Airplane Sales Question Sales and Selling

    Airplane Sales Question

    Posted: 07 Oct 2018 07:22 AM PDT

Saw a commercial for Boeing and it made me wonder, how much do salespeople make who work at large plane manufacturers (ie B2B from Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier, etc. selling to Delta, United, Southwest, etc) make in commission for selling a plane (dollars or percentage?) same thing for those who sell from Lockheed Martin, Boeing, etc to the military?

What activities do you do to keep you focused and entertained during long hours of cold calling?

    Posted: 07 Oct 2018 04:28 AM PDT

Between listening to the phone ring and voicemail messages there is a fair amount of downtime. What keeps you sharp between the actual calls where you get to talk to someone?

Transition from retail sales to account management

    Posted: 07 Oct 2018 08:34 AM PDT

Been working in retail sales for about 1.5 years and have always wanted to transition over to the B2B side of sales. What do companys expect when hiring an account manager for example? Is multiple years of experience in retail sales valued or is education valued higher?

    Recommendations - tips needed!

    Posted: 07 Oct 2018 07:01 AM PDT

Does anyone have any great tips for requesting LinkedIn recommendations from current clients? As I work in an account based role, asking current clients for a pat on the back feels a little awkward. Am I being too British here?

Does anyone use Bravado or similar for this? Although I am pretty well established in my industry, my long-term goal is to build a personal brand as a 'trusted advisor' to customers.

    CBD oil sales?

    Posted: 07 Oct 2018 11:07 AM PDT

I had a gentleman reach out to me on Linkedin for a job selling cbd oil to drug, grocery, and vet clinics. He says majority of deals are able to be one call closes and I would see recurring revenue. He listed first year OTE for about 2-300k (commission only, unsure on benefits). I currently work at ADP and have some accolades and promotions but my plan was always to pivot into the medical device industry but this is definitely an interesting opportunity. What's your thoughts?

Last minute tips for my first in person meeting SAAS

    Posted: 07 Oct 2018 02:42 AM PDT

I am having my first in-person sales meeting tomorrow. I worked in SAAS for a year and everything was done online. Recently, we participated in a tech festival in our city and one of the prospects invited us to their office.

I already had an initial online demo with CEO. He likes the tool and he wants me to get the rest of the team onboard. I will be doing a demo for around 6 managers and 4 C-levels. I will be joined with my colleague from Customer Success who will explain our training approach, set dates etc.

I am not stressing as I know the product well, but wondering, if there is anything done different that just does not come to my mind. Any tips?

    Thanks!

When (if ever) has your sales career crossed moral lines?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 05:09 PM PDT

Has there ever been a time when a certain morally shaky sales tactic or company has presented such a high opportunity for money that you took it? Were you close? What made the decision final?

Started at a small Freight Forwarder, selling any kind of shipping but our focus is large exports. Looking for tips.

    Posted: 07 Oct 2018 05:03 AM PDT

I ran my own ecommerce brand for a bit and did my own imports so I'm familiar with the process of forwarding but I have never sold it.

Been doing it for about three weeks, it's harder than I would have thought.

The company has nothing in terms of marketing or selling, though they are awesome at the forwarding biz. They've been around for a while and survived off word of mouth.

My little sales job is basically my business, the owner doesn't even know where to start. I guess my questions all hover around what I should do to pull in leads?

I've set up a basic website separate from the owners, under my own name, so I have control over content and hopefully get leads from it eventually. Same thing for Facebook/linedin.

Right now I get most of my leads from public business directories, simply calling in to their logistics. This doesn't amount to much success, but it's the best I have. Success for me is measured by having a good convo with the decision maker and setting an informal agreement to have me check some quotes.

I'd like to develop a better lead system for calls, and develop any lead system for email. I don't have much going on with email other than what o get from the calls I make. I'd like to send out around 100 emails a day, but I simply don't have the addresses to do that right now.

Buying Decisions Are 95% Emotional. In which Sales Fields are Decisions 100% Emotional?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 12:15 PM PDT

My vote would have to go to fashion (brand to store), People will turn down better designs at better prices because I didn't do enough. while we're on the topic, I personally use VR to immerse potential clients and emotionally draw them in PM me or comment below if you want to discuss getting emotional connection through the internet

    Never Split The Difference

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 02:54 PM PDT

Has anyone read this book? Does it apply to sales? I've heard some recommendations for it and wondering if it's worth my precious audible credit. I'm doing B2C telemarketing sales, and would love a book that helps me to not just overcome the typical objections, but win people over fast to even stay on the line long enough to hear my pitch. I'm dealing with prospects who can be hostile and curt (warmer leads and inbounds to come as I close more, but lukewarm or cold leads for now). I'm new to phone sales. It's much harder than I thought. I'm selling what is basically a kind of life or health insurance. They want it but think they don't need it, and can't justify the cost of a preventative measure. I'm also dealing with prospects who have already been contacted and said no. I need to "win them over". Is the book a good book for salespeople? It seems unique. Any other book recommends appreciated!

Do emails that come out of third party CRM/Sales tools get lower open rates/reply rates?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 07:26 PM PDT

As opposed to coming out of your regular inbox?

I think I heard this before from somewhere, but I am not sure.

Just to be clear, I am asking if an email coming out of hubspot/salesloft/salesforce etc, will have a higher chance of going to spam compared to sending it straight out of gmail/outlook.

    IT sales transition from engineer

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 01:08 PM PDT

Working in an unhappy role at the moment in IT and have been for the last few years. My overall enjoyement has dimminished as the years have went by.... i find it boring.. like really boring. If it works great.

I like speaking with people, helping people, offering advice and dealing with the whole customer service side. I enjoy the banta, engagement with people etc.

Id like to transition into sales. I wouldnt object to completley moving away from IT. I dont build pcs when I am at home, I dont really have a passion for it and never have.

Salary wise I earn 24k per year so not a massive salary. I would like to earn over 30-40k but not sure on the market for IT sales. My knowledge for IT would help but any advice would be great. I really want to make this as a career.

The stress level doesnt bother me as I have worked in IT on call for years so I can handle stress.

IT sales is there.such a strong market? Am I better.moving away into sales for a different market?

    Cheers.for reading

    Personality test before offer?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 12:16 PM PDT

    Anyone else seen this?

I've been through a pretty lengthy interview process that vetted my work history and sales abilities. I've now been told that I need to take a personality test before an offer can be made.

Does this seem odd to any of you?

Anyone know what kind of results they typically look for on these? Iirc, these are usually questions but how you perceive yourself. Would it be safe to assume they want confidence and integeity?
