Ancestor donated land to a college with a stipulation that his descendants can attend for free with proceeds from donation

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 04:24 AM PDT

One of my ancestors donated money and land to a college in MA, in his will, with the stipulation that "any of his kin" can attend for free with proceeds from the donation given they are accepted with their own merit. The will is dated way more than a 100 years ago, but the college is still active with one of their building named after this man.

My grandmother always talked about this when I was younger (her maiden name is the same as this man), but me nor any of the family gave it any thought. Years later, after the internet became a thing, we were contacted by a distant relative doing research into the family background. After a lot of research I managed to find a copy of the will online and save it.

I am wondering if this is something worth pursuing for my son(2)? If so, where do I start? What kind of lawyer would even specialize in this? We live in MI

Uptdate: [AZ] Patient hit my car and didn't stay, am I violating HIPAA if I give them away?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2019 03:11 PM PDT

It wasn't a super popular post, but I want to thank everyone who responded and those who sent PM's.

Risk management finally got back to me yesterday and even though they do not believe it will violate HIPAA to do so, they do not want me to report him to the police. The estimates to fix my car are around $6000, which they offered to pay as well as pay for a rental car. I figure they figure it's cheaper to pay to fix my car then deal with this guy.

So, not a very satisfying ending for those hoping for justice.

My upstairs neighbours are insane, and are preventing me from enjoying my apartment. My landlord keeps saying he will do something, but after 6 months nothing has happened. I can't live like this, do i have any options aside from moving out?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 11:30 AM PDT

    My location: Ontario, Canada.

6 months ago, new tenants moved into the unit upstairs, from what i can tell it is a mother/daughter. The daughter is in her late 20's, has no job, and is mentally unstable. Every day ether the mom/daughter are having massive arguments, or the daughter is screaming at her friends.

The mom works night shifts, and then the daughter has people over until 4->5am, blasting music, screaming at the top of her lungs, etc. Police have been called on numerous occasions, and bylaw has ticketed them several times. I also know the daughter has been removed from the apartment on more than one occasion by police due some of the really bad disputes.

Last night, the mom/daughter were drunk, and then they lost their shit at each other for some reason, and the mom started throwing her daughters stuff off her balcony, and screaming at her to get out. Police eventually showed and the up and the daughter was removed. Now it is ~2:20pm, the daughter is back and they are screaming at each other again, i can't take this anymore.

Numerous people have complained about them, and the landlord keeps insisting something will be done, but nothing ever comes of it. The last time our landlord apparently tried to talk to the daughter to cut her shit out she threatened to "stab" him. I gave up trying to talk to them after the first week, and just keep going to our landlord almost every other day.

The most peace i have had was one time where the daughter was kicked out, and she didn't come back for 2 weeks, everything was amazing.

Is there nothing i can do? This is directly impacting my mental health.

edit Also sorry if this sounds very rant like, i am just at the end of my rope here.

My brother was sold- now he wants to be a citizen

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 10:08 AM PDT

In the early 1990s my birth mother became pregnant as a teen to her first child - for the purpose of this post we will call him Mike.

Mike was born in a catholic charity hospital in Texas where the nuns put together his adoption where he was ultimately "adopted" by a family who paid my birth mother $100USD for Mike.

Mike was then sold once again across the border into Mexico where he now resides for $1000 by a family who actually wanted a child.

Mike is now married with 3 children and continues to live in México. Due to medical issues Mike and his family wants to move to the US for help.... but due to the transactions to lead to his move to Mexico he has no paper work proving either US or Mexican citizenship.

We have one transaction record ( a note written when his final family bought him) and a DNA test between he and myself proving that we are half siblings.

How do we straighten out his paperwork and how do we help him get citizenship in the US?

Cops caught me having sex.. HELP

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 02:15 AM PDT

[CALIFORNIA] My girlfriend (17) and I (18) had just finished and were continuing to just laying down in her backseat and a car pulls up behind us. Sure enough it was an officer. He asks us for ID and this is where he sees that im 18 with a 17 year old, the age of consent is 18. He investigates the situation. Asking both me and my girlfriend about our relationship, he even asked us for a number of how many times we've had sex in the 8 months we've been dating during separate questioning. I turned 18 2 months ago if that helps. He informed me that i am automatically the suspect because of my age. Her mother was called. They let me go home, but now im wondering whats going to happen to me now..

