Anyone with an experience of running subscription box

    Posted: 30 Jun 2018 11:40 AM PDT

I am starting a wellness subscription box, currently pre-launching, specialising on relaxation and selfcare addressing body, mind and soul. I am seeing praise on my idea but not getting sign ups. I mostly use instagram and promote there. Like its said its not the idea but more of how its executed. I wanted to ask some questions from someone who has had an experience with subscription box and also welcome any other perspective.

How long did it take you to see growth? How long have you been doing it for? What are the main challenges you faced? Any tips on marketing, gaining subscribers or anything would be valuable.

    So where to from here?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2018 07:40 PM PDT

After many months of hard work my husband and I's dream to create an adventure based mobile app has been realised. Through the app, we run events in given geographical locations where players complete fun and challenging quests to discover new and exciting locations.

The Android and iOS app have undergone a thorough testing period and were subsequently soft launched in early April. To our delight/relief it was a resounding success, people loved the idea and the app worked well whilst turning a tidy profit (we managed to sell over 500 tickets)

To develop the app we worked closely with a development firm. To date, the quality of code has been outstanding, but recent changes to their management team has really impacted on their ability to deliver good work in a timely manner.

Survey feedback from our first event/soft launch was really positive and it also identified areas where we could improve; to make for a better end-user experience and to reduce the time required to run an individual event.

Moving forward, the perfect scenario for us would be an equity share developer/s who are passionate about the project. The truth why we are looking for an equity share developer is a simple one. The app in its current state:

    - Available on iOS and Android
    - Sound CMS
    - Great landing page
    - Solid social media presence

Would be good enough to run 3-4 events/year locally and return a small but reasonable profit. But as discussed above, a few improvements would allow for larger profits and a better user experience.

    So where to from here?

Do we take 6 months to run more events with the app as it stands in order to build the equity required to finance the improvements required OR do we try and find a equity share developer/s?

If you think it should be the latter then where does one start? Where do I find a developer that would be willing to work for an equity share? What should the equity share be?

Thanks for reading and would really appreciate any comments or questions :)

I don't have any problems and if I do, I normally can find a solution pretty quickly...

    Posted: 01 Jul 2018 01:57 AM PDT

So everyone has probably heard the classic story of a person that encounters a problem in life, they look for solutions and can't find anything. So...now this person builds it themselves. OH! Other people have this problem too! Sells, Becomes filthy rich.

The only problem I have is lack of money LOL. Any other problem I have had in life, could easily be solved by buying preexisting products. So what now? I read a quote somewhere that stated that the you are most successful entrepreneurs follow this route. I think it was from some incubator.

Should I just try to live my life so I can encounter as many problems as possible?

    Pivot ideas

    Posted: 01 Jul 2018 12:33 AM PDT

    Hey Guys,

We are looking for a new idea for our website. The original website was shut down (it was a mix of a social media platform and an encyclopaedia) and we are looking for a new pivot idea. In a nutshell it's a platform to post shorter articles with images. The website is made of "collections". Users can follow collections and authors get updates on their homepage. Each collection is built around a certain topic (something like a subreddit).

Looking at the layout, what practical applications do you think we can find for the website?

    The layout: http://docdro.id/lSOIE2o

Thanks for the feedback and ideas!

    Mobile App Startup Need Advice

    Posted: 01 Jul 2018 12:24 AM PDT

Hi Reddit, my friends and I are developing a mobile application, but because of the amount of work and expertise required, we decided to recruit a few other volunteers to help with the app. Is there any way to create a contract for the other volunteers to prevent them from taking our idea and developing their own applications?? What else should we do to prevent other people from using our ideas to develop their own copy of our app? In addition, how do we divide equity between cofounders and turn this fun passion project into an actual startup? Thanks.

Gearing up for a kickstarter campaign

    Posted: 30 Jun 2018 12:14 PM PDT

I'm getting a working prototype of my product made next week. The. After that I'll start setting up the structure of my business. As I'm looking for ways to fund my startup I'm going to run a kickstarter campaign. I've been looking into different marketing companies to see if using a marketing company to run the kickstarter would be beneficial. Have any of you ran a successful kickstarter or indiegogo campaign? What should I be looking out for and what's steps should I take to increase the chances of it being successful?

How to jump into a startup that’s in beta?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2018 04:29 PM PDT

So a friend and I had an idea we began discussing a year or so ago, but to to outside circumstances I couldn't commit the time I needed to help get it off the ground. He has since gone to find a tech partner and is in beta currently. I have come into significantly more free time and he has been looking for some advice so we've organically been discussing future phases and launch, broadening market, etc...

Question is, with a tech partner I've never met, but an opportunity to be one of the original 3, how would I navigate discussing ownership, etc when I wasn't involved in what I feel was the "heavy lifting" but knowing I could have significant impact on customer acquisition and securing funding for growth going forward,

In short, my future stake seems much more significant than me being on board from the start anyway, but I'm unsure how/when to initiate conversations around the topic vs. just consulting "for free".

Series LLC in Delaware vs. Illinois (E-Commerce Startup)

    Posted: 30 Jun 2018 01:03 PM PDT

I have a small e-commerce business that I've been running as a sole prop for almost a year now. In looking into LLCs, I came across Series LLC and feel that would be right for me because I also do some freelance consulting, and would like to protect future businesses that I'm currently biz devving. (All of this is done online and requires no physical location, so I figured it would be best to create a Series LLC so I could have that main "umbrella" entity Example LLC along with its series of cells (ECom1 LLC, Consulting LLC, Ecom2 LLC, etc.)

I'm currently living in Illinois, but I've done a lot of reading about the legal protections Delaware offers. At the same time, I've read that Illinois tends to mimic DE's laws to make it more corp-friendly.

Seeing as how my business requires no physical location, I'm struggling to decide if I should incorporate in Illinois where I reside or Delaware where there may be more legal protection.

Does anyone have experience in doing something like this and cares to share their strategy/legal structure? I'm really trying to cut down on costs, so I'd like to avoid having to file for separate LLCs as I launch new ventures.
