Basket of 11 Dividend Stocks - Combined Yield 5.3% Posted: 28 Nov 2018 07:20 PM PST Any thoughts on this mix/allocation of 11 dividend stocks that I created within my 401K. Most allocation towards MO (in at avg price in $54) and T. Thank you for your feedback. [link] [comments] |
Will $PM or $MO enter the cannabis industry? Posted: 29 Nov 2018 07:31 AM PST I've seen reports that PM will not but I'm unsure of the validity of the report. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Nov 2018 12:57 PM PST BA was down approx. 13% after news of their plane crashing came out. Report yesterday essentially placed blame on airline for failing to properly maintain the aircraft and ground it. Stock is up 7ish % in the past two days after this. In addition, Trump appears to be making steps towards a resolution in the China situation. Leads me to think Boeing might shoot back after taking a beating the past month. Their orders have also shown strong growth and there are huge barriers to entry in their market. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Nov 2018 09:46 AM PST Is anyone else buying PG&E right now? Even though they are being blamed at the moment, probably rightly so, for starting the CA "Campfire" it seems way oversold sitting at $27 when it was at almost $50 this year and $70 in the past two years. I figure since they have a near monopoly on CA utilities, it is unlikely they will go bankrupt like some people are saying, the state gov just wouldn't allow it. Any thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Thoughts on Pandora and Starbucks? Posted: 29 Nov 2018 10:26 AM PST Thinking about investing in the two. Im a beginner and only have about $200 to invest with. What are your guys thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Nov 2018 01:23 PM PST I got suckered into a 15 minute presentation promising a revolutionary stock from a small Canadian company that will turn everyone into millionaires blah blah blah. All they talked about was their newsletter and I must have missed the name of the stock. Anyone know what it is? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Nov 2018 01:00 PM PST With the expected OPEC production cut, what are your thoughts on $USO being a good long position? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Nov 2018 11:50 AM PST What are your thoughts on $BILI. Spiked up yesterday and down 9% so far today. Had it on the watchlist for a while just curious what you guys think will happen in the near future [link] [comments] |
The New York Central Railroad Company (paper stock) Posted: 29 Nov 2018 07:44 AM PST How would I find out how much these are worth and if they are real? [link] [comments] |
Fundamental problem with investing in Chinese stocks Posted: 29 Nov 2018 10:49 AM PST I have held two attractive Chinese stocks for a while now (SECO & YY) and have been perplexed by how their stocks have been valued relative to fundamentals. After some thought, I think I have the answer to why they are not priced well, a conclusion which would have horrible implications for Chinese stock holders. Please let me know if I'm on the right track Chinese stocks earn income in rmb but USA holders want dividends to be in USD. Since China has heavy currency controls including making it nearly impossible for anyone or anything within China to convert from rmb to any other currency, Chinese companies listed in USA cannot return profits to shareholders. If this logic is correct, then unless the company is acquired, returns on Chinese stocks listed in USD are theoretically 0 due to their inability to actually give wealth to shareholders. I desperately hope I'm wrong. Looking forward to comments. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Nov 2018 10:44 AM PST Hey Guys, I've been trying to learn about stocks for about a year now, and I just had a quick question for those of you who are a little more tenured than I am. A family friend of mine told me that he owned roughly 5000 shares of FISV in 1990. At first, I figured he made a good amount of money because it was trading at .40 cents a share in 1990. But then I realized that FISV has forward split 8 times since then.(some we're 2 to 1 and some were 3/2) So my ballpark estimate for how much those stocks must be worth is in the ballpark of $17 million! Can someone explain to me if I'm calculating this correctly? I'm not trying to get into his business or anything, I just feel like im missing something. [link] [comments] |
Received a portfolio from inheritance Posted: 29 Nov 2018 10:35 AM PST I received a number of stocks and I was hoping for advice on what to do with all of it. I've always put my own money into index funds/stocks and don't have a strong knowledge base about these companies. Any advice is appreciated. CAJ DF (has a call on it till Dec 21) HNP KMI (has a call on it till Jan 18) NDGPF SKX (has a call on it till Jan 18) SO T (has a call on it till June 21) WDC XOM [link] [comments] |

