Stocks that are Rising/Falling And Why (3 December 2018) Posted: 03 Dec 2018 09:28 AM PST Each day I go through the top rising and falling stocks today, and look for (a) what the company actually does, and (b) why the stock is moving so much. Hopefully this saves you some digging! Below are my notes from 3 December 2018 as of mid-morning. (This list is limited to companies with market cap >$500 million, and also excludes VIX, short ETFs, etc, as these just reflect the market, rather than individual companies.) submitted by /u/NaturalHedgehog [link] [comments] |
Significant Insider Trading Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 03 Dec 2018 09:05 AM PST This is a list of the top 40 companies that experienced the largest change in insider shares in the last seven (7) days. The SEC defines an insider as any officer, director or 10% shareholder. It is not illegal for these people to buy or sell their own shares. In fact, since most of them get paid in stock options, it is expected. However, it is illegal for them to trade on inside information that has not been made public. So for example if there are drug trial results that are bad and not public, insiders cannot dump shares. That said, many people have observed that insiders - in general - seem to have a good track record at timing their purchases. All trades that are marked as part of a 10b5 plan are NOT excluded from this report. Largest Insider Buying (Last 7 Days) Company | Count | Shares Changed | Avg. Study: earnings growth is falling, what this means for stocks Posted: 03 Dec 2018 04:47 PM PST |
What stocks are buying (or wanting to buy) this month? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 05:32 PM PST |
RVRS Posted: 03 Dec 2018 05:03 PM PST RVRS follows my investment plan, however, it has not been meeting its index return despite what is a lowish tracking error (.37). Can someone explain? I have been researching it all day but cannot fogure out why. I guess maybe low AUM means its hard to rebalance properly so I hoping it will start performing close to its index soon. submitted by /u/MagFraggins [link] [comments] |
Significant Activist Hedge Fund Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 03 Dec 2018 09:05 AM PST These are the latest Schedule 13D forms filed by activist investors in the last 7 days. Activist investors are investors that make an investment with the intention of influencing management in some way. There is evidence that following activist investors into investments can generate excess returns. Schedule 13G forms, in contrast, are filed by significant investors with no intention of influencing management (such as Index funds). There is always a lot of interest in insider trades, but what a lot of people probably don't realize is that hedge fund activity is probably more predictive of future returns than insider activity. The reason is that hedge funds (a) have large research budgets, and (b) have a choice where to put their money. In contract, insiders have no choice where to put their money, but only when to time their transactions. New Filings This table lists new 13D filings in the last week. A new filing does not necessarily indicate a new position, as investors frequently accumulate in advance before reaching the filing threshold. Does buy-timing matter on weekends? Posted: 02 Dec 2018 09:59 PM PST Let's say some amazing news about Tesla comes out Saturday morning. Person A: Puts in a buy order immediately on Saturday morning Person B: Gets the news late, and puts in a buy order on Sunday night Will person A's purchase buy at a lower price because he was "first in line" in some sort of queue, or is every order somehow simultaneously initiated when the market opens on Monday? Thanks! submitted by /u/BENshakalaka [link] [comments] |
Sell the Monday pop Posted: 02 Dec 2018 09:14 PM PST Last chance. Market downturns in an overvalued asset don't usually turn around. If might be a fundamental news that triggered such downturn, but the change of the fundamental isn't going to mean change of the direction of the asset. Check crypto, it might be Mt Gox's dumpings that killed the momentum in late 2017, but crypto never regained the rally, because it was very overvalued in the first place. I think the same with this stock market. Powell and Trump are two motherfuckers who destroyed the market on Oct and Nov, but we are NOT coming back to ATH, trust me. Monday will be a pop and this whole week MIGHT be a good way barring any major news, but coming 2019 the market will be flat and very likely go down. There simply isn't any upside any more. The money are being sucked out of the stock market with the rate hikes and QT. This earnings season is shit too, with major companies posting revenue miss and guidance miss. The peak earnings has already occurred. Can go nowhere but down at this point. I predict we will be in a bear market until a business-friendly president in the next election such as Hillary. If it's still Trump, or even worse, Warren or Sanders, GG market. submitted by /u/nocehr [link] [comments] |
