Significant Insider Trading Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 25 Feb 2019 09:28 AM PST This is a list of the top 20 companies that experienced the largest change in insider shares in the last seven (7) days. The SEC defines an insider as any officer, director or 10% shareholder. It is not illegal for these people to buy or sell their own shares. In fact, since most of them get paid in stock options, it is expected. However, it is illegal for them to trade on inside information that has not been made public. So for example if there are drug trial results that are bad and not public, insiders cannot dump shares. That said, many people have observed that insiders - in general - seem to have a good track record at timing their purchases. All trades that are marked as part of a 10b5 plan are excluded from this report. Largest Insider Buying (Last 7 Days)Largest Insider Selling (Last 7 Days)

Anyone trading the Chinese Markets? As in the ones in China? Posted: 25 Feb 2019 04:19 AM PST Started trading Hong Kong listed stocks. Wondering if there are any other forums or discussions within this sub to discuss these stocks. I'm pretty good with reading Chinese and have been starting to keep up on Eastern blogs & financial sites as well. Posted: 25 Feb 2019 02:23 PM PST Hey there, Bit of a newbie on IB; I get quite a bit of delayed data. I am a European based trading mostly London and Amsterdam stocks and ETF. What do people typically do to get live data? Seems I'd need to pay around 73 euros per month to get it live through the IB interface. Or do you guys just get data from somewhere else? Thanks, Bb [link] [comments]
Significant Activist Hedge Fund Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 25 Feb 2019 09:29 AM PST These are the latest Schedule 13D forms filed by activist investors in the last 7 days. Activist investors are investors that make an investment with the intention of influencing management in some way. There is evidence that following activist investors into investments can generate excess returns. Schedule 13G forms, in contrast, are filed by significant investors with no intention of influencing management (such as Index funds). There is always a lot of interest in insider trades, but what a lot of people probably don't realize is that hedge fund activity is probably more predictive of future returns than insider activity. The reason is that hedge funds (a) have large research budgets, and (b) have a choice where to put their money. In contract, insiders have no choice where to put their money, but only when to time their transactions. New FilingsThis table lists new 13D filings in the last week. A new filing does not necessarily indicate a new position, as investors frequently accumulate in advance before reaching the filing threshold. Amended FilingsThis table lists amended filings in the last week, and is useful for monitoring changes in existing investments or when a fund closes a position. I have eliminated all filings with less than a 5% change in ownership. Posted: 25 Feb 2019 09:48 AM PST I know about the account must be over $25,000 rule to day trade without penalty but my question is are there any subsequent less talked about stipulations? Once you pass $25K can you day trade 50 penny stocks at $500 at trade or does each day traded transaction have to be $25K? Does anyone have experience with Margin Accounts Posted: 25 Feb 2019 11:17 AM PST I've been trading the past two years to sort of get the hang of things with etrade. I think I want to open up a Margin account to play around with as well. Has anybody opened one up before? This is my resource: https://us.etrade.com/trade/margin-trading I just don't understand all the fees associated with the account. If I open one up is there like a yearly or monthly fee? Do I need to make a certain amount of trades for it? What accounts people use? Posted: 25 Feb 2019 06:37 PM PST Any relation with the performance of stocks after the Oscars? Sony is up today and Disney down. Not sure about the rest. A co worker was talking to me about stocks today. She mentioned the stock was down. I replied with probably cause they did not win for Black Panther and lost to Spider-Man. Sony stock is up. Ladybaybee's recommended picks for 2019-02-25 Posted: 25 Feb 2019 09:40 AM PST I am not a financier or economist. I am electrical engineer with equal passion in artificial intelligence and financial markets. For the past 2 years I have been working on a system that would make short term predictions of stocks. The system is rather complex, I use multiple layers which include: Convolutional Neural Networks, LSTMs and Genetic Algorithms. All bulked together produce an output like in this image. The way to interpret the image is a follows: Symbol and Date columns are self explanatory, Quorum refers to autonomous agents that decide whether to BUY/NOT BUY or SELL/HOLD a stock. Each symbol has 9 agents, and the Quorum column, counts the number of agents that recommend Buy, Selling or Holding the stock. The "Not Owned" column means: if you don't own this stock then you should … The "Owned" column means: if you own this stock you should HOLD or SELL. The column "Growth(1 Year)" refers to what what has been the growth of this system of Agents in the past calendar year. The column "Tx(1Yr)" shows the number of full transactions that these agents recommended in the last calendar year. "Factor" is just the division of Growth divided by Transactions to get the average growth per transaction. Finally "Success Rate" shows how successful these agents have been in their recommendations in the past calendar year, success 1 means 100% successful, 0.5 means 50% successful, and so on. Many people have been curious about the actual process that the system follows, so here it is: for every symbol (600 stocks are analyzed daily), we get the full stock data (open, close, high, low, volume) for the past 4 months. Each stock is associated with another set of "lookalike" stocks as well as major ETF's. This initial dataset is run through a convolutional layer that extracts an undisclosed number of features. These features are then passed onto a recurrent neural network (LSTM) where sequences and patterns are extracted. The LSTM then spits out probabilities for the likelihood that this stock will have a positive, negative and neutral tendency in the next N days. These probabilities are then fed to a genetic evolution system (GES). This system essentially checks the predictions for the past N days and compares them with reality, following that the systems knows which predictions are performing the best. Once the system knows which stocks are being simulated the best, then the system automatically finds which of these best performing stocks have the biggest potential for the next few days. The system does not output explanations, unfortunately us humans are not capable of understanding (or visualizing) a problem of this dimensionality, for example the LSTM part alone works with over 10 million dimensions, not features but dimensions. HOW I USE THIS: I go for stocks with State equal to ready_to_buy because I make this to mean that the upwards tendency is just about to start so it has more potential to grow. State ready_to_sell isn't bad either, it just means that the system had detected the upward trend in previous days and it still thinks that the trend will continue this way. The system doesn't actually tell me how long the upwards tendency will be. I run the models everyday at noon NY time, so the programs just tells me: "I think you should buy this TODAY" or "I think you should sell it TODAY" Just as an added heuristic, I tend to sell all my stocks on Fridays because I don't like the uncertainty that weekends and long weekends bring, but that is just a personal opinion. Alternatives to form 13F to find out where institutions are investing Posted: 25 Feb 2019 05:41 PM PST I'm reading (link down below) that SEC Form 13F filings show institutional investments in US equity and are made public, but often 45 days after the end of the relevant quarter, and of course may show investments made at the beginning of said quarter (over 4 months earlier). Is there another way to know what institutions are investing in, with a smaller delay? E.g. can we find out major moves made by Bridgewater in the last month? (I realize the risks associated with trying to mimic these investments as also pointed out in the link below.) https://www.investopedia.com/terms/f/form-13f.asp [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Feb 2019 12:46 PM PST If you invested $10,000 in a pizza shop (you being a silent partner and have no activity in the business). The pizza shop also has 99 other investors which all put in a total of $1 Million. The pizza shop recognizes you as a shareholder, but they never paid you any money why would someone want to pay more for the opportunity to hold stock in that pizza shop? Even if it was the most successful pizza place ever, but the pizza place never paid out any earnings? Posted: 25 Feb 2019 01:17 AM PST I'm curious on where you think it'll peak at or the future forecast of this stock It's rather relatively new I'm concerned about investing too much. I have 56 shares and I'm thinking of adding another 30+ but I thought I'd see of anyone else thoughts on them [link] [comments] |