Can an employer claim ownership of an employee’s intellectual property OUTSIDE of work hours?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 06:55 AM PDT

My friend (let's call them Will) has just received a contract for a part-time job as a photographer/content creator in Australia. The following is from the IP segment of the contract:

"Intellectual Property: All work undertaken and materials created whilst employed by [Company Name], including but not limited to all correspondence, websites, material, systems, databases, information (written and graphic), remains the property of [Company Name]. On ceasing employment with [Company Name], all intellectual property must be left with the business."

Pretty standard stuff, but then we get to the last sentence:

"All rights of any nature to any intellectual property developed or created by you in the course of your employment, whether the intellectual property was created DURING BUSINESS HOURS OR NOT, will vest with [Company Name] upon creation."

Naturally as a creative person, he has other projects that he does in his own time. Can an employer claim the rights to their staff's IP outside of work, and can Will request a simple amendment to exclude creations made outside of company time?

Unlimited Student Card Cash Glitch, Am I Liable Here?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 10:51 AM PDT

The university I attend has required meal plans - each coming with various amounts of cash on a student card. The card can only be used at various cafes and places on campus. Tax gets paid on the card cash at the time that the cash is put on the card, usually at the beginning of the year for the meal plans. This means that any time money is spent at the various locations, if they tax you for your purchase, you get a tax refund into your account. The issue here is that there seems to be a glitch in the system for one of the particular locations. Any time I spend money there, instead of receiving the couple of cents worth of tax back into my account, I receive the entire purchase amount titled as "TAX REFUND". Essentially this has created a form of unlimited currency as far as my account goes, as I regularly spend money and always get the money back as a tax refund. My balance has not gone down in three months.

My big question here: Am I liable for any of the "unlimited" money on my account, particularly any money over what my original balance would have been. In the case that the university were to find out and charge me for any money over my balance, are they legally allowed to do so if it was a glitch in their system causing it? On top of that, am I legally obligated to inform the university of the glitch?

    Edit: Location is Canada

I’m seeking full custody of my daughter.

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 07:50 AM PDT

In Alabama. Not married. Have been with S/O for 18 years. We live together. Home is mine, all bills paid by me. NO shared accounts or anything co-signed. I am 34, she is 32. We have an 8 year old daughter together. My S/O is a drug addict with a long history of abuse, arrests and mental issues. She has no job, no car and zero effort to change. I'm codependent and enabling, fully aware of this, and am miserable and want to change my daughter's and my life for the better. She has nowhere to go if I kick her out. She threatens suicide every time we argue. I just want to create a better life for my daughter and myself with stability and happiness. What should I do?

(US, IN) Retiring MIL wants to put her business in husband's name to increase her income - I'm not so sure about this.

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 08:22 AM PDT

(US, Indiana) So, my mother-in-law is retiring next month from her regular day job. She also has a side business she's being running for a year or so. She recently asked my husband if she could put that side business in his name. This is a craft-show type business that is somewhat seasonal. She has mentioned possibly traveling to out of state shows once she's retired and will have more free time. **Edit - forgot to add, my husband would have zero interaction with this business & receive no income from it. It would be an 'in-name only' situation.

I'm getting this info second-hand, but it seems she wants to do this in order to get around Social Security's income restrictions (she's retiring at 62). Once the business is in his name, she will set herself up as an employee and hire a payroll company to make sure the appropriate taxes are taken out. She is assuring my husband that the business will be set up in a way where he'll have zero personal risk of any tax liability or other issues and that the lawyer SHE hires will actually by HIS lawyer working for HIS best interests. We are also in the final months of a Chapter 13 bankruptcy - I'm assuming we would have to get our Trustee's ok to even do this. We've both worked so hard at getting back on track financially and I don't want to put that at risk.

I did some research and I'm not understanding why this is even necessary. From what I read, if she does exceed the monthly net income limit her benefits will get reduced, but that reduction is actually deferred until she reaches full retirement age so she'll end up getting the money anyway. I'm guessing one possibility is that without the full SSI & side business income, she won't have enough income for her monthly expenses - she's apparently told my husband that she has no retirement savings/401k/pension. If she's making enough net income to exceed SSI's limit, how is she going to get this extra money if she's only paying herself enough to meet the limit?

