Can't get clients. What am I doing wrong? Posted: 30 Jun 2018 06:04 AM PDT I'm a self-taught PHP enthusiast. I set up a website to start working as a freelancer three months ago. Since then, I've bid on UpWork like crazy, sent out cold-call texts to businesses (real estate, restaurants and gyms) i found on Facebook. No luck. I've edited my pitch and done every thing (I know) to help my situation but, no joy. Will someone have a look at my site and tell me what I'm doing wrong. My site: WebsiteNinja.pro Edit: I build landing pages and page designs [link] [comments] |
How long till you turn in a profit Posted: 30 Jun 2018 11:41 PM PDT Just want to ask a quick question. How many years did it take for you to turn in a profit and what industry are you on? (retail, manufacturing, service, IT, etc) [link] [comments] |
Prospective business owner and have a ton of questions. Posted: 01 Jul 2018 01:07 AM PDT First off, I am unsure if my state even requires a business license for what I am doing. Im going to open a mobile detailing business for companies that have semi's. I have looked at the one stop portal my state has and cannot find anything that is relevant to car washes. Cost of business. How do I calculate costs for this kind of thing. One im going to be driving there, and then car wash materials including brushes, wipes, rags, etc. Do i calculate by how many I would use for the job? For instance if I have a gallon jug of wash that I paid 10 dollars for; do i need to estimate cost by seeing how much a capful cost? Or do I just estimate what a week's worth of work will use and just make enough to cover that? And lastly, since I will be washing vehicles is there a type of insurance or something I should get? In case someone tries to say that I damaged something when I didnt or took something out of the vehicle? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Jun 2018 08:44 AM PDT So I'm trying to start my own business. I'm in the very beginning stages, and I have no idea what I'm doing. Its going to be an outdoor adventure type business. I live in oregon, but I think a lot of my tours will go out to Washington. What do I need to do to get going, any help would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Got a Hum X for our work truck. Posted: 30 Jun 2018 01:09 PM PDT So I have been looking into OBD readers for our work trucks so I can keep track of my other crews hours since the old supervisor we had over there was fudging the hours. He's since been replaced and now I have an OBD reader in their truck (Autobrain, works surprisingly well). These readers are great, they tell me exactly when the truck is off and on so I can get a good look at when the crew completed and got to a job. It tells me basic car health such as battery level and whatnot and also tells me how much fuel I've used daily and how many miles I've driven for the day/week/month. The thing that really sold me on the Hum X was the WiFi hotspot. I work in lawncare and landscaping so keeping guys on board is tough. I do everything I can to keep them around and I try to make everything as easy on them as possible, all while increasing productivity for my business. As soon as I told them the truck has a WiFi hotspot they've been pretty excited to come to work. They play Fortnite on their Nintendo switches on the way to job sites (we do commercial work so job sites can be 20mins or more away from each other). On long drives they'll bring their iPads and watch Netflix. Now you may be thinking "but what if they just sneak back to the truck and play on their things while you're gone?", the Hum auto shuts off 3 mins after the truck is turned off so I'm not worried about that. So what are some things you guys have done to make your employees more excited about working? [link] [comments] |
Using same business name for separate family owned businesses Posted: 30 Jun 2018 08:08 AM PDT My family has a farm that has been in operation for three generations. First as a dairy and now as a grass feed beef farm. I am looking at starting an urban farm as a side project in a city away from the existing land. Our family would like to share the name for branding purposes yet run the two businesses separately for operations and financial purposes. The thought is to keep decision making and taxes separate for each venture. What is the best way to achieve this? Can we simply form another LLC and have legal document created giving use of the name? Other options. Not looking for legal council but for options as we put together a plan. Thanks for any help! Education is the key to success for SME Posted: 30 Jun 2018 07:47 AM PDT Recently joined this board and wanted to share some knowledge for other fellow small business owners. I've been learning quite a bit of knowledge from other posters on here. You can learn quite a lot of knowledge these days for free online from youtube, articles, and blogs. But sometimes there isn't much info on a selected topic out there or what is out there is just basic information. There are other ways you can get more in-depth knowledge for very little cost as well. I personally buy courses online for various topics which I think might help me. Some online courses I have purchased over the years relate to marketing, seo, management, and software. I encourage others on here to search for online courses that may interest them, but always check the reviews on it, and also who is the course instructor. If its been highly reviewed, and the topic is something that is related to you or your business then $5 - $20 is well worth the cost. The best courses are very informative, have a great structure to them, and also provide lots of awesome content/ideas to implement. Good luck fellow entrepreneurs. [link] [comments] |
Question about Customer Service Posted: 30 Jun 2018 03:04 PM PDT What are the biggest frustrations you have tracking your customer service issues? [link] [comments] |
Does anyone here offer financing options to customers? Has it worked? Posted: 30 Jun 2018 03:01 PM PDT Hey everyone! I've been thinking of offering a financing option on my online store. Most of our products are in the $20-$299 range, but we have about 4 that's over $2,000, so we're hoping financing would help us sell a lot more of those. Does anyone here offer financing options to their customers? If so, what company do you use? And how has it performed? I'm leaning towards Blispay right now, but I'd love to hear what everyone else is doing. [link] [comments] |
What's your WiFi setup for customers at your restaurant/cafe ? Posted: 30 Jun 2018 01:50 PM PDT I'm just a 19 year old that's trying to help my parents (who don't speak English and don't know about how wifi works) run their restaurant. We're having issues with the internet. Our computers and our customers both use the same internet connection. We've been having a lot of trouble lately with our internet connection being super slow or randomly going down. I assume it's because we are all sharing the same connection. So my question is, how can we have a set up so that our computers and the customers use 2 different internet connections? Do we need 2 different modems and 1 router for each? Or only 1 modem and 2 different routers? ..Maybe it's neither. I honestly don't know what I'm talking about or how other places have their wifi situation set up. [link] [comments] |
How did you go about hiring your first employee? Posted: 30 Jun 2018 01:09 PM PDT Hoping to learn how others took the leap from solo business owner to having a team. I'm curious how you overcame the catch 22 of needing more people to grow but not having enough money to pay two people's salary. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Jun 2018 11:40 AM PDT I own a computer repair business and I'm signed up with thumbtack. I'm not so fond of the idea of paying just to talk to a potential customer but I'm just starting out and would like a way to get in front of more people. Does anyone know of any similar sites that would work with a computer repair business? [link] [comments] |

Need help with Canadian small business information. Posted: 30 Jun 2018 10:26 AM PDT So I have a very vague title. I'm in Ontario Canada and have a ton of questions. First the reason why. I have been offered a job but the location is not turning a profit so to be an hourly employee would actually hurt the business. They have asked if I could run as an independent contractor under my own tax number. This is very attractive as it would mean I am paid substantially more money. The questions I have are as follows: - How does one in Ontario Canada obtain a business tax number? - What would I need to charge monthly on my invoice? - Besides taxes, what other pitfalls come with this situation? I'm new to all of this and am looking for all the help I can get. [link] [comments] |
