Posted: 02 Jan 2019 04:52 PM PST I've seen it mentioned in this sub a dozen times that share buybacks are always a good way to gauge an investment in a company. Although this is true it should be noted that other metrics need to be viewed as well. A good example is Apple. In Q3 they purchased 20Billion worth of stock at 210ish a share. But in Q4 they have basically purchased nothing when the stick is at all time lows. Apple failed to see the decline in China sales as well as US. I just find it pretty notable that a big "untouchable" company like Apple would miss something like that. And I'm sure there are other factors. It's just a general observation. Long story short, buybacks aren't always accurate with "company x feels their stock is the best investment." This shows how insider bias can have big negative impacts for outsiders looking in if they choose to follow blindly. Always do your own DD! [link] [comments] | ||||||||||||||||||||

Trouble Understanding Revlon Bull Thesis Posted: 01 Jan 2019 05:18 PM PST Both Mittleman Brothers and Laughing Water Capital are strong bulls on Revlon. I'm struggling to see the logic behind projections for the investment thesis(other than insider buying/ownership) and was wondering if anyone could give me more insight.
