    Nationwide Licensing

Hey everyone. Does anyone know a good site to get nationwide non-resident licensing?

I know of NIPR but was curious if there were any others.

guy rear-ended my car, guy doesn't have to pay because he wont talk to his car insurance?

    Posted: 09 Oct 2018 01:31 AM PDT

Some idiot barrels into my car around 40 miles per hour at an intersection while my car was stopped at a red light. I call the police but they don't dispatch an officer. I call my insurance, tell them what happened. Immediately, I notice my insurance person is an idiot and keeps bringing up I should pay for the damage with deductible even though the guy hit my vehicle. Now, my insurance person is telling me since his insurance can't get in contact with him that it's over and I have to pay for all the damage. What the fuck? So, basically if someone decides he's not gonna answer his phone he's exempt from fucking up someone's car? Note, my deductible would cost me 2500$

Speeding Ticket in Another State on that State's License - Necessary to report to insurance company?

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 08:45 PM PDT

My wife and I lived in Pennsylvania last year and both had Pennsylvania driver's licenses. A few months ago, my wife got a speeding ticket from highway patrol. It was a minor ticket, less than 10 mph over the speed limit if I remember correctly.

Now we are living in California and have California's driver licenses. I'm getting insurance quotes, but do I need to declare this speeding ticket when asked? I'm seeing conflicting advice online.

Comparing two job offers need guidance

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 01:12 PM PDT

I gave my info to a recruiter with a major insurance company. Several agencies reached out and offered me a position. I can't decide. Don't know if I'm getting a fair deal either way.

Agent 1: part time (which is what I want) about 15 hours a week in the office. $10/ hr plus commission and bonus. Commission and bonus amounts go up the more you sell. Can work from home selling at 100% commission. Doesn't seem like he'll provide phone and computer. No renewals. Office is 10 mins from my house.

    Agent 2:

Option 1. 100% commission. No salary. 100% of initial premium plus 50% renewal for P&C and 100% for life. Will provide phone and laptop.

Option 2: $15/ hr but must work in office. 25-30 mins from my house. 6% of the commission. No renewal. Commission goes up if I sell more.

I should mention that I do have a bachelors degree. I have H&L and P&C already. My background is health insurance customer service. No sales experience at all.

My Occasional driver had an accident. How does their traffic ticket affect me? If it's their 3rd on a 2 ticket limit policy, will I be covered ??

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 06:23 PM PDT

I was a little too slow to realize the risk you take on when you have occasional drivers. That's my fault, and I know the accident will follow me for 6 years, but I'm realizing that that information doesn't actually explain to me what's going on.

I have enough accident forgiveness to cover me and him for one at fault accident each. If I cancel him after this issue is dealt with (we don't live together and this would be an earnest cancel not a scheme), does his accident forgiveness somehow cancel, and then I have to pay a higher premium for the accident? 🤔

He got a careless driving ticket for misjudging and rear ending someone after the light turned green. Since that ticket is attached to the accident, my uncle says even after I remove the driver, it will affect my account. I find that confusing.

And holy shit... I just realized that I think my account only allows 2 lesser tickets per person. If he has 2 and then gets this ticket, does that mean that if my insurance autocancels, I'm not covered for this accident??? Or just that aside from dealing with this issue, the company is done with me? I am suddenly so freaked out.

Life insurance filled naltrexone in past

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 12:07 PM PDT

Hi all, One year ago I went to a new primary care doctor. I was binge drinking at the time because I lost a close friend. I am a health care professional and very well versed in medications. I had read about the Sinclair method (use of naltrexone as needed) and it sounded like it could help so I asked for a RX.

Even though I don't have formal diagnosis of alcohol use disorder and my alcohol use is now low, I am now seriously concerned that I might have screwed myself. I have read of people being denied coverage for have a history of filling this drug. My wife and I want to have a child soon and would like to get a life insurance policy in the near future.

I heard the company pulls your Rx history. Will I be denied because of this one prescription (refilled one time)? Is there anything I can do to show the circumstances and show that I am not a risk? Do companies only pull a couple of years of records?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to be penalized forever for asking for help during a low time in my life that has pasted.

    Thank you all.

Health Insurance and Turning 26, still in parent's household

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 09:54 AM PDT

I live in California and will be turning 26 in a few weeks. Currently, I'm under my parent's Blue Shield PPO plan which they got independently (not through work). FWIW, I live with my parents in their home, and my employer does not offer health insurance either since they're a small company. My annual income is around $35-40k.

    A) Will I be kicked off when I turn 26, or since they did not get their plan through work, will I be allowed to stay on their plan?

    B) My physician mentioned she's filled out forms for some of her patients turning 26 that allowed them to stay on their parent's plan. I couldn't find any info about this online, but is this an option available to me? If so, what is this form or petition called so I can investigate further?

From my limited understanding, I get that the law allows me to stay on their plan til I turn 26, but I'm unclear about whether I'm forcibly kicked off their plan or if there's an option to stay after since I'm still in their household. Also, I will be starting grad school full time around Fall 2019, and I can always get the student health insurance then, but that's not for another year. I'm healthy, non-smoker, etc, and my only medical expenses are psychiatrist visits and ADHD medication which without insurance is about ~$400/month because there is no generic available (with insurance I only pay the co-pay of $35). If I absolutely need to get my own individual plan, my main concern would be that it's affordable and covers this prescription.

