Is purchasing option s contracts on Friday stupid because of Theta? Posted: 04 Jan 2019 10:09 AM PST Hey guys, I've been playing with options on RobinHood the past 4 months or so. Just throwing $100 in here and there. I've done okay, currently up $445 and some change. I'm wondering though, is it stupid to buy 2-4 week expiration options contracts on a Friday due to Theta and time decay and the weekend? Or does Theta only count on market days? I'm a little confused here, I see some options I think are promising and want to pounce, however I feel like i should just wait until Monday because of the theta. I don't want to lose money 2 days when it's not even possible to make money. [link] [comments]
China Social credit score lowering iPhone sales? Posted: 04 Jan 2019 06:22 AM PST The Social credit score is a powerful new incentive to do or not to do something for Chinese citizens...Could the Chinese citizens be avoiding iPhone purchases out of fears that the purchase history will be frowned upon by the communist government, and possibly lower their Social score because of the trade war??? [link] [comments]
What are you guys thoughts on MSFT? Posted: 04 Jan 2019 05:37 AM PST I am holding a few thousand in shares of MSFT and I am unsure if I should buy the dip or try to get out while I can still break even. [link] [comments]
Anyone knows what happend with the IPO of Beyond meat (BYND) Posted: 04 Jan 2019 06:44 AM PST Was quiet excited for this opportunity even I heard they will go public. Anyone knows what happend since the announcement in november? [link] [comments]
Selling stocks that gained for stocks that are currently losing Posted: 04 Jan 2019 11:21 AM PST Hello, fellow investors! In my portfolio I have a whole bunch of stocks that are in the red, and a few that are in the green, and I imagine that most of us are in that boat. Could it be a smart move to sell some of the 'winners' and invest the profit in the 'losers'? Especially now when the market seems to be in a down-trend? Realize some profit and get others at a discount? Spontainiously it seens to add up, so I would like some feedback on the idea. Thanks Best regards The-peppmeister Ps. I know that this way of signing off isn't the standard of reddit, but, I walk my own path. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Jan 2019 12:10 PM PST I made a post earlier (now deleted, as it is obvious that I need to learn a lot before throwing money into the stock market) regarding periodically purchasing shares in one company. While doing more research, the thought occurred to me that I don't know how these things are tracked, and furthermore how proof of ownership of shares is handles. Lets say I purchase shares of GOOGL via Robinhood over the course of a few years, and then Robinhood for whatever reason ceases to exist (bankruptcy or something) how do I prove that I still own all of those shares I had purchased? Also, what sort of tracking software is used to monitor one's portfolio? Also, off topic slightly: What is the best way to get up to speed on all of this? A class at a local university/college? Online webinar? Something else? I have seen book recommendations, but they seem geared toward strategy and less about the technical aspects of the overall process. Thanks! [link] [comments]

Would an early Short Term Capital Gain in 2019 affect your investment strategy? Posted: 04 Jan 2019 06:57 PM PST If you had a $100,000 short term capital gain in 2019 already, how would it affect your investment strategy? You have just the $100,000 gain to invest. Would you take on additional risk or do certain trades that leave you with: Short Term Capital Losses that could be taken in 2018 and Long Term Capital Gains that could be held or closed out in 2019 [link] [comments]
Fed Chairman Powell Comments and Market Performance (HINDSIGHT 20/20) Posted: 04 Jan 2019 06:31 PM PST Just thought how the market reacted post-Powell commentary. I just selected what I thought would be strategic keywords placed during a speech or for what media usually highlights post-speech. Here you go: 10/3/2018: Keywords A LONG WAY "Interest rates are still accommodative, but we're gradually moving to a place where they will be neutral," he added. "We may go past neutral, but we're a long way from neutral at this point, probably." Markets: S&P500 +2.08, DJIA +54.45, NASDAQ +25.54 11/28/2018: Keywords JUST BELOW "Interest rates are still low by historical standards, and they remain just below the broad range of estimates of the level that would be neutral for the economy — that is, neither speeding up nor slowing down growth." Markets: S&P500 +61.62, DJIA +617.7, NASDAQ +208.89 1/4/2019: Keyword PATIENT "As always, there is no preset path for policy," Powell said. "And particularly with muted inflation readings that we've seen coming in, we will be patient as we watch to see how the economy evolves." Markets: S&P500 +84.05, DJIA +746.94, NASDAQ +275.35 Source: CNBC [link] [comments]

Website to check up on stocks? Posted: 04 Jan 2019 09:23 AM PST Hello, fellow investors! I'm writing this becuase I'm curious as to where most of you check up on stocks? The site I use for my investments is Avanza.se (swedish bank) since I'm in sweden and often when I look for deeper info (mostly on international stocks) I use Morningstar. Any sites you guys would recommend? Preferably an international site with charts available up to 10years. Cheers, The-Peppmeister [link] [comments]

Rumors of PCG selling gas division Posted: 04 Jan 2019 02:33 PM PST Any idea who the potential buyers might be? If this happens I believe that the new gas supplier is set to become a powerhouse but I can't find any information on who the potential buyers might be. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Jan 2019 10:42 AM PST With how bi-polar this stock market is, convince me not to buy $SQQQ today while it's down ~15% and put about $2k in to shares and sell the next day the market goes full retard. [link] [comments]

Wtf is going on in the OTC trading Posted: 04 Jan 2019 02:19 PM PST I recently started really paying attention to level 1 quotes, and I've noticed many different times that a trade on the OTC market (for stocks on the nasdaq) is many times FAR away from the bids and asks at that particular time. The only thing I can think of is something unsavory is going on, any ideas or stories from anyone?? [link] [comments]

Do you think that Facebook and Google are going to pay a dividend anytime soon? Posted: 04 Jan 2019 01:35 PM PST Guys I have been wonderind if Facebook and Google are not going to start paying a dividend soon. Both of them have tons of cash , no debt and plenty of free cash flow with strong bussines models to support a dividend. Interested to hear your thoughts about that. [link] [comments]
The Stock Market Today: What To Know For Friday January 4, 2019 Posted: 04 Jan 2019 05:09 AM PST Some good points in this one. I agree with the fact that this whole China trade talk is like a part of the script from Groundhog Day lol. How soon the markets forget what we already know, right? Hoping for strong jobs numbers and maybe a little dovishness from the Fed Chair today. We'll see. Green open nonetheless (as it looks for now) Source: Stock Market Today [link] [comments]
what do after a fibonacci retracement Posted: 04 Jan 2019 06:28 AM PST Hey folks, just trying to figure out what the plan of attack is after you notice a stock which has run up has now retraced by 50%. do you just kind of look away from that stock, move on to another one or is there any reversion afterwards to travel back towards that end point (eventually)? granted a lot of stocks have retraced as of late, but wondering if or what you do after the retracement has taken effect? (i understand its more of a prediction tool looking forward, but can't seem to find the post retracement process) thanks! [link] [comments] |
