22 year old with no credit history buying car with credit and using a dashcam. Posted: 05 Apr 2019 07:31 PM PDT 22 y/o with a stable income. This car is a 2009 Lexus in good condition for $7500 and I put 5 grand in and paid the rest off on a 15 month no interest credit card and should be paid when my other car sells and I get my refund. My dealer is still working on the registration and title transfer and getting me plates. I already ordered a dashcam that I'll install on the dealership lot. My next step is to call my insurance company and get my policy adjusted to the appropriate coverage and dues for my payments. I do the 6 month policy plans paid entirely up front. Is it worth mentioning to the insurance agent that it has a working dashcam and get my dealer to sent documentation of its installment and photo proof? I've always heard that the insurance will always be thrilled to have a video of any reported claims. Will that actually lower my rates at all? Edit: I am insured with progressive and only have liability on my car. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Apr 2019 05:01 PM PDT I live in SW FL. I'm 21 years of age, 22 in December. 1 citation my record for going 54 in a 45. Lowest insurance I can find is $320 a month through geico. Any tips/suggestions? Edit; I've considered not getting a sports/muscle car, but insuring something like a Camry or a Subaru was $260 a month, and if I'm gonna pay that much. I'd rather pay the extra $60 for a car I'd rather drive. [link] [comments] |
My smart car went up in flames slightly and I don’t know what to do Posted: 06 Apr 2019 02:50 AM PDT I have a smart car and tonight as I drove home the battery light appeared on my dash in red and then when I pressed my gas pedal the car wouldn't gain speed so I pulled off the freeway and saw that the back of my car was on fire. The engine of my smart car is in my trunk area by the way. Anyways someone pulled over and put out my fire and I called fire department and now my car is in a auto shop parking lot. I called my insurance company- mercury, to have a claim be filed but I don't know what to do now. i don't know if my car is salvageable. The fire wasn't that bad - https://imgur.com/a/4XIIr6h I don't have a lot of money on me to pay for a massive car repair. I just don't know what to do right now and I'm honestly in shock from the whole deal. Some advice would greatly be appreciated right now. Btw car won't start at all and has no power to it. Batter is in front passages side of car so maybe there's some electrical wiring issues which caused the spark in the first place I'm mainly worried about the cost of repairing at this point and if if it's able to be saved. I hope I'm in the right sub reddit. Thank you for your time [link] [comments] |

Still on parents’ insurance; will they be able to see that I’ve used it? Posted: 05 Apr 2019 08:46 AM PDT Super long backstory but in short, I was diagnosed as ADHD by a licensed psychiatrist and really think medication could help in this case. My parents do not believe this diagnosis and so do not support me trying medication. As a legal adult, I can fill my own prescription without having to get parental consent. However, since I'm still on their insurance, would they be able to see that the insurance was being used? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Apr 2019 10:19 PM PDT For example, I am under TransAmerica Life Insurance and had taken the blood and urine test. A week ago, i had smoked a little marijuana. Will they request another re-test or just do one time testing? [link] [comments] |
auto insurance cancelled me for not submitting photos my agent was supposed to submit. Posted: 05 Apr 2019 05:45 PM PDT after purchasing my insurance, my agent told me i have 7 days to send her photos of my car so she can submit it for me. i guess she didn't considering i just got a notice of cancellation for not submitting any photos.. what are my options here? state: FL insurance company: Ocean Harbor/Equity Agent: 3rd party [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Apr 2019 08:34 PM PDT I own a town home in a HOA in Phoenix, AZ. There are 5 units in each building all privately owned. Tonight, the building directly behind me caught fire. I'm not sure the cause but I did see the smoke seemed to be coming out of the arcadia doors off the kitchen. Doesn't look like exterior damage and it appears only that one unit is effected. But it got me to thinking, if say (god forbid) something happened to one of my building neighbor's place and I had say smoke damage to my unit because of it - would my homeowner's cover that or the neighbor that had the fire? Or would the fire cause matter? (ie. electrical fire vs. leaving the stove on). Similarly, what would apply if they had water damage that damaged my unit? Edit found out cause of fire. Homeowner was cooking , decided to use the restroom for an extended period, when he returned it was a grease fire out of control. Mostly heavy smoke damage. His adjoining neighbor just told me they only have a strong odor , no noticeable damage. [link] [comments] |
Worries w/personal injury claim w/3rd party insurance claim administrator Posted: 05 Apr 2019 06:24 PM PDT Currently negotiating on a personal injury claim through a 3rd party insurance after a workout machine at the gym malfunctioned and smashed into my head, which required me to get staples in my head to close the wound. I started at 3.2k, he came back with $2k, then I made a post here and realized I underestimated my claim. Asked for $4k and he went to $2.5k. The thing is he continually pastes information about the claims process after every email, and it's beginning to worry me. I don't know if my health insurance knows that I have a potential settlement from the injury, and they haven't mailed me anything related to it. They only paid ~$300 out of their pocket though, but that doesn't include the discounts they have due to their relationship with the hospital, so the total amount it would have cost without adjustments is more around $1.5k. I don't know if I should just settle and wait and see if my insurance reaches out to me? How would I know if they have a lien on a settlement? Should I be concerned about any of the following language:

