Get FUCKED NASBA I passed FAR today Posted: 26 Feb 2019 07:34 AM PST FIRST TIME BITCHES. I don't need the NASBA to tell me I know accounting. I may have studied too hard admittedly with an 89 but I have to say I feels nice to pass my first CPA exam I ever took. [link] [comments]

Is Cost Accountant to Controller doable? Posted: 26 Feb 2019 06:39 PM PST Been in a "Cost Accountant" job for the past 6 months in the mining industry. I put the position in quotes because it isn't really a Cost Accountant position other than I prepare the cost and capital reports...it's more like a Senior Accountant position as I approve JE's, coach employees on coding/excel issues, and involved in the P2P process by approving/rejecting requisitions and POs. Now that I am settled in, I want to plot a path. I have over 5 years experience all in industry and this is my first Senior Accountant type position. I do have some pretty good skills I think in analysis, and excel. I know I need to be a part of a budgeting process or two. What other hard skills should I be learning? I know soft skills are big too, like attention to detail, and communication, anything else I should be developing? I think I got a great mentor at the company and I hope to lean on him a bit to get me there, hopefully internally.. [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Feb 2019 11:20 AM PST Does anyone else have clients with bookkeepers named Elena? This is so weird. My firm has many clients that have their own bookkeepers, and about half of them are named Elena (sometimes Elana, Elaine, or other variants), all different individuals living in different cities. Am I losing my mind? Did I just enter the tax season void? I'm thinking that if I have a daughter and name her Elena, she's automatically growing up to become a bookkeeper. [link] [comments]
What was your pay as an intern? Posted: 26 Feb 2019 10:31 PM PST Hey y'all, I haven't seen a thread like this so here goes it. Formatting something similar to below Year in school: Pay (hourly/salary): Overtime or not: Any other type of pay: Type of job: Public/Industry: [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Feb 2019 01:22 PM PST What's your current office debacle? In my office someone decided to come in sick and now everyone (including myself) are feeling the same effects. And oh yeah, our keurig just crapped out in the heart of busy season [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 Feb 2019 08:04 PM PST Hi Guys, I'm 25 and fairly new to accounting world. After graduation I was an associate for a private equity consulting firm for about a year and a half. I got into grad school to sit for the CPA and relocated to a new industry job in healthcare. I am surprised at how much I hate this job. I can't stand my manager, the hours are long, and the accountant before me was a lazy mf that resulted in various accounts being ridiculously out of balance. My plan was to stay at this job until I fulfill the 150 to sit for the cpa and then start in public to do 2-3 yrs. I've been at my industry job for 6 months but I can't see myself lasting the year. My question is, would I sabotage my career path by quitting my industry job now and starting somewhere else? I dont want to come off as a job hopping type. Is there much difference to my next employer if I quit now with 6 months instead of quitting after a year? What would you guys do? [link] [comments]
Big 4 culture sucks - planning to leave Posted: 26 Feb 2019 05:55 AM PST I will be getting manager promotion this year in Big 4 located in Nyc. I'm in the individual tax group for high net worth (individual returns, trust, private foundations, small partnerships, etc.) for clients in financial services and I've realized ... I hate this culture. Don't get me wrong, I've done my fair share of 80-90 hour work weeks (and we get hit with two brutal busy seasons) but that isn't my biggest issue. I'm consistently top rated, every year since I've begun (5 years ago). My biggest issue is how the top performers get burried with work and everyone else just skates on by... and management thinks this is acceptable? I get it - stop overachieving and this wont be an issue. But, this is why I realize the Big4 culture (and maybe corporate america) just isn't for me. I want to come into work and work my fucking ass off, get ahead, contribute, and actually get shit done - not just skate by pushing bullshit. Perhaps it's time to open shop or make the jump to a wealth management firm. I'm done with this sheep mentality. [link] [comments]