Naturally, my husband wants to help his mom out and is ok with this. I'm not so sure. I don't think she would go into this with the intention to do anything to hurt her son, but I also know stuff can go sideways when you least expect it.

I'm 99.99% leaning towards a hard 'No' on this - I think there's no way to guarantee zero risk & the whole thing (to me) seems like fraud. My husband says he won't go forward unless I'm ok with it, so I'm reaching out to see if maybe I am looking at this the wrong way?

I was auto-subscribed to a weekly charge of $8.47 for downloading a free app

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 09:03 AM PDT

I don't know where to start. This has been going on since June of 2018. I should have noticed but my Chase statements get so cluttered sometimes that I guess I just didn't catch it until now. Somewhere around $370 has been taken from me and I'm lost on what I should do. I've already done the obvious and unsubscribed, but I don't have access to my Apple ID email so I cannot use that to contact the developer or Apple. The developer is a German company with German call service (I'm in Michigan). I never agreed to this subscription either. What are the first steps to take? Call the developer in hopes that they refund? Contact Chase about this? Can I even legally do anything about this if I never agreed to it? Am I SOL for $370? Any input from you guys would be crucial to me, I'm lost and desperate (and broke).

My passbook was taken away from me and I cannot find my grandfather who took it from me. I need to withdraw all the money I have in different banks which are all legally under my name.

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 04:17 AM PDT

    Hello!

As the title says. What kind of actions can I take to withdraw all deposits I have without the need of my passbooks? I have deposited different parts of my savings in different banks since the banks here in the Philippines only cover php500,000 of your money.

As I have mentioned to my grandfather about me leaving the family business and the country. He took all my passbooks and checkbooks with him. He is now nowhere to be found. We haven't contacted police yet since we want to keep this as a family matter only and not to escalated things further. Thing is, I have received a travel date from the embassy which I applied for visa and I have to transfer my assets before I leave the country.

Is there any way I can get my assets without those legally? What kind of lawyer should I look for so the bank will listen to me even if I can only show them my identification? and what more legal paperwork should I prepare if I plan to do so without hurting my grandfather's records?

Thank you so much for anyone who could help me and my family.

EDIT: I'm also at legal age but my knowledge about banking and their law is still new to me. I just don't want to tarnish my grandpa's reputation or records, I just really feel sorry for him now.

[NV] One of the places I work at takes our ID away in order to get in the building.

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 12:16 PM PDT

I work in a labor union that dispatches us out to various facilities to do our job. At one of the job sites, the building requires that we deposit our drivers licenses at a security booth next to the back entrance. We get a small badge to access the rest of the building for the rest of the day, and we have to write our names down with the number of that badge.

Is this legal at all? I really hate not having my own ID on me, and I can come up with a ton situations where our crew of dozens would not be able to rush to the opposite side of a property to get to their ID. Fire, attack, hell even a medical situation.

To me this seems to skirt past what is reasonable for a contracted employee to go through. i might be wrong though, so I would appreciate input.

    Thanks.

[IN] City council member repeatedly breaks the law and lets his off leash dog roam around the town. Cops won’t do anything about it. Who can I report this to so that he and others in my town stop breaking this law?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 10:40 AM PDT

Not sure if this is the right place for this post, but I'm at the end of my wits. This council member, and several other people in my small town, for some reason don't feel it's necessary to put their dogs on a leash and let them roam around town like it's no big deal. In the past 3 years my dog and I have been attacked on our walks four times, once by the dog owned by the city councilor, and chased after maybe a dozen times. My roommate was bit by a different off leash dog from a repeat offender, who is currently running for city council, a few months ago as well. The cops say they write these people citations for it, but when I check their public records no such citations show up.

I've gone to city council meetings and demanded for change about this problem, but since last year nothing has been done. The mayor says he created an independent council to investigate it, but so far nothing is being done to enforce it.

I suspect because it's a small town they let these kinds of things slide, but in my mind this is still corruption. Who can I report this to if the police wont enforce it? Or am I just SOL?

