    Costco raising minimum wage.

    Posted: 02 Jun 2018 08:50 AM PDT

So I do not understand how this will effect the stock price. From an outside perspective it looks great for the company but internally isn't raising minimum wage a bad thing? Costco will now have more expenses.

Calculating revenue generated that is not explicitly mentioned in an income statement

    Posted: 02 Jun 2018 08:30 AM PDT

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this sort of question. But I am trying to value a company and they have an income statement that shows the income and expenses like this

     1 Revenue(3+16) 2 Product Sales and Service 3 Total Operating Income(2) 4 Generation Expense 5 Distribution Expense 6 Total Operating Expense(4+5) 7 Operating Profit(2-6) 8 Administrative Expense 9 Depreciation Expense 10 SG&A(8+9) 11 Provision of Loss(Income) in investment 12 Profit Before Other Income, Interest and Tax(7-10) 13 Dividend Income 14 Forex Gain(Loss) 15 Other Income 16 Total Other Income(13+14+15) 17 PreInterest Income(12+16) 18 Interest Paid 19 Profit Before Bonus and Tax(17-18) 20 Bonus 21 Deferred Tax 22 Net Profit/Income(19-20-21)

Currently, I am adding Product Sales and Service/Total Operating Income and Total Other Income to get the revenue, as they are the only things that are generating the money. Is my concept right or I am doing wrong.

    Posted: 02 Jun 2018 11:40 AM PDT

    Hi,

So, I want to find an app that helps you learn investing, but without losing real money. Like, you have some tokens in the game and you learn to manage it by the terms of today's stock market. Is there such an app?

Admittedly there are some short term risks but the potential opportunities from Disney strategic switch to direct streaming are huge

    Posted: 02 Jun 2018 09:29 AM PDT

Disney currently has about 1bn subscribers to its channels. If even one fifth of those subscribers pay for a direct subscription of $10 per month the company will see a notable increase in revenues. If half of them shift over revenues will increase from $20 billion to $60 billion. Plus there are loads of marketing opportunities which I am sure Disney will exploit to the fullest extent.

An earnings multiple of just 18 times 2018 earnings would put the stock on about $130 or 30% above Fridays close.

This post is not a recommendation to buy or sell any security or derivative. Stocks are not suitable for all investors. Please do your own research.

Raamdeo Agrawal was born in a middle-class family. He was living in a town in a remote place where there were no power and legitimate streets. During his study, he met Mr.Motilal Oswal. They teamed up and decided to enter the stock market after completion of a study. They established "Motilal Oswal" sub-broking firm in 1987. From small sub-broking firm, Motilal Oswal has become a big financial service provider today.

Mr.Raamdeo Agrawal made a lot of money from the stock market as he is extremely good at selecting a stock. He is an analyst and value investor, his first multi-bagger stock pick was Hero Honda in 1997. Looking for an upcoming business opportunity in motorcycle business he invested in Hero Honda stock. Hero Honda has to turn out to be first multi-bagger stocks for him.

The next choice of Raamdeo Agrawal was Infosys in 1998. Wherever he might see a chance of a world Y2K boom. The journey continues with a stock choose ofAirtel, wherever a chance was known for mobile business.

Raamdeo Agrawal mantras of finding Multibagger stocks

Mr. Raamedo Agrawal is extremely generous once it involvessharing data. He shared his mantras of finding multi-bagger stocks to the investors.

    Cash Flow

Cash flow of the company operating cash flow and free cash flow of company should be positive. Cash flow indicates profitability of the company. In order to know cash flow, you need to study cash flow statement of the company. If cash flow of the company is healthy go for it.

    Return on Equity

The Return on Equity (RoE) is an important parameter for the selection of stock. The RoE of the company should be minimum 20%. You should never look at a company with low RoE. In addition to that RoE of the company should be increasing. It should not be declining or stand still. RoE indicates that company is allocating proper funds and generating better returns.

    Longevity of the Business

Check the longevity of the business. How long business growth story will continue? Predicting longevity is a pure judgment based on experience. Can the stock be next McDonald where franchise demand will continue forever or it will be like kingfisher airlines disaster?

    Terms of Trade

The second thing which is important for the stock selection is Terms of Trade. Check if the company is able to trade the product with cash on delivery or prepayment basis. The credit period indicates demand and strength of products.

A company that offers long credit period indicates that demand for the product in the market is low as a company has to tempt the buyer to purchase the product by giving long credit period. On the other hand, a company with prepayment product indicates that buyer is ready to pay money upfront to purchase the product and competition is less.

    Competition

Check if the company will be able to withstand the competition in the market or not. If a company is generating good revenue it is likely to face big competition, but there is an entry barrier or monopoly product it will rule the market.

What are your views about value investing?

    Posted: 01 Jun 2018 06:34 PM PDT

I mean this is pretty serious stuff. These investors basically claim that all short-term trading (disregarding acting on the basis of material nonpublic info) is basically just noise and volatility... and that since so many engage in it there must be some winners and losers.

Is value investing the only truly rational way to invest? Why or why not?
