Book recommendations on starting a business

    Posted: 03 Dec 2018 12:13 AM PST

I don't want the kind of yellow books that tell you how to make money fast or how to get successful by these x amount of dumb steps. Also, not looking for how to attract investments and stuff like that.

I'm looking for informational books that teaches me the ups and downs of starting and developing a business and doesn't neglect social sciences.

    Any suggestions?

Who do we hire to help evaluate our Not for Profit?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2018 07:58 PM PST

    Gday all,

Im in Australia. I've been put on the Audit and finance committee of a quite large not for profit members based community group.

None of us are trained in business or finance and historically the business/finance side of it has been pretty average.

Have talked them into hiring an independent financial advisor and the money is now being invested more effectively.

We also have had a comms audit and are looking into implementing the recomendations from that.

Now looking to improve how we run in general. We would be looking for someone to come in and evaluate everything roles, responsibilities, remuneration, processes, rules and regulations. Im not sure what we really want to be looking for though?

Would this be the role of a HR Consultant? Business Analyst? Management Consultant?

There are a million different types of business consultant and its hard to work out what we would need.

So a little bit of guidance would be greatly appreciated.

From Pre-Seed to Series C: Startup Funding Rounds Explained

    Posted: 02 Dec 2018 11:00 PM PST

I have written an article on Startup Funding Rounds. Need your opinion to improve my writing. Also, Please suggest me topics that you guys will love to read. In this post, I have explained only up to Series C Funding. Most commonly, a company will end its external equity funding with Series C. However, some companies can go on to Series D and even Series E rounds of funding as well.

Companies that do continue with Series D funding tend to either do so because they are in search of a final push before an IPO, or, alternatively, because they have not yet been able to achieve the goals they set out to accomplish during Series C funding.

Understanding the distinction between these rounds of raising capital will help you decipher startup news and evaluate entrepreneurial prospects. The rounds of funding work in essentially the same basic manner; investors offer cash in return for an equity stake in the business. Between the rounds, investors make slightly different demands on the startup.

I can make YouTube videos for my videos that have to do with instruction and teaching ideas, or I can put them on pattern. People don't use dvds any more so what should I do with the videos I have to sell for maximum profit?