Shop around after at fault accident. Worth to switch?

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 09:25 AM PDT

Hello dear r/insurance experts. After my at-fault-over-1K-in-damage accident, I finally got wind of the increase in my 6mos. policy. Went up 57%, from 180 to 297 a month (1032 to 1782 in paid in full). I know, I know, I am not here to complain.

I am shopping around to find a better rate, if possible. Obviously I am being honest in my quote and mentioning the accident and that it was over 1K. Progressive is giving me slightly better coverage with 209 a month, or 1200 if paid in full. I have not checked with StateFarm or any others.

Question is... is it worth it to jump ship? Are they still going to raise my rates after a while?

I would appreciate if anyone has experienced this. Or opinions from adjusters on changing companies after at-fault accident. Thanks.

    - Forgot to add, I am F, well over 25 but younger than 40, married. We have 3 cars (Forester 18, Corolla 16 and CRV 06) in Bay Area, CA, if that matters.

Totaling medical bills for an auto suit

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 06:20 AM PDT

Fairly extensive injuries. Medical benefits on auto policy ran out about 3 months in. Now regular medical insurance is covering treatment. Aside from the $ that the claimant must pay out of pocket on each EOB, what $ amount is used when keeping a total of the medical cost of the claim? The provider billed amount or the insurance allowed amount?

Progressive car insurance loyalty across state lines

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 02:12 PM PDT

I'm moving from a southern state to CA and the help line at Progressive has told me that my they'll need to create a new policy for my car insurance and I will lose my loyalty level (5 years). The FAQ says I should keep my loyalty level (although the plan will change of course). Anyone have any insight?

Car Insurance question: Under 25 and I put a hole in my bumper by accident

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 01:34 PM PDT

    Hi,

I accidentally backed into something protruding from the garage and that left me with a hole in my bumper.

I'm under 25 and I have an allstate policy.

If I file a claim for an accident that only involves me, would they increase my monthly payments?

Considering a career as an independent adjuster

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 07:23 AM PDT

Here is where I'm at. 27 - school teacher. Just not a fan of it. I like to be outside and I like to have freedom in the structure of my day. Being an independent adjuster sounds attractive because:

    1) they travel alot. It is my understanding that 80% of this job is traveling to file claims. Am I off base here?

    2) Money is good. Better than teaching for sure.

    3) Opportunity for catastrophe work, work really hard and make some good money.

The thought of traveling regionally daily is something I like. I also like the thought of structuring my days and weeks, almost as if I work for myself. I was a property preservation inspector before I taught and that was a good gig. I imagine the structure of the day is similar.

    ANYONE have any experience? Thanks

Applied for SDI too early--now what?

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 12:50 PM PDT

I'm not able to get through their automated system because it keeps telling me the maximum number of callers has been reached.

My last day of work was 10/05 so technically today 10/08 is the first day of my disability (pregnancy). I submitted the claim and got to the part where the doctor has to verify it before I realized I was supposed to wait 9 days after my date of disability to file it...

Now what do I do? Am I screwed? Please help!

    Geico Insurance Rate Increase

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 11:06 AM PDT

I have a family car insurance with 3 cars 2016 Mazda Cx -5 , 2012 Toyota Camry, 2006, Tyota Sienna, which all comes out to $1300/ 6 months. I had an accident back in June with Toyota Sienna, when I bumped into a parked car and damaged front bumper. Today I received a bill for next 6 months and it went up to $1930/ 6 months, and realized my Mazda Cx-5's insurance doubled (From $550 to $1150), instead of my Sienna.

I also realized the other person's quote for bumper repair was $1800.... so Geico is charging me extra $600 per 6 months, which would be $2400 for 2 years, 600 more than the actual repair cost?)

I also had my friend who is two years younger than me (28 years old), with 2 speeding ticket, 1 bumper collision, 1 reckless driving record, with BMW 430i, same zip code and exactly same coverage came out to be $1200/6 months.

WTF is this real? or am I just going stupid/crazy?

Auto insurance rate change (probably should have asked first)

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 11:00 AM PDT

Probably a dumb question, but bear with me.

TL;DR: Instead of renewing old policy with Progressve, signed up for a "new" auto insurance policy with same info. Rate went down from $500 to $363. Why?

I've had Progressive insurance for myself and my wife's cars for almost a decade. Love their service. Living 10 minutes from their headquarters helps a little, too.

I've been tweaking the same policy that entire time to suit our needs. Our rates have gone up and down, but recently went up with a newer car purchase. (My wife went from a 2006 Kia Sorento to a 2016 Kia Sedona.) I was also going to increase our coverage slightly when our next renewal came up at the beginning of November.

This all resulted in a new 6mo rate of about $500 (up from about $440 last spring).

Thinking this seemed high, I decided to go to the Progressive website but not log in. I went to their "name your rate" tool and put in slightly better coverage, same driving history, same cars, etc. Basically it was as if I was signing up for a new policy with my exact same info. The rate they came back with was $363.

I double checked everything. It was definitely the same coverage for the same cars.

I signed up for it, setting it to become active the day before my old policy ended.

It looks like it carried over my "Diamond membership" for having them continuously for X-years. It saw my homeowners insurance for the multi-policy discount, so they know it's me. Yet, somehow I'm saving $140 for doing almost nothing.

This gets to my question... Whaaaaaa? I don't know why it changed. What gives?