Tulsa, OK - My grandmother is being scammed by a man who claims to love her. She has sent him thousands and thousands of dollars and is in complete denial (even in the face of evidence). Is there any legal way secure her finances?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 10:25 AM PDT

My grandmother is a 72 year old retiree. She receives around $2,000 per month from social security and has thousands saved up. She owns her house and my wife, my child and I just moved in with her.

Last week we found out that she was talking to a guy via text - she would not reveal how they met. Apparently this man is a 36 year old military member who is stationed in Nigeria (and then she switched it to Kenya?). Apparently his mother has cancer. He has sent my grandmother pictures of himself. After doing some research, we found these pictures online on a YouTube video - a scam alert about a man who contacts elderly adults and gets money from them. We then found the real man's instagram - he has posted several times about how someone took his photos and is using them to scam people.

My grandma has sent him somewhere between 9 and $15,000 dollars - including itunes, starbucks, and apple gift cards. She has even contacted my aunt asking how to apply for a reverse mortgage. She is sneaking around because she knows we are scrutinizing her - so now she literally sneaks out of the house, drives to the store and buys gift cards to send him.

He has promised that he will visit (of course she sent him the money for a plane ticket), but he keeps pushing it back.

We have confronted her so many times and it is tearing my family apart. This is not like my grandma. But he promised that they will be "secret lovers".

Is there any legal way we can prove that she is acting irrationally and take control of her finances? And possibly transfer the deed to her house into our name so she can't lose it in some stupid way to send a scammer more money?

Any advice is appreciated. If I need to move this to /r/advice, please let me know.

EDIT 1: We have contacted the police who said she isn't a victim if she's willing. We have contacted Adult Protective Services - we put in a report but we haven't heard anything. My Mom took her to a family lawyer who said she is of sound enough mind that he won't do anything.

My mom was murdered last night and I need help

    Posted: 06 Apr 2019 06:51 PM PDT

    https://www.reddit.com/r/personalfinance/comments/baaol8/my_mom_was_murdered_last_night_and_i_need_help

As the title states, my mom who I loved was murdered last night. From my understanding she was murdered by the person she was renting a room to in her basement.

I don't know what to do or who to trust. Do I call her HR department to get the documents? What type of lawyer would I hire? Any help is appreciated. I don't really know what to ask or what to do.

She was just laid off yesterday too and received a severance package - I can't believe this has all happened. I know she had life insurance, but I don't know the details. When I talked with her yesterday she said her health insurance was good until the end of April and then she could go on COBRA.

She has a rental in a different state. I believe she has a recently updated will in her home, but we can't access it until the investigation is over.

My brother is power of attorney. I have other siblings and we all get together well.

I don't want this to be a sob story, I just need help.

    What do I do?

Friend trespasses then uses unauthorized recording on my property against me

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 08:23 AM PDT

Guy I used to be friends with had a business dispute with me... long story short, he goes into my house when only a minor is home without permission. I show up and he's inside. He secretly records me threatening him with very serious things only after I asked him to leave which was before the recording. Now he filed a restraining order and plans to use this recording in the hearing.

This is California, which is a 2 party consent state. Is there any reason he will be able to admit this? Thanks.

I recorded my neighbor being an asshole, should I delete it or use it?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 07:25 AM PDT

I live in a condo, on the first floor. My neighbor above me regularly throws his plant trimmings, dust pans etc over the side. The first time my fiance and I were eating out on the patio and dirt got in our food and in her laptop. I spoke with him and I was very cordial and neighborly, and he apologized profusely. Literally 5 mins later there is more stuff going over the side and he insisted he was "throwing it to the side so it wouldn't come in".

Almost every week now I clean up his trimmings after he throws them over the edge. When I catch him doing it, I confront him just to say hi we see you doing this. I've spoken to the management company, and they have also spoken to him with no luck. Finally last week my fiance recorded him while I was speaking with him. He admitted to persisting after being asked to stop, then told me to "deal with it" and then water poured on me while I was talking to him.

From what I can tell, FL is a 2 party state. It seems a bit grey because we are both on our patios, we don't directly see him, but the patio is considered a common element by the HOA. Can I use the video without audio showing the water being poured at least? Or can I use the whole thing to at least show the HOA that he has admitted continuing.

    Thank you.

