Trying to introduce Ipad kiosks into my business. What is the best POS system app available?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 12:15 PM PST

I currently run on windows desktops, and I use quickbooks. From my research it doesn't seem like Quickbooks is compatible with the IPAD and I'd hate to have to use windows tablets instead of IPADs. Is there anything else I should be on the lookout for ?

I prefer a one time payment POS system if possible and also one which I can use external printers.

    Am I a multi-member LLC if I have a member with 0%?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2019 12:54 AM PST

For banking purposes, we have a CFO that negotiated 3rd-party terms via a contract: They have 0% ownership, but are listed as a member.

So I'm 100% member, she's a 0% member for purpose of being CFO.

When I fill out tax forms, I should fill out the mult-member LLC, correct? Seems no-brainer to me, but then someone got me to doubt myself when it's mentioned they have 0%.

    Thanks!

For the ecommerce folks, has anyone here switched their company's/website's order fulfillment completely over to Amazon multi-channel service?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 12:18 PM PST

Now that the cheapest option for USPS over 1 lb (if it fits) is a $7.55 flat rate padded mailer, it's evident that Amazon multi-channel standard fulfillment is cheaper-- even accounting for inbound and storage fees if you have fast moving inventory. Does anyone here send all of their inventory to Amazon to fulfill your business' website orders? Do you have any problems?

How best to get team building and corporate outing bookings?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 04:55 PM PST

My lasertag business has grown quite a bit in the last 3 years, and we now have enough equipment for larger groups. We cater to adults, have alot of space and allow food and beverage while players experience team building and bonding without the pain of paintballs.

My question is specifically, who should I be asking for when I cold call or when I arrive at a physical office? I have no problem putting in the time and effort, but I want to try and maximize the effort I put in. I will be focusing on male dominated companies, ie, mechanics, investors, lawyers, construction, law enforcement and warehousing (there are more).

    Getting a business loan

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 08:29 PM PST

Question for you business experts my friend is trying to open an existing business. It is a restaurant that has been open for about 6 months ( basically is taking it over). They will need about $50k to pretty much get started. What are the options for loans? They both do not have jobs since they moved to the area.

I basically am just helping them research as much as I can. Thank you.

    Team task management software

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 11:33 PM PST

I'm looking for an app that will help manage team of 10 in multiple locations. We have about 150 clients and various recurring and adhoc tasks for each client. Would be great to have a dashboard to see what's on everybody's list so we know who is available to help with new tasks that come up.

I've been looking at the online app Asana, does anybody have any experience with this app, or can suggest something similar?

    Thanks so much!

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 10:25 PM PST

    Hello

I started a small business of organic beeswax crayons in mason these days, I received a good response from people on social media, which encouraged me.

I am making these crayons in my garage and fulfilling small orders. Being a small business it's quite tough for me to beat the competition. I will appreciate some good suggestions in regards.

    Thank you in advance

How to promote adult products online?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 07:08 AM PST

One of my partner wants to sell adult products online. This niche can be profitable but Google and Facebook do not allow ads of such products. The accounts can be easily banned. Do you have any suggestions for advertising? Thanks.

Small business looking for a Ford Transit

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 08:36 PM PST

Im a writer/director and have a small production company with about 200 million viral views online and done fairly big clients. After a couple setbacks I lost my partners and am in the red. My credit sucks now but I have a couple new people looking to get involved with very small, helper-loans that will get me back up and running. Their hope is that they will get shares or a payback with interest. I just need to get things running again and getting a Ford Transit would really help—even if it's just used. There a few reasons why the transit is right; so let's please give me the benefit of the doubt on that point. Now, given that I need to make their small contribution last, what are the best or even unorthodox options for me getting the vehicle I want? I don't care about cosmetic damage or mileage. I'm in California so rust is rarely an issue. Does anyone have any ideas? I'd like this vehicle to last at least 3 years.

    Thanks!

    Founder's Agreement?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 04:46 PM PST

    Hi guys,

I'm stuck in the situation described below, hopefully someone faced a similar issue before and can share some thoughts.

I have a LLC that I am currently using to provide engineering consulting services.

Under the same LLC , I am starting a new project, completely unrelated to my consulting business, different field, and I want to bring someone on board as the Chief Scientist Officer.

This person won't be taking a salary but equity instead.

So I am kind of confused on how to proceed here.

I don't want to register another LLC for this project because is in alpha stage, so it might not take off and die in two months (very likely). So I will be using "My Current LLC" dba "My Project".

On the other hand, I need to give the CSO some kind of written agreement, I guess it would be very similar to a Founder's Agreement, with all the language related to role and responsibility, equity and vesting ,etc on "My Project" only not on the LLC.

