r/StockMarket Live Discord chat room (Chart bot commands and more!) Posted: 17 Jun 2018 01:49 PM PDT Hello r/StockMarket! Welcome to September! I hope you all had an excellent summer. I've been meaning to redo this post in here for a while now. I figured with summer winding down and people returning back from their summer vacations and focusing on the markets again, this would be a good time to get this post up. If you are looking to hang out with a group of active traders & investors discussing the markets, feel free to drop into our live Discord chat room, it's completely free and very easy to join. To get to our official Discord server invite link, simply click on the link down below: [CLICK HERE FOR OUR INVITE LINK!] Joining is very easy, and takes no more than a couple of minutes to register your handle. You'll just need a valid e-mail address to verify your account and that's it, you're in and ready to chat with the rest of us! Our Discord server comes complete with charting bots as well. For those of you that are completely new to Discord and are wondering ... "bots"? Yes, we have bots that can posts charts and other useful market info. into the channels on executing commands. In fact, I've coded these bots from scratch, and have them hosted on my local server from home. I'm not done developing them however. I am still looking to get a couple of other things added into it. For example, I have been working to add a function that would pull those fancy Finviz Market Tree Maps into the room on a command. This still needs a lot of work on the code but I'm hoping to have that one complete at some point, hopefully soon. Anyway, unlike our last thread I won't post the full list of commands in here as it is quite extensive to be honest. I've posted the full list right into our Discord server under the channel named #bot_commands which you can find on the left sidebar at the top under the WELCOME group. You can also have the bot DM (direct message) you the full list by typing in !help into any of the rooms as well. Again, if you are looking for the invite link to our live room here it is: The link can also be found on our right sidebar here at r/StockMarket. I hope to see all of you joining us in the live chat soon! Lots of great discussions going on in there everyday! Oh, and I should also mention this in here as well, but our Discord server has recently had a bit of a makeover, and there are a lot more topics to choose from outside of just our main #general_live_chat. To see our full channel line-up, simply hit up the #server_info channel on the left sidebar at the top under the WELCOME group. Finally, don't forget to read the #rules. While we do allow for some off-topic chatter in our main #general_live_chat channel (especially on the weekends), that doesn't necessarily make the channel a free for all. It is still very much a trading/investing group, but we understand that there are valid cases for discussing politics, trade wars, and other topics that can impact the markets. The #general_live_chat is a bit more loose than our other topic-specific channels which will be enforced to stay on topic. Hope to see you guys all in the chat! :) [link] [comments]
Significant Insider Trading Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 26 Nov 2018 10:30 AM PST This is a list of the top 20 companies that experienced the largest change in insider shares in the last seven (7) days. The SEC defines an insider as any officer, director or 10% shareholder. It is not illegal for these people to buy or sell their own shares. In fact, since most of them get paid in stock options, it is expected. However, it is illegal for them to trade on inside information that has not been made public. So for example if there are drug trial results that are bad and not public, insiders cannot dump shares. That said, many people have observed that insiders - in general - seem to have a good track record at timing their purchases. All trades that are marked as part of a 10b5 plan are excluded from this report. Largest Insider Buying (Last 7 Days)

Stocks that are Rising/Falling And Why (26 Nov 2018) Posted: 26 Nov 2018 09:09 AM PST Each day I go through the top rising and falling stocks today, and look for (a) what the company actually does, and (b) why the stock is moving so much. Hopefully this saves you some digging! Below are my notes from 26 November 2018 as of mid-morning. (This list is limited to companies with market cap >$500 million, and also excludes VIX, short ETFs, etc, as these just reflect the market, rather than individual companies.)

Posted: 26 Nov 2018 02:36 PM PST Hey guys, your sub is very helpful. I have a TD Ameritrade account but instead of just buying stocks, could I just buy puts on companies? For example, would it be wise to short a stock if there is a lot of negative media (FB) in the news knowing their stock will drop? Is this an unwise strategy or should I just stick with buying stocks in the beginning? Short term prediction: Tuesday's gonna be bearish Posted: 26 Nov 2018 02:03 PM PST DISCLAIMER : I don't know shit Next couple weeks (at least) are going to be rocky and bearish. Expect a small pop at open and a sharp drop midday, followed by an afternoon rally to recover slightly down. I'm going to be taking some of today's profits at tomorrow's open, and keeping an eye open for any irrational drops in already undervalued stocks Hopefully RNJesus doesn't screw me too bad [link] [comments]

Significant Activist Hedge Fund Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 26 Nov 2018 10:30 AM PST These are the latest Schedule 13D forms filed by activist investors in the last 7 days. Activist investors are investors that make an investment with the intention of influencing management in some way. There is evidence that following activist investors into investments can generate excess returns. Schedule 13G forms, in contrast, are filed by significant investors with no intention of influencing management (such as Index funds). There is always a lot of interest in insider trades, but what a lot of people probably don't realize is that hedge fund activity is probably more predictive of future returns than insider activity. The reason is that hedge funds (a) have large research budgets, and (b) have a choice where to put their money. In contract, insiders have no choice where to put their money, but only when to time their transactions. New FilingsThis table lists new 13D filings in the last week. A new filing does not necessarily indicate a new position, as investors frequently accumulate in advance before reaching the filing threshold. Amended FilingsThis table lists amended filings in the last week, and is useful for monitoring changes in existing investments or when a fund closes a position. I have eliminated all filings with less than a 5% change in ownership. Shh.. Dont tell anyone but Silver is Cheapest ever to Gold in Decades Posted: 26 Nov 2018 12:41 PM PST In all the commotion and daily noise on stock markets little dip.... seems like this rare occurrence is slipping by. Gold to silver ratio is highest in many decades. In other words, Silver is way cheap to Gold. That opens up a good opportunity to go Long Silver and Short Gold. As they say, these are mean reverting ratios. What do you think? hey gods, im a stock newbie, i just wanna know if i get this right.... Posted: 26 Nov 2018 06:17 AM PST 1, every stock has earning per share, no exception? 2, EPS = earning per share, if the company is making net profit, i will absolutely get that cash per share every quarter/year? 3,DPS = dividend per share, if the company is making net profit, and decided not to reinvest the "company money" into further growth and give out the money to its share holder as a bonus, it means that i will %100 get my EPS money and occasionally plus my DPS money? (more money?) 4, for better understanding, in this case, if a company earns 2000usd net profit in a year, the company issues 20 shares in total, the company itself owns 10 shares and has 10 share holders(20 shares in total) , i own 1 share, so i will get at least a minimum of 100usd cash in a year, and if the company decides to pay dividend, the company has 1000usd(10shares), 1000/10share, meaning i will get 100usd bonus? a total of 200usd of owning 1 share? am i correct?