Not at fault, witness won't speak, have to pay for damage I didnt do. Posted: 05 Apr 2019 04:19 PM PDT I'm a part time uber driver, it's a side hustle. I need money. Wouldn't do it unless i got paid more at work. That aside, i was finishing up my night i had 2 passengers and I was about 7-10 minutes away from their dropoffs. Im driving east and on my side its a 3 lane situation. 2 in direction of travel and the 3rd is a parking lane. Im driving in the right 2nd lane because the drop off is on the right a couple streets down. Ive been in the lane for a while then suddenly im rear ended. The car spun i didnt hit anyone and the lady in my back seat is screaming. But not a "we've been hit" scream. A "Im in pain" scream. I pull the car over and call 9-1-1 ask for cops and an ambulance. After cops came, they questioned the one that wasn't hurt, and paramedics took the other passanger. The other driver was issued a ticket and every parties insurance and uber was notified. Month passes it sucks because their insurance said that during the time I should mitigate the damage and just go through my insurance. Great and all but I dont have $1000 to my name and my insurance doesn't offer a rental car. I work over 12miles from where im at, and public transportation isn't highly reliable over there. (Getting a loan wouldnt help either credit wise). In the end i know im in the right here because it wasnt my fault. But then a development, the driver of the other vehicle says i was driving in the parking lane. I want to scream at the claims guy saying "IN WHAT RIGHT MIND WOULD I ENDANGER MY PASSENEGERS" but that wouldn't solve anything. So they need the testimony of the woman hurt in my car. And theyve attempted to call her and she wont respond nor call back. "They would pay her bills why wont she call" i keep saying to myself. The insurance havent said anything about the other passenger (should ask next time because shes important too). Fact is during the time of not having a suitable car for uber ive been losing money and I even had to sell some possesions to make ends meet. Because in my mind "i know im good and hopefully they'll compensate for my wages lost". So here I am. Playing the waiting game and Im about to get my bonus. Dont want to pay to get my car fixed but i need it fixed so i can uber again. And my situation doesn't look like its playing in my favor though i was not at fault but their claims department obviously will listen to their customer than me. I know my insurance will try to go after them but I sincerely doubt im getting my money back or compensated. Should i lawyer up? Is it worth it? Just angry and frustrated because the system doesn't always work the way it should and good people get screwed over. Thanks for reading. [link] [comments] |
Car repair worth more than value of car Posted: 05 Apr 2019 11:54 AM PDT A couple weeks ago gfs 2002 miata got sideswiped by a guys truck. driver side door has a huge dent, as does the fender on the same side. At fault driver's insurance won't cover the repairs because the shop gf took the cart too estimated repairs at $23000. She just wants the car repaired with the at fault driver or his insurance paying for everything. What are some options? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Apr 2019 11:38 AM PDT Hi I noticed my HO-15 has this in the exclusions, can someone explains what this means. Water damage to property described in Cover- age C away from a premises or location owned, rented, occupied or controlled by an "insured" is covered. Water damage to property described in Cover- age C on a premises or location owned, rented, occupied or controlled by an "insured" is excluded even if weather conditions contrib- ute in any way to produce the loss. Thanks [link] [comments] |

Liberty Mutual offering 90% of repair - lucky or gypped off? Posted: 05 Apr 2019 06:39 AM PDT So I got into a pretty slow accident, like 30mph. I drive a 4 door sedan, this guy was driving a massive F150. He left a ~23" area of white-paint scuff and scrapped metal as well as some minor dents right where my rear passenger door meets the rear passenger fender area. I was without a doubt not at fault, but of course he told his insurance company I was. regardless, the insurance agent took my side in an indirect, subtle way. She's told me they're going to pay 90% of the cost of an estimate. The car is an 02, it's in great condition with low miles, but it's old so I'm grateful to get anything. Regardless, without the insurance company/police report being able to dictate who was at fault, despite it being obvious, did I get lucky to get 90% of the damage? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Apr 2019 05:39 AM PDT Is there is a Geico rep kicking around who can clarify the Geico policy for determining when an OEM windshield would be covered? I had a replacement on my 2018 Subaru Legacy and they refused to pay for OEM. They stated that they would only pay for the current year, plus one year. But stated that would mean 2019 and 2020. That seems wrong to me, but the rep and supervisor I spoke with just kept doubling down when I asked them to provide the policy on LKQ, without actual sending me the guidelines. I appreciate the feed back. Edit: PA personal auto policy. [link] [comments] |