FDA Has Approved Firdapse ($CPRX) Posted: 28 Nov 2018 03:18 PM PST https://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm627093.htm Plain Text: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved Firdapse (amifampridine) tablets for the treatment of Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS) in adults. LEMS is a rare autoimmune disorder that affects the connection between nerves and muscles and causes weakness and other symptoms in affected patients. This is the first FDA approval of a treatment for LEMS. "There has been a long-standing need for a treatment for this rare disorder," said Billy Dunn, M.D., director of the Division of Neurology Products in the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. "Patients with LEMS have significant weakness and fatigue that can often cause great difficulties with daily activites." In people with LEMS, the body's own immune system attacks the neuromuscular junction (the connection between nerves and muscles) and disrupts the ability of nerve cells to send signals to muscle cells. LEMS may be associated with other autoimmune diseases, but more commonly occurs in patients with cancer such as small cell lung cancer, where its onset precedes or coincides with the diagnosis of cancer. The prevalence of LEMS is estimated to be three per million individuals worldwide. The efficacy of Firdapse was studied in two clinical trials that together included 64 adult patients who received Firdapse or placebo. The studies measured the Quantitative Myasthenia Gravis score (a 13-item physician-rated categorical scale assessing muscle weakness) and the Subject Global Impression (a seven-point scale on which patients rated their overall impression of the effects of the study treatment on their physical well-being). For both measures, the patients receiving Firdapse experienced a greater benefit than those on placebo. The most common side effects experienced by patients in the clinical trials were burning or prickling sensation (paresthesia), upper respiratory tract infection, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, headache, elevated liver enzymes, back pain, hypertension and muscle spasms. Seizures have been observed in patients without a history of seizures. Patients should inform their health care provider immediately if they have signs of hypersensitivity reactions such as rash, hives, itching, fever, swelling or trouble breathing. The FDA granted this application Priority Review and Breakthrough Therapy designations. Firdapse also received Orphan Drug designation, which provides incentives to assist and encourage the development of drugs for rare diseases. The FDA granted the approval of Firdapse to Catalyst Pharmaceuticals, Inc. The FDA, an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, protects the public health by assuring the safety, effectiveness, and security of human and veterinary drugs, vaccines and other biological products for human use, and medical devices. The agency also is responsible for the safety and security of our nation's food supply, cosmetics, dietary supplements, products that give off electronic radiation, and for regulating tobacco products. How the mighty game companies have fallen Posted: 29 Nov 2018 08:52 AM PST Almost every huge game publisher EA, Activision Blizzard and even Bethesda now have gone from almost realizing perfect games. With perfect games i mean getting scores from critics and people playing them from above 80-90%+ But the culture in these companies has changed back in the day they were focused on making great games. Now a days they are more focused on pleasing the investor by trying to squeeze every penny out of their players. This has had an great effect on their earning and stock price but i feel like they are trading short term gains for long term ones. As an effect we have seen smaller indie publishers and even bigger ones like CD project red arise filling the void that these companies have left. [link] [comments] |
The future of $CPRX (Catalyst Pharma) Posted: 29 Nov 2018 08:31 AM PST Man. This seems like it could be it folks! Just bought a few call options ;) Bought in at $2.9 which was a little high but my options should give me a better position! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Nov 2018 08:15 AM PST My posts keep getting removed for referencing what I feel are important parts of my puzzle, so I will be as simple as possible! Just hoping for some sound investing advice, as my choices as of late have lost a lot of money...quite the opposite of what I wanted! I decided against ETF's because I have a 401k for retirement savings, and was hoping to buy and hold some solid stocks...as well as try to swing others. I did this with zero prior experience, which explains my losses. With that, I can message what I currently hold...but am looking for "what to do next"... I have about $2300 in stocks from about 7 different companies (some small, some blue chip). The account was worth over $3k just a few weeks ago, but a couple of my choices that I thought were solid have really crushed me. I have just under $200 available right now to buy with, and contribute $50 weekly to this account. Any and all suggestions, comments, input, etc are greatly appreciated!!! [link] [comments] |

Added value of a specific alternative asset class help (asset management) Posted: 29 Nov 2018 04:54 AM PST Hey guys, I am working on a project where I look at the added value of a specific asset class (such as PE-Buyout) to a fictional pension fund's portfolio (now 65% equity, 35% bonds). Some things I am looking at: -Efficient frontier analyse -Cov. matrix But also, finding a good proxy for the liabilities of this fictional pension fund, and approximating the liabilities with a index-linked bond (30years) (ALM, Strategic Asset Allocation) I have some specific questions, anyone experienced with this and willing to help me?