Later if the project turns into a business, I can do things right, register a new LLC/Corp and put together a Founder's or Employment Agreement with all the bells and whistles.

    Any ideas/suggestions?

    Thank you,

    Alex

Thoughts on sponsorships? I often get organizations asking for sponsorship donations, often quite large donations. Anyone have experience with sponsoring things and seen a return on their investment as far as brand awareness and new customers?

    Help me automate this business?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 05:58 PM PST

I have been asked to take over operations for a business that processes everything manually. I am trying to decide if this is a task I want to take on. The company's business is mostly fulfilling products for government contracts. So for example they get an order to supply furniture for a government office then fulfill the order from various different vendors. All the vendors ship their products to their warehouse then they group them together and fulfill the orders by reshipping etc. They do not have an electronic inventory system in place at this time. The receiving team receives the boxes, writes down the inventory and gives the list to someone who inputs into a spreadsheet.

Wanted to get peoples thoughts on companies/systems they could use to automate this and what kind of costs we are looking at so I can tell if it will be a possibility.

Did not win our local 'Best Of'

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 04:46 PM PST

Our local news paper runs the county wide Best Of contest. Where people nominate local businesses in various categories, then they vote and the most votes in each category grants the business the Best Of (category) of 2018 type of thing.

I was nominated, and 2 competitors were nominated. I have to say I was fully expecting to win. One of the competitors has terrible reviews. The other competitor won. They are fairly new, they have only recently began any advertising. Some of their social media posts are like and share this post for a chance to win some product. I'm suspicious they 'bought' votes, but i have no way to know that.

I posted on social media about the nomination, and again about asking for the vote once the votes were occurring. I bought an ad spot with the local paper to show my ad around the voting page. (which cost $300). I emailed all my customers, over 800 customers on the list, asking them to vote with a link to the contest.

We have virtually no negative feedback or reviews, we have been located in our downtown for over 9 years. We have a great reputation, I also volunteer in the community as well with non profits.

I am heartbroken. If they bought votes in some way I sort of would feel better. I'm tempted to buy votes next year, but I don't want to stoop to that level. But what if we really aren't 'the best'?

What’s the Square online store like?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 02:59 PM PST

I live in Australia and have been using Square POS for four years and it's faultless. I love it, and it's perfect for my business.

The square online store is currently available in America, but not here, surprise surprise. Just wondering if anyone has set one up? I'm looking forward to when they get released here, because right now I have issues with inventory between my big cartel online store and stock listed on my square POS app

Looking for a micro-task management system

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 02:57 PM PST

I've got an ecommerce business with a small warehouse full of goods, a few staff. I'm looking for a system to help manage all the little tiny tasks that are important but super simple, so that you can create a task in 5 seconds and everybody else can see it on their desktops and mobile phones. like post it notes but digital and shared among multiple people. if it's too sophisticated (like something for actual gantt charty projects) my guys won't use it.

for example in a given day there might be 10 to 25 little jobs like these:

    • check stock of item XYZ

    • call back customer john smith

    • receive goods from supplier Acme that just arrived

ideally the person who completes the task can take ownership of it and mark it as done, and the priority of the tasks can be arranged by priority.

    any ideas appreciated

Would like to start an upscale security and protection service company.

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 02:34 PM PST

Interested in starting a small (~40 employees) upscale protection service company. Planning to find clients in hostile regions of the world.

What's the most affordable way to get equipment used for this kind of work? It appears the recent technology used for communications alone is really expensive, let alone other things.

    Looking for a few suggestions.

Business is restructuring, looking to move away from using sage50 as an inventory management software.

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 01:55 PM PST

As the title states, we are an interior design showroom moving from a 100,000 sq. ft property to about a 7,000 sq. ft. office space. We are going from having a custom fabrics and furniture department and a 75,000 sq. ft. retail floor to just custom fabrics and furniture. Previously we've used Sage50 for all our accounting and inventory management needs. While a POS, its worked well enough.

However with us moving now, it would be a good time to try a better solution, which I know there has to be one out there.

Does anyone here have any recommendations for addons or software integrations for sage50 that lean more towards the inventory control and management side? Certainly leaning towards freemium but Ill gladly take recommendations that are not free.

    Thanks everyone!

Business/Service That Will Occasionally Accept Packages for Me and Hold Them?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 01:52 PM PST

I have a video production business and sometimes we need to buy props for a shoot. Sometimes these props are fairly large (not huge) like a mattress and bed frame. I live/work out of small spaces in the city. I cannot store these things in my place and it is annoying having to wait around for delivery and lug the thing into my place.

I'm wondering if there are local businesses/services that would accept the package delivery for me and hold it for like a week or so in storage, until I pick it up? Does this exist and what is it called? I don't need this super frequent, maybe like two times a month or so.
