    Electronic Arts (EA) stock...

    Posted: 07 Feb 2019 05:35 AM PST

Looks like it could be a great buy for the long term right now. It has taken hits from earnings and competition with Fortnite, among other games. Seems highly undervalued right now, and the RSI is oversold. Definitely think it is a bargain to buy at 80 a share, when it could certainly rebound back to the 90 mark by the next quarter. Not to mention, they just released Apex legends, which is a battle royals game set to compete with Fortnite.

    Better buy: Twitter or Snap?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2019 10:49 AM PST

Been closet observing snap since the beginning of Jan and wish I bought some. If you look at the number of twitter users by quarter, it has plateaued 17-18. I see Snapchat still having room to grow with users as it is fairly newer than Twitter. Really also depends on how profitable Snap will be this quarter, as they slightly beat expectations. The twitter user count scared some investors today, so it could be a good buy IF they find a way to turn around their app and attract more people... not much has changed the past two years as far as the app itself goes. Honestly I think Snap could be the better option here.

UK users of Degiro - did you have to declare taxes independently to HMRC?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2019 04:40 AM PST

Been buying/selling shares since the end of 2017, but haven't yet contacted HMRC regarding tax on shares. I had initially assumed this was done automatically since Degiro requested my National Insurance number etc when I signed up. What did you do regarding tax?

    Netflix valuation

    Posted: 06 Feb 2019 10:27 PM PST

I was talking with some guy in my investment club today and we talked about Netflix.

All 6 of us has the same opinion: Netflix is a movie studio (like paramount and Disney) that is categorized has a tech stock because they have a streaming infrastructure.

We all believe that in a not so far future, the market will realize that other movie studio/cable provider has streaming platform (Disney in 2019, HBO has one, viacom etc). If the market do, either all of the compagny that has a streaming platform will go trought the roof or netflix will crash (or netflix will stay up high?)

Is there anyone who think like us? If no, why? Any reason we are missing?

Worth Investing Now as a College Student?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2019 11:24 AM PST

I have about 2k in AAPL, C, BAC, BABA, CARA and will pick up some weed stocks on their next dip.

My question is, is it worth it holding companies like AAPL, C, or BABA now only for there to be a recession in the next few years?

I know no one can predict how large it will be or when it will be, but if I plan on holding these larger companies long term, is there any reason for me to hold them now rather that wait for the recession to buy?

At what point does a shareholder shed its ability to independently purchase shares due to their insider knowledge of the company?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2019 08:25 AM PST

For example, Buffett owns a decent amount of AAPL, I think it is close to 5%.

So, with that said, wouldn't Warren have a say in the strategy and direction of the company - thus having the ability to use insider knowledge to know when to buy more shares?

Disclaimer - I know Warren is a hands-off shareholder, but the concept still stands. Like, at what point does an equity holder change from an outside entity, to an inside influencer of the company?

A little background: I'm 24 years old so risk isn't that big of a concern for me right now, but this is my only retirement fund (I'm an independent contractor, so no 401K). Also if you can't tell all my stocks are Large-Cap and American based companies. Please let me know your honest opinion and thank you!

    My Roth-IRA Breakdown:

    25% Consumer Discretion (Fox, Disney)

    18% Energy (Valero)

    15% Technology (Apple, Google)

    11% Industrials (Union Pacific)

11% Consumer Staples (Phillip Morris, Hersheys)

    8% Materials (US Steel Co.)

    6% Financials (Berkshire Hathaway B)

    6% Healthcare (Johnson & Johnson)

    Carta spreadsheet link

    Posted: 07 Feb 2019 12:52 PM PST

I need the Carta download link for the list of employees that quit in january and have stock options. I lost the copy we bought from eshares. It's the spreadsheet that has name, email, company, phone, address, security number, and salary but I only need their email and company to make logos for a targeted instagram campaign tomorrow. Do you have the spreadsheet? You can send me emails and I can find the companies from LinkedIn and AngelList. I'm an intern so I'm asking on reddit first.

    Is ASC.L a good buy?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2019 09:31 AM PST

Seems to be close to a two year low even though everything I've read points to consistent growth. And it's pretty obvious how online retail is doing in general, especially over the long term. What are yals thoughts?

    Recession Stocks

    Posted: 07 Feb 2019 09:21 AM PST

With all the looming "recession" talk and a red day, I thought there would be no better time for this discussion. I'm curious about your opinions on stocks/ETF's that would fare well in a recession compared to the entire market.

I think $SAVE would be a good example, anyways post away!

    One simple question.

    Posted: 07 Feb 2019 09:21 AM PST

If stocks don't provide dividends how do you make money off the stock?

I get that you buy low sell high. But I think there is something more to it. Is there?

Opinions on two stocks? O and STM

    Posted: 07 Feb 2019 07:11 AM PST

I'm a very new investor. My wife and I have been working on our savings and I typically handle our investments with our retirement accounts and other mutual funds. I do like to buy individual stocks now and then and have held my Microsoft stock when I sold almost all my others (very small portfolio) when we bought a house.

I had considered buying AMD when they were around $10 and am kicking myself for not buying it back then and selling now.

I've been looking at O for quite some time and wanted to buy when it was around $50-55 or so several months back but didn't have the cash at the time (due to house buying). I'm curious if others think it's worth buying in now when it's at a high in the event it'll go up or should I wait and see if it'll drop? I read some other posts about it when I searched and it seemed like everyone felt it's a great stock to own. Just not sure if the price is the right price now.

Another stock I've been watching was STM as it's another semi conductor company that seems to have a good EPS and solid revenue projections. I feel that it might have good potential for upside in 1-3 years and it's a pretty cheap stock right now.

Curious what others are thinking about those two.

    Anyone winning on $NIO?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2019 06:07 PM PST

After IPO-ing in September 2018, the stock has seen some volatility, but the share prices have stabilized over the past few months and currently seems unstoppable.

From a technical analysis standpoint, $NIO is breaking out and testing new resistance levels with great volume -- the stock is up 32% in the past month!

What are your thoughts on China's $TSLA?
