    Tell us about your startup!

/r/startups wants to hear what you're working on! Contest mode is on, so remember to select 'Show All' to see all the replies. If you don't see your post, you probably need to load more comments at the bottom. Also, all posts are sorted randomly, so the sort function doesn't seem to work.

Looking for feedback on our one sentence pitch: "Meet the colleague of the future"

    Posted: 02 Aug 2018 01:30 AM PDT

I'm currently working on building tools that really help people perform at their best at work. Identifying areas where they lose a lot of time (such as searching for documents or information) and building solutions around those problems.

I'm trying to come up with a way to interest people in one line. It's designed to be our opening line when we meet new customers, investors, and for people who come to our site. I want it to resonate instantly with work (hence "colleague") and with something that will change the life of a user ("the future").

Meet the colleague of the future

What do you immediately think of? Does it peak your interest? Would you read more?

    Many thanks for the input!

I have a solid startup idea but I suck at making money :(

    Posted: 01 Aug 2018 08:45 AM PDT

Hi there! So, I've been an entrepreneur before and have had a few really solid ideas that got people interested. The only think is, I really suck at making money and I'd like to get better. I'm trying to pinpoint the problem. If I had to say it's I really don't understand the value of money and how it can grow. Also, I'm a little familiar with some business models like freemium, razor blade models but I'm really bad at getting creative with those models. Lastly, I'm not a growth hacker. I feel this is really important to growing a business. I just started reading blogs and other sites. So, anyone else have this issue that has gotten better? What can I do to become a money making machine?

    how to find a partner?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2018 07:59 AM PDT

Hello everyone, I have a little money (BRL 100K - USD 25K) and a business idea, but i am gonna have to partner up with two more people, one that knows better than me how the market works and one that knows how to program an app. That said, i'd like to know from your experience how should i approach the potential partners. What concerns should I have in mind? Should I bring up my idea in the first conversation? What am I looking for in a partner? Should I be concerned with the specifics of my idea? How should i suggest to split equity? Thanks!

VC funding rounds and equity plays

    Posted: 01 Aug 2018 05:15 AM PDT

Hi I am curious what typical valuation is for pre-ipo stocks that are delivered to employees. I.e if someone was to join in a series b or c round what can be expected for pre-ipo stock count? Also how does one consider offers from VC backed companies in each round of funding.

    Example:

Series A- software engineer -Annual Compensation $ -Quantity pre Ipo stock #

Series A- sales -Compensation (base and commission OTE) $ -Quantity pre Ipo stock #

Series B- software engineer -Annual Compensation $ -Quantity pre Ipo stock #

    Series C -Sales -Software engineer

    Etc etc etc...