Can I really be sued for a google review that is expressed as opinion and facts with evidence?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 01:47 AM PDT

In October, i brought my computer to a repair shop in California, Bay Area. In the end I received a computer with some new parts that still didn't work. (See details in my google review). I filed a credit card dispute and I lost because I signed off on the services. I was informed by the owner of the business that I had committed credit card fraud because I had the computer, (with some of their parts that i paid for, though they didn't all work), while also trying to get my money back. I did not realize this was a crime but I accepted my loss and let it go.

Overall, I was still astonished at how poor the service was and felt i should inform the public about the service I received, so last week, I left a review on google. I thought I had closed the door on this annoying chapter of my life.

Today, I received an email from the owner that if I do not delete my review by Monday, they will sue me. I now modified the review to make sure that it is stated as opinions, and any facts in the review can be backed up with evidence, so this is where I'm at.

I'd really rather not get sued right now, so any advice on how to handle this ridiculous situation would be appreciated. I'd love to know if there's anything you think I should edit in the review, or if I should just stop fighting. Below, you'll find the review I wrote, and the email I received from the store owner:

    ———————————————————————

My review: "*The following statements are my own opinion of my experience, and any facts stated can be supported by evidence.

This felt like worst experience I've had with any business. I brought my computer in for a water damage repair and they did not finish the work until January. I felt that they seldom called me for updates. I would check in with them myself, and I started to wonder if the people I talked to were on different pages.

I felt mistreated as a customer. The computer only worked for two hours before it died. They offered me a full refund, and then took the offer back and refused to let me speak with the manager. This was a 2010 MacBook Pro, and my initial question was, "Is this worth repairing?" I guess it wasn't.

Part of their policy reads "***** or its employees cannot be responsible for further breakage or data loss suffered from trying to make repairs on these sensitive products." But I wish that I was treated with more kindness through this difficult process.

I recently took the computer to ******* (different shop), where they offered me free diagnostics, and they observed that ***** put a "new" screen on my computer with a dead camera, and some screws were left out on the interior of the logic board. I never would have noticed this if it weren't for the helpful people at *******.

I would not recommend anyone to trust ***** with your computer repair needs."

    ———————————————————————

Owner's email: "Hi ****, We will give you until monday to take down your review. We tried our best to take care of you but you tried to commit fraud against us and now you are slandering us. We will contact our lawyers and open up litigation and create a potential damage suit against you. Please remove the review asap to avoid this."

    Thanks everyone for your input!

    Restraining order against mother?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 01:02 PM PDT

Hi there, looking for some legal advice. I think the flair is correct considering I'm looking to petition for a restraining order against my mother.

I am in the US in New Jersey.

Background: she abused me for years on end, I now suffer from PTSD and a chronic illness (science backs up that its due to her abuse). Anyhow, she just turned my grandparents against me and they kicked me out. She's a narcissist, I have posts about that also. Anyhow, she thinks she's somehow above the law and can assault me only b/c she's my mother. I don't know if that would help me at all.

I also have a picture of her splitting my lip which, my therapist has said would help.

Anyhow, I feel very unsafe now (she knows where I am staying) and, I want to prevent her from ever coming near me. I'll figure everything else out after but, I am a very scared for my safety.

How can I protect myself (and credit) from an ex-husband that has accumulated tickets, fines and late fees on a car he refuses to reregister to get out of my name.

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 12:57 PM PDT

Co-signed for car in 2014 before getting married where I am the primary because I had the better credit. Have been separated since September 2017. Officially divorced in Florida on December 2018. In the divorce agreement it's stated for him to have the car refinanced so that my name won't be on the registration and he can have full ownership. Since reminding him of this a month after our divorce he has not been paying the car loan, accumulated toll violations, and gotten it towed where it is being charged per day to sit. Since he has not renewed it I am still the primary on the loan so the DMV has been directing all his violations to me. I fear that it will get my license suspended and ruin my credit. Before he stopped communicating with me, he stated he has no intention of paying for any of it and has also gotten himself a new truck. I have already gone to legal services (where my case got denied) and notified the toll agency about the situation. Is there anything I can do legally to get my name off the violation to protect my license from getting suspended and ruining my credit?

Also would I still be held legally responsible for all the fees accumulated between the finalized divorce date and the "no later than date" for refinancing the car?

