The tech sector is now the biggest sector in the market as most of the world's largest firms are involved with the mobile internet. The internet is so pervasive that even traditional players heavily utilize the internet to do business. Many large firms have smartphone applications to reach their customers. Many investors criticize redefining traditional firms by calling them tech because that definition often comes with a hefty multiple. While it's fair to question why a traditional firm should get a higher multiple just because it has an app, that doesn't eliminate the point that all firms utilize the internet.

This is what public markets need!!! - Dimon, Buffett Urge CEOs to End Quarterly Earnings Forecasts

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 07:27 AM PDT

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-06-07/dimon-buffett-urge-companies-to-end-quarterly-earnings-guidance

Warren Buffett and Jamie Dimon are doubling down on their plea for corporations to stop providing quarterly earnings guidance.

Buffett, who runs Berkshire Hathaway Inc., and Dimon, JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s chief executive officer, said in a joint Wall Street Journal editorial that they are encouraging all public companies to consider moving away the practice, arguing that it can stifle long-term investments.

"Quarterly earnings guidance often leads to an unhealthy focus on short-term profits at the expense of long-term strategy, growth and sustainability," they said.

The two men are among the financial industry's most powerful leaders. They have said the practice of telling Wall Street what to expect from earnings can distort management's priorities. In the latest appeal, they said companies often hesitate to spend on technology, hiring, and research and development to meet quarterly earnings forecasts that can be affected by seasonal factors beyond their control.

Five Below Up 15% Pre Market, Too High?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 05:47 AM PDT

Five Below reported a quarterly beat this morning and comparable same-store sales declined. The only thing I can see that might have shed some light is the uptick in revenue guidance. Then again, there could be a large institution taking a large stake driving the price up.

This to me is a great example of a crazy market move. The fundamentals of the company are not stellar but they are okay, large ROE and little debt. But overall the 15% I think is a bit much and is too high right now.

What do you think are you buying or selling $FIVE?
