r/Stocks Fundamentals Friday Feb 08, 2019 Posted: 08 Feb 2019 09:06 AM PST Feel free to talk about fundamentals such as tools, terms, and other important aspects of the investing world here; post your arguments against here and not in the current post. See the following word cloud and click through for the wiki: If you have a basic question, for example "what is EBITDA," then google "investopedia EBITDA" and click the Investopedia article on it; do this for everything until you have a more in depth question or just want to share what you learned. Posted: 08 Feb 2019 07:28 AM PST Lemme get this straight. EA fuggin tanks hard. Like 13% and drags down TTWO, ATVI, and NTDOY with it. All dropped like 5-13% and only EA and TTWO report. Tbh, TTWO wasn't even that bad. Great game sales, actually. So yeah. EA tanks... but now EA is up almost 10% and everyone is cool because muh APEX and ANTHEM which were already the case before earnings??? So EA gives shit results, obliterates the top names in the sector, and recovers on the exact same information while the other company's are stuck down? Tf? [link] [comments] |
Is there any way to stil get a share certificate of a publicly traded company? Posted: 08 Feb 2019 01:15 PM PST I thought it would be interesting to have an actual certificate of it. Is there any way to get one, or are they all pretty much out of use now? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Feb 2019 08:09 AM PST Softbank sold it's entire stake of Nvidia. They announced a huge share buy back program. SoftBank has stake many companies, including Alibaba, Sprint, WeWork. They own Boston Dynamics, ARM Holdings and the Vision Fund, the world's biggest technology fund. Check wikipedia for all their direct holdings https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SoftBank_Group What do you think about SoftBank? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 08 Feb 2019 11:20 AM PST Title basically says it all...Is Thinkorswim usable only as a brocker, or can I use it purely for its analytical purposes? If not, anyone got any good recommendations for a good technical analysis tool I can use to get my feet wet? [link] [comments] |
Looking for a legit online stock broker, any recommendations? Posted: 08 Feb 2019 02:51 AM PST Hi there, I am looking for an online broker to buy stocks. I am currently based in Spain but will be moving to Germany soon. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you for your help. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Feb 2019 10:41 AM PST Bought yesterday at 30.82 - dipped again today another 3% and I'm thinking of buying more before the market closes, I see a price target of 32-35 at the end of the quarter. It's not Facebook, but I think it is has more potential for this year [link] [comments] |
What is your favorite stock under $10?? Posted: 08 Feb 2019 09:42 AM PST I am trying to get my friend interested in the stock market. He said he would only invest $10 to try it out. I'm suggesting SNAP, GE, NIO, ACB to him, thinking that they might have the potential to double in 3-4 years. What is your favorite stock under $10? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Feb 2019 11:30 AM PST Up 13% today and I'm in at 93. Opinions if it'll stay rising through Monday? With gaining popularity of their new game I would think so. [link] [comments] |
Best trading platform for students? Posted: 08 Feb 2019 03:00 PM PST I'm a HS senior and currently using ETRADE. My portfolio is only 1250 right now, and I've been trading for a month. I like how ETRADE handles and has great research tools - I wish I could unlock ETRADE pro, and I most likely will at the end of this Q (30+ trades). However, the commission fees are a pain in the ass, but TD and others also charge them, but I know RH doesn't. Going into college in a few months, should I stay on ETRADE or look into other platforms? I'm not particularly looking to switch bc I'm pretty comfortable and used to E*TRADE, but I'd like to see my options, thanks [link] [comments] |

Posted: 07 Feb 2019 04:35 PM PST The game already has 10M downloaded and I expect 20M+ by this weekend. https://www.theverge.com/2019/2/7/18216061/apex-legends-10-million-players The game is beyond legit and I see EA outperforming TTWO and ATVI in 2019. [link] [comments] |
Best Bet for Tech Stocks in 2019? Secular IaaS. Posted: 08 Feb 2019 09:10 AM PST Excerpt: This past week, Amazon's IaaS offering, AWS, reported sales growth of 45% from $5.11 billion to $7.43 billion, with operating income increasing 61% to $2.18 billion up from $1.35 billion. Microsoft's IaaS offering, Azure, was up 76 percent (same as last quarter) reaching $4 billion in revenue. Microsoft's overall commercial cloud computing revenue which includes software grew 48 percent to $9 billion. If both companies continue on this trajectory in 2019, then Microsoft will narrow its gap from 3:1 to 2:1 with Amazon. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Feb 2019 08:34 AM PST This is going to be a very beginners' question. I understand that EPS is the NET income divided by the share price. What I don't understand is why that's really important. The only answer I received was that it'll give you an idea of the company's growth when the EPS goes up. Then again, the company can deceive us with their EPS, so how would we truly know if it's a lie or not? Plus, would it show the history of the company's EPS? I heard someone saying that "you have a claim to the EPS but that doesn't mean that you can withdraw your claim". So, if a company is 10 times worth its value, but you can't claim it, why does it matter to look at the EPS in the first place? I guess this is where the Ratio comes in. I understand that you get the underpriced, fairly priced, and overpriced shares. Does that mean you should: a) Buy some underpriced shares because you have confidence that the share price will grow? b) Have fairly priced shares in your portfolio because it's less risky? c) Ignore overpriced shares because the price could dropped and you'd lose money? Great EOLS Prediction On Wednesday. Posted: 08 Feb 2019 06:14 AM PST -Top executive for Allergen , the creator of Botox, left the company to become CEO in May 2018, days before the de facto FDA approval -More than 200 physician KOLs are invested in Evolus's parent company -First 900 kDa neurotoxin to be filed with the FDA since Botox -DPW-450 is projected to be 20-25% cheaper then Botox -Approved by the FDA recently -Massive volume spike -Directors bought shares in the mid 30's last year. One of the directors even reported for her son who bought 1000 shares. I feel tomorrow is the perfect entry. Yesterday was textbook profit taking. Buying the dip tomorrow (hopefully it dips further). This is a long term hold. No dilution is scheduled yet, and they have 100 million in cash as of September 30th. They also only spent 13 million in cash during the 9 months ended Sept.30th. No offering should be expected in the near future Will possibly sell after 20% gain depending on overall market condition and changes in future projections. Their biggest problem is commercialization. Looking for fast gains like what we saw during May of last year, but we shall see. I will conclude by referencing to an old video made a few years after the financial crisis. It is titled "buy the dip". [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Feb 2019 05:29 AM PST Hello again investors/traders. This is an update to my post from last month about the technical bounce coming in SP500. That thread can be found linked below
Why The Odds Of A Rebound In The SP500 Are Increasing
After the technical bounce, we have reached my projected target of the 50 week moving average much faster than I expected. I was thinking we wouldn't hit it until March or April but we reached it in early February.
A lot of people say you can't time the market but you can measure risk/reward and trend. And at these levels, the risk/reward is no longer in your favor to the upside for equities in the short term. If you have a lot of individual high beta stocks in your portfolio, time to start cutting your exposure to them.
In my opinion, best case scenario is that we trade sideways for the rest of the year. If the SPX does fall back below 2606, move more positions into cash.
Global growth is slowing and a China trade deal is not going to solve the problem. China's problem is their crackdown on shadow banking which is causing a liquidity crunch.
Best of luck to all and hopefully everyone makes money this year. [link] [comments] |
