Do you invest in Internal Comms? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 02:59 AM PDT Hi, With the millennial generation and generation z taking over the workplace, priority for employee communication has been at an all time high. How do you balance a full time job and your small business? Posted: 31 Mar 2019 09:47 PM PDT So just like the title says I'm just curious on how everyone balances a full time job (if you have one) and running your business on the side. Currently my job is killing me. It's full of toxic POS and I can't handle it but on the other hand my boss is very supportive and flexible with my schedule and my business and it's impossible to find another job within the restaurant industry that's flexible with my schedule like my current place is. I don't know if I'm "balancing" my full time job but I just try to tackle each day with a smile on my face and hopefully around this time next year it'll just be me and my business lol. I’m a bit confused about the asset protection elements of an LLC Posted: 01 Apr 2019 03:00 AM PDT If I transfer funds from my LLC's business checking account to my personal bank account, then use those funds to pay the mortgage on a house, if someone sues my LLC can they come after my house? Or can they only come after my house if I directly use my LLC's business checking account to pay the mortgage on a house? Even if it's just once, by mistake? [link] [comments]
Do you operate a brick and mortar business? I need your expertise. Posted: 31 Mar 2019 03:53 PM PDT Those of you that own a brick and mortar business what services do you outsource to other business instead of doing yourself? For example: window washing, deep cleaning, delivery etc. I am curious about the problems that small business owners run into, but can't necessarily handle by themselves. Are there any small tasks that you currently have to do but would rather outsource? [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Mar 2019 08:44 PM PDT I've been working as a consultant for app/webapp dev. Wanted to productize some services I do, so was thinking maybe prototyping would be a good idea (3-4 screens and good design seems cool). So the gig is 💡you tell me your idea for eg; "Uber for pizzas" 🗣️ I'll go through the idea to discuss a few queries with you 📨 then I'll share a prototype as an apk etc., (something similar to your grand idea, but it's just a shell to act like the real thing) 👬 you can show your potential users gather feedback, also investors in case you are pitching someone (I've been thinking of some other features too, but for now, that's the overall gig) If any of you are interested in the first month, I'd like to give my prototyping service for free. You can pm or write down below. Also if you have inputs on whether you have bought such services before and how your experience was I'd be happy to hear. Thanks. [link] [comments]
About to start a food service business. Do I need to LLC? Posted: 31 Mar 2019 08:26 PM PDT The restaurant I work at is an INC company, not an LLC. From what I understand (correct me if I'm wrong) an LLC protects your personal assets if the company gets sued. So as an INC if someone gets injured or sick at the restaurant they can maybe bankrupt the company and they can go after the owners personal assets. With an LLC, they can only take from the buisness and the owner's assets are protected. Is that right? I'm about to start a food service business of my own. I won't have any staff, but there's always the tiny chance I slip up and make someone sick with my cooking. I own a home and don't want to risk losing it. So do I need to LLC? [link] [comments]
Does anyone use a newsletter editor? Posted: 31 Mar 2019 08:05 PM PDT I'm just getting started and am writing some lead generators and items for my newsletter. I tend to be very dry and academic, so I'm considering hiring someone to edit my articles for organization and to add some levity, photos, and umph. Does anyone else have someone do this for them? How does this work for you? Do you charge by the article? By the word count? I have someone in mind but would like to have a more solid idea before I approach her. She'd be working remotely. Anything I should consider before talking to her? She'd be my first ever hire. Thanks! [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Mar 2019 06:56 PM PDT Like to set up the paperwork for business, grants, set up payroll, loans, set up accounting. Learning the basics in order to manage the business on the administration side. How does someone that is for example a engineer that can engineer, prototype, knows the in and outs of the product learn about the administration side of business? [link] [comments]
Expectations of taxes on freelance graphic design Posted: 31 Mar 2019 05:54 PM PDT Spouse is starting a graphic design business and we know we will have to seek the advice of a professional soon but just looking for what we can expect. At what point does she have to file quarterly taxes vs filing status the end of the year? She doesn't plan to be aggressive with it since we still have a younger child not in school yet, but she may still make more than 1k in the first 6 weeks. Should she consider an LLC? Anything else to consider? [link] [comments]
How do subcontractors typically market themselves to contractors? Posted: 31 Mar 2019 04:50 PM PDT Hi there! My boyfriend is starting a small business in the construction industry as a subcontractor (installing high-end window blinds, shutters, shades, etc. on behalf of custom window design companies), and I'm helping him with the marketing. I'd like to know what types of marketing materials subcontractors - or any small B2B business for that matter - use to introduce / present themselves to their prospective contractors. I'm wondering if there is a specific type of document that is often used to "sell" / explain services. I live in the corporate world where resumes reign, but it seems like in this situation it might be more appropriate to submit a document outlining a summary of skills and business offerings, rather than a traditional resume detailing job history. Does anyone have any insight into this who might be willing to give us some pointers? Thanks a lot! [link] [comments]

Need help on marketing questions Posted: 31 Mar 2019 03:54 PM PDT I have a business plan and very specific qualifications and I know there's a market for my services. I mainly offer 2 services (both based in Germany, but I guess the advertising/marketing principles would be the same): a. Opening companies for foreign (mainly Chinese) clients. b. Assisting clients with investments, mostly in real estate. These two are separate services. And then there are some "smaller" services like German/English/Chinese translation, interpretation at exhibitions and so on. So I have 3 questions:

My family is opening a restaurant soon, and I have a few questions. Posted: 31 Mar 2019 12:00 PM PDT Hello everyone, My family is building a restaurant from the ground up next month and we are trying to choose the correct POS and I also have a few overall questions. We are currently a Food truck with sales that are between 25-30k per month with costs of around 35%. This month or so we are averaging about 10k cost in marketing but this is because we are opening a restaurant soon and we currently don't have any employees. I'm trying to invest in social media marketing and overall online presence while we don't have any employee cost. Our sales are continuously increasing and the hype for the restaurant is being shown online and at our Food Truck. These are my questions and I'm sorry I have so many! I just have so many questions over this transition. I got used to the food truck but I'm nervous and excited for the restaurant. POS:

Posted: 31 Mar 2019 02:47 PM PDT Hi I am opening my small business soon and I'd like to hear from y'all what you recommend is a simple/easy to use punch in equipment for employees? That's also reliable and has good ratings. [link] [comments]
Solution Companies, What am I overlooking? Posted: 31 Mar 2019 02:25 PM PDT I am still in my 20's but I see potential in creating a solutions group IT company, I would really appreciate your feedback as in to see what are common practices of the industry, and if what I am planning to do is on par with the market. The basic method for my method of making money is that for instead of a company wasting 70K on a dedicated IT person, they would give me 60K and would have an entire team supporting them, no need for 2 weeks off, or any of the hassle of an employee, and you get an IT team. On the back end, For every IT person I pay 70K, he would be handling around 3 companies, so for every 70K I pay, I want to make 180K. Now, I should be acquiring my CCNA Cert by the end of this summer, that being said, I do plan to partner with some other CCNA classmates. But is it enough? What am I not seeing? Is CCNA enough to cover all IT needs? The basic IT is no problem, but what else would I need? Will I be able to cover VoIP needs? Server Management? Just basically, what is the Team I need to acquire to get my first contracts up? What should I be looking for? What am I missing out in the middle? I would appreciate any advice, Thank you in advance [link] [comments]
Fashion Brand Naming/copyright advice! Posted: 31 Mar 2019 09:52 AM PDT Hi, I have no previous experience in business - I am a UK designer hoping to finally start my own fashion knitwear brand. I finally decided on a name in this example lets call it 'Example Knit'. (Obviously it's not that but I'd rather not disclose it online - just in case!) So I've looked and exampleknit.co.uk URL is available, the instagram handle etc etc, so I thought - great! I wanted to check out brands that might have a similar name just to be safe. As far as I can see there is one brand called 'Example London' and they have this copyrighted/trademarked. Is mine a safe brand name to go through with being as there is another brand in a similar product category and also in the UK. Basically is the suffix Knit vs. London enough of a difference in your opinion? Another thing I wanted to check is whether it is OK for the brand to be exampleknit.co.uk, @exampleknit on instagram and twitter etc but for the logo to drop the 'knit' and simply say 'EXAMPLE' - this would be on the website, on any branding and the fabric labels inside the clothing would only say 'EXAMPLE'. Thanks for any advice you can give in advance! [link] [comments]
Is it worth setting up a clothing alterations business? Posted: 31 Mar 2019 01:32 PM PDT I live in the UK and I'm a professional seamstress, experienced in various alterations/repairs (also making clothing, jewellery, customisations) For a while I've been wanting to set up my own alteration business but heard people say it wouldn't be popular or bring in enough money. The town I live in is very busy, there are about 6 alteration places here - 2 dry cleaners which offer basic alterations, a men's tailor, a home business, bridal shop and an alterations shop which isn't in the main town/high street area (about 1.5 mile away). I specialise in women's clothing and can do pretty much all alterations apart from advanced bridal so would need to train in those skills if I was to offer a full on bridal alterations service although I'm not sure I want to go down the bridal route. I'm experienced in vintage, dance/sportswear, holy communion, prom etc and also men's alterations. I'm in my mid 20s and think my target audience would be from 20-45 (assuming most people over 45 already have somewhere they go or already know basic alterations from being taught at school/factory work) I think what would make my business different from the others is I'm more modern and fashion aware so would possibly attract a younger crowd with the right marketing hopefully. My issue is I'm not sure if it's what people need as people say it's a dying trade and also the obsession with high street shopping but I see so many alterations shops in London (im not in London though) that are really busy and successful, we're also in a time where people are buying more vintage and second hand and also wanting more better fitted clothing imo but I guess some people just don't think about getting things altered, I know I need to do more research on this. I don't want to rely on just random customers though and want to offer my services to retail/vintage business and various others like contract work but need to figure this out. I would like to open a shop in the town area or near and my plan would be to have the shop so the workroom is separate and there would be a dressing room area to make more private kind of like if you were to walk in a bridal shop so you have that kind of personal experience with being fitted instead of just trying something in a corner behind a rail. I'm just so undecided if it's the right thing to pursue or not? Atm I work but will probably start small and set up a workshop in my house, social media and make business cards and build contacts and see where it takes me. I also don't know anything about accounting etc so that side of things does worry me too :/ [link] [comments]

FedEx Route Businesses (Canada) Posted: 31 Mar 2019 12:21 PM PDT I am interested in purchasing a route business. I am not a driver. Does anyone have any experience with this business and can you offer any insight? Has anyone bought a route business before? What are things to look out for when looking into a potential route business that is for sale? [link] [comments] |