Baby left unattended in hotel room

    Posted: 06 Apr 2019 04:30 PM PDT

Hi fellow redditors, So this happened at the hotel I work at here in the UK, and the couple in question is still staying with us, therefore I would like to ask you what your reaction would be and how that situation can be handled.

Today a young couple checked in along with their 18 month year old daughter, and made a booking in our fine dining restaurant. We informed them that unfortunately they would not be able to bring their baby to the restaurant and offered instead to transfer their reservation to our brasserie style restaurant that is more family-friendly,; and that they will be able to dine from our prestigious menu in that area. They refused, telling us they would just leave their sleeping baby in their room. (The dining experience in our restaurant can take well over 2 hours, with drinks and pre-m3nu selection at the bar)

Shocked the receptionnist quickly evaluated her options and also offered them roomservice (declined) a cott in one of the rooms adjacent to the restaurant (declined) and to upgrade their hotel room to one closer to the restaurant, free of charge (also declined).

The couple said they were used to doing that and that there would be no problems, and that they would go back and check on their baby. They did not.

From 18:30 to 22:15 the baby was left unattended in a remote area of our hotel, actually even an adjacent building to our hotel that had no other guests.

The main issue now is: that same couple has made bookings in our restaurant for the upcoming days and generally do not seem to care about the safety and well-being of their infant (in conversation it was brought up as cumbersome and "the baby")

    What should I do?

TLDR: couple left their baby in hotel room unattended for the evening to go to the bar and restaurant. There coming back tomorrow. What can we do?

Edit. Time was wrong. UK times...

Edit 1: This morning: I went to talk to our Deputy General Manager. He told me that since we had offered all possible solutions to the guests the responsibility would lie in their hands and that the hotel would not be liable. I told him the hotel did not matter nearly as much as the safety of the infant and about my intent to call the authorities in case this happens again. He assured me this would not be necessary since the baby is not put at immediate harm. After all, it was placed dormant into a crib and "those are designed to prevent babies from escaping".

They don't prevent babies from choking, or even waking up and feeling upset or scared. I was still worried. -

Edit 2: This afternoon: After my shift, as soon as I got home, I called NSPCC to explain the situation. They told me the manager was in the wrong, the hotel would still be liable and that we can not allow the couple to do anything like this ever again. Also, I believe liable or not, wouldn't you at least try everything you can from this to ever happen again? As of right now, I am not at work anymore. I hope everything will be all right. My team and colleagues are still trying to have the couple enjoy their dinner tonight in the presence of their child, by all means necessary. I will see them again for breakfast tomorrow. I am considering at least telling the couple, in French as that's where they're from, and also where I grew up, That I am personally against their decision and that I have already contacted the NSPCC. Moreover, In case that happens again, I will not hesitate to call the police on them. Hopefully, that won't get me fired from my job.

    Citizenship and counselor confidentiality

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 07:16 AM PDT

A minor child who gained citizenship by being born to US citizen father is seeking counseling through school. Child has been in this country since infancy.

Child's mental health problem stems from discovering that child is not in fact, the biological child of the citizen. Mother was sent back to her home country a decade ago after a divorce. Father has full custody. Child has been told to say nothing to counselor or risk deportation to country of origin.

First question: How can citizenship be revoked by an outside party, or can it be?

Second question: if the counselor is told about parentage, can they share it with any authority?

Child is having nightmares about being locked up and taken away.

    This is in the USA.

Location bot edit: USA, isn't that enough for your curious circuits?

[VA] Selling a car without a VIN number

    Posted: 07 Apr 2019 06:34 AM PDT

A friend of mine is in an odd situation and looking online hasn't helped to dig up any answers. We're located in Virginia. On mobile, so apologies in advanced for formatting.

He was sold a car that didn't have a VIN number located anywhere on the vehicle. Let me reiterate that there's literally no form of identifier on the car itself, anywhere. The seller, who is a small local dealer, had the title which had a VIN number on it, but we have no way of proving that the car he was sold is indeed the car on the title. This has become a problem for a number of reasons, but that aside- he wants to get his money back but is looking for leverage to use against the dealer. Is it legal in the state of Virginia for a vehicle to be sold with no VIN number anywhere on the vehicle itself? Most of the answers I find online only refer to when the vehicle is gonna be scrapped or something like that, and that wasnt the case here.
