Progressive Christian E-commerce store is failing miserably. NEED ADVICE/HELP PLEASE!

    Posted: 29 Mar 2019 06:03 PM PDT

I created a Progressive Christian E-commerce store that sells Christian gifts as well as merchandise with an overall message of being inclusive, compassionate and kind to all people of all races, religions and those in the LGBT community. My products include apparel, accessories, jewelry and home decor with over 80 different products in my collection, all reasonably priced (less than Amazon).

Yes, I am aware that this is quite a specific niche and most Christians do not share my views. Lol. But I feel very strongly about displaying Christianity through kindness and warmth towards all people versus lecturing/shaming others who don't believe in God. Personally, I think the latter is off putting. So, here I am.

Things started out great but I'm noticing a lot of backlash towards my store because of my beliefs from conservative Christians and it's effecting my business.. Which is effecting my family financially. (I'm the single mother of 2 young children, one of which has special needs)

As a last ditch effort, I tried using google and facebook ads which were costly and ineffective.

I also handed out thousands of "angel notes" with kind, inspiring, or encouraging statements on them and put them under car windshield wipers, in restaurants and coffee shops to no avail.

To be completely straightforward, I'm not someone with an entrepreneurial spirit or ability.

My intentions/goal is to generate enough income to cover my family's needs so I can ultimately volunteer full time with local oranizations such as the children's hospital, homeless shelter, humane society, domestic abuse shelters.. etc, as I feel my gift and purpose during this lifetime is to help as many different people as I can from all walks of life, going through difficult times. I'm only using this e commerce store to produce income in order to live out my passion and it's failing. Miserably.

However, I still need to pay my bills and I'm not sure what to do next. I quit my job when things were going well (I know, bad idea in hindsight) so this is my only source of income at the moment.

I've even submitted my story to the Ellen Show because I'm at my wits end. I know it's a long shot but figured it's worth a try. Lol

Can you please provide any advice on how to overcome this backlash to hopefully have my ecommerce store be profitable again?

Or do you have any other suggestions to create a stream of income so I can ultimately live out my goal to volunteer with multiple non profits full time?

Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

What does pursuing a business career actually entail?

    Posted: 29 Mar 2019 02:32 AM PDT

So I'm just a high school student that wants to do something business/corporate related. Right now I'm eyeing consulting as I think it would be cool to travel around to different places and to talk about a product or service that I believe in while getting paid doing so.

My parents say I don't really know what it means to get a business degree and enter the field, but I can't really see beyond my own perception right now.

How does going into business functionally affect someone on a day to day basis? What do they do? Is it menial just like the other jobs that I have heard about as well? Are there any other majors besides consulting where you can travel around and meet other people?
