NEED ADVICE, I think I got scammed by yelp. Posted: 02 Jun 2018 09:00 AM PDT Tldr at bottom. I just recently opened an automotive repair shop about 5 months ago. As a new business owner and a new business, it's actually going pretty well. Numbers and cashflow are stable for the past 3 months, no ups or downs. Just flat line but enough to pay for everything and extra for myself. But here is where Yelp came in at the end of month #3. They promised me double customer base, double the traffic, and more visibility, if the verbal terms are not met, I don't pay anything. Sounds good right? Every small business owner would love that.. if it was true. But I agreed on it verbally which can be used against themselves too and benefit me if it was recorded. No written contracts but I did give them my debit card number which I was okay with. They put me through a course on how to use my yelp page , etc and basically they put my business on the top of the ad. I have to get 66 clicks a month on the ad then I pay them a large sum of money for the clicks. Well a whole month had passed, it was at 50 clicks. My business number has not changed, but I got charged the full amount by yelp. Luckily my bank called me at 9am, declined it as a fraud charge, and I explained everything to my bank and they said they're willing to work with me. Gave me a new debit card while putting my personal on hold. Til I receive the card. To me, it seems like I got scammed by a larger company which I'm not surprised. First: I keep getting emails demanding I need to pay. Secondly: filtering my reviews. my loyal customer's review submittions are not going through yelp, but they also post on Google which goes through no problem. Third thing: besides paying the large sum of money to them, how can I get them off my back? I don't wanna have any relations with yelp anymore. I told them to take my page down from yelp. They just want the money. I don't want my business to be ruined because of yelp, I rather have no yelp page then them filtering reviews in the long run.Tldr; yelp promised me more customers, they didn't deliver the promise and charge me a lot of money. I didn't want to pay, now I'm being harassed and maybe someday ruining my business in the future. What steps can I take rightnow to get them off my back. [link] [comments] |
Suggestions for Small business Consulting? Posted: 02 Jun 2018 05:06 PM PDT So I'm starting up a business and I have so many questions. I am told that it is best to consult an expert or adviser, etc. but where can I find one and with as little costs as possible? I really just need questions answered one time then I'd be good to go. Mostly related to merchandising, hiring employees and money management. I would really appreciate any advice! Thank you! [link] [comments] |

Do you know any restaurants that might find my service interesting? Posted: 02 Jun 2018 04:38 AM PDT My project is a food pre-order app where customers can order their food using their phone (or other device) without waiting for a waiter or waiting in a queue. The main motivation here is to reduce waiting time for people who are dining out in a restaurant. It will make the environment safer, faster and the restaurant (e.g no queue, more space) will get more customers. There are many more factors... The process is simple, the customer go on this service, find the restaurants, order their food, confirm it and pre order. The order will then be sent to the restaurant through an online system which can viewed on any device. Customers don't have to move from their table. Once completed, the waiter will send the food out and validate if the pre-order is correct using a unique id number. I did gather data from people who goes to restaurants and a very big portion like the idea. Do you know any restaurants that might find it interesting? [link] [comments] |

Allocated enough for transportation spend this year? Posted: 02 Jun 2018 10:53 AM PDT Like most manufacturers and importers, your budgeting team may or may not have allocated enough for transportation spend. Fuel plus Eld Mandate plus driver shortage equals blown transportation budgets! No new hiring business dinners and excess spending for executives this year due to the overwhelming transportation costs that came as somewhat a surprise to most. Transportation experts such as myself, expect the few years to reflect the same levels of freight and capacity for the US market. Shippers and manufacturers should consult with industry leaders when budgeting for the new year in order to not sideswipe top managers with over spending on transportation cost! If you are a shipper or manufacturer I would like to hear how this has affected your budgets and operation. [link] [comments] |
