    5G data

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 02:43 PM PDT

I believe 5G data will be the talk of 2019 and it is supposed to be available on smartphones by next year (how available will it be is still a question). Which companies do you see benefiting most from this? Some I see right now are Qualcomm, Intel, and Nokia

How do you feel about AVGO?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 07:24 PM PDT

Well, there's something different from what I thought I was going to see

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 04:57 PM PDT

Hi guys! Sorry for the I-don't-know-what-I'm-doing post. But this happened today, and I can't figure out why. My stop-buy for TALO was set for 32.16, and triggered at 32.45. Nothing all that unusual if it was in the middle of trending up and shot past my limit...except it doesn't appear that TALO has been at 32.45 in the last week. Yet I'm looking right at precisely that.

Can any patient soul tell me what I did wrong here, so I don't turn around and do it all over again?

Lots of tech news this week! Tech Review: Week of 6-08-2018

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 10:17 AM PDT

    • Lots of big news tech out this week! Some key ones below. Check out my daily notes for more: http://zenanalyst.com/2018/06/08/tech-review-week-of-6-08-2018/
    • ZTE resolution with the US government comes as a big relief to the market.
    • PC sales strong as HP, Lenovo and Dell all reported, all reported share gains vs. smaller players. DRAM pricing continues to be a headwind for all 3.
    • Many negative FB headlines this week, kicked off by NYT's investigative piece demonstrating FB's loose data policy. This should give users another reason not to trust the company, while investors should be concerned with the ethical culture created by management (like Uber).
    • Google backs down from a DoD contract after backlash from employees, demonstrating the power of scarce tech talent. This may have led to a congressional investigation into Alphabet's dealings with Huawei.
    • MU is being investigated by Chinese authorities, likely another sign of increasing trade tension between China and the US.
    • Softbank sells 51% of its ARM Holdings China operations to China-led group of investors, certainly getting ruffling some feathers @ congress.
    • MSFT acquires Github for a cool $7.5 billion.
    • A wealth of information form Apple's 2018 Worldwide Developers Conference. Also, IDC data shows Apple dominating wearables.
    • Warren Buffett and Jamie Dimon, in a joint interview, calls for the end of quarterly guidance.

Getting to know the Oil & Gas market.

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 12:46 PM PDT

I'm relatively new to trading, and I've been considering investing in oil stocks but I want to learn more about the market before I do.

I know political shenanigans and wars are likely to affect oil prices etc. Are there other things specific to oil that should be considered before investing, for both short term and long term investment?

What has been your experience with oil stocks?

Valero Energy (VLO) caught my eye. Doubled in a year and from what I can tell hasn't been strongly affected by the overall market in the last 2 months: https://www.google.com/search?q=NYSE:VLO&e=4112296&tbm=fin&biw=1920&bih=916#scso=uid_KdwaW6WWIY6TzwKuhIKgCQ_5:0&smids=/m/0cqyw&wptab=COMPARE

Apple Dropping Pre-Market, Did We Hit a Top?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 06:11 AM PDT

(CNBC) Apple's orders for new iPhone parts may fall 20 percent from last year for the year's first half, according to Japan's Nikkei news service. Sources tell Nikkei that Apple is being conservative with its orders.

From a different perspective, I think we should all take a step back. We can't expect Apple to continue to sell as many IPhones as it once did. I do believe that Humans world-wide will continue to have Apple products in their hands and homes decades from now.

But today, the products Apple is putting out now are ones that do not need to be replaced every year. I, myself, have had my iPhone for over 4 years with little problems. To me, this decrease in supply orders doesn't scare me. People do not have to replace their products every year. But overall, I dont see a move away from Apple products anytime soon.

I do not think this is a top and do belive Apple will be the first compnay to reach a Trillion dollar market cap. Let me remind you it's net income is double the closest competitor.

    What do you think?

ELI5: how do taxes on gain work?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 08:19 AM PDT

I am a new investor about 5 months in. I have half of my position in ETFs/Mutuals funds and the other half I have been day trading/swing trading. I have made some decent money but I am confused on how taxes work and the information I have found online hasn't really cleared things up.. If anything I'm more confused. Can someone explain it in simple terms for a noobie? Thanks in advance!

    bogus broker will_rod08atyahoo.com

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 02:10 PM PDT

This is another bad trading experience. I got ripped off by a scam broker recently it was impossible to get a withdrawal even after several attempts. I had to hire a recovery firm to get my funds back, glad this is finally over.

    CWH is worth your consideration.

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 05:07 AM PDT

I have a friend who works in finance and his firm was really high on them. We discussed investing on Tuesday and early Wednesday. I was a bit weary because of the 50% drop over the last 6 months. Apparently the reason for the massive drop in value was because of an attempt to diversify and make their business a bit more sustainable during a recession. CWH specializes in RV sales, so they actually bought up a smaller competitor and a camper insurance business. It appeared have bottomed out, however I decided to play it safe and wait for a little more confirmation that a reversal was in place. Well, on Wednesday it bolted up 10%, at which point I bought in at 21. Yesterday it surged an additional 20%, red market be damned. Their financials look solid, and I'm pretty optimistic about their future. Again, full disclosure, I do have a small position.
