

I made the mistake of buying this and then hemorrhaged like 25% on it... I've gotten back almost all of it... Would you say hold or ditch it?

T-Mobile Stock, Sprint Could Be Volatile On U.S., State Merger Decisions

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 07:30 AM PDT

Shares of T-Mobile US (TMUS) and Sprint (S) sold off last week on worries the merger could fall apart. If that happens, T-Mobile would still be in good shape, although it needs more radio spectrum, analysts say. Debt-laden Sprint, though, would be in trouble if the merger doesn't happen. Sprint is burning cash at a high rate.

Many analysts put odds of Justice Department approval at 50-50. There's growing speculation some states could files suit to block the merger.
