Posted: 02 May 2018 07:38 AM PDT I bought a few hundred shares as a novelty the other day, and was going to sell today due to the expected bad news tomorrow, yet it's skyrocketing right now. I plan to sell before EOD, but I'm curious if anyone knows why the sudden hike is occurring? [link] [comments] |
Reinvested all of my Capital Gains this year, got me kind of freaked out. Posted: 02 May 2018 09:11 AM PDT So I was scrolling through gainskeeper on TDA and it says I've made 33,000 this year and my current account balance is much higher than that. However I don't have 33k in actually cash... I've basically been flipping stocks all year making some gains and losses accordingly. Right now I have 10k in cash in my account and it kind of freaks me out knowing that I've made 20k more than that but it's all been put into other stocks that might take a loss. It's like I should have 30k more in the bank but I don't... Lately I've been trying to close out most of my investments that aren't long term just so I can take stock of what money I actually have. any thoughts on SMG? Dropped big today Posted: 02 May 2018 12:10 PM PDT SO they're trying to corner the market on the legal weed growing supplies. All the hydroponic buobonic stuff. They made a couple of acquisitions that seem to align with this, but numbers came in rough, and stock has tanked massively in 2018. Seems like a good tangential play on the explosion of legal weed that is here and continuing with canada going fully legal and more and more states going that route... Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Tech Gaints’ Capex Are Accelerating: Here Are The Implications Posted: 02 May 2018 06:41 PM PDT Hi all. I did an analysis of Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Facebook's CY Q1 capex vs. consensus and their historical trend. My findings are pretty interesting and raises important questions. I hope you guys enjoy it! http://zenanalyst.com/2018/04/29/tech-gaints-capex-are-accelerating-here-are-the-implications/ [link] [comments] |

Why are analysts ratings so reactionary? Posted: 02 May 2018 05:38 AM PDT This morning I got a notification from E*TRADE saying Apple hasn't been rated as buy. I looked at SmartConsensus report for Apple and they had chart on their first page showing analysts rating vs the stock performance, It's almost as if it's reactive. What's the point? That's what a simple minded investor does, buy high sell low, right? What am I missing here? [link] [comments] |
Newbie here - just bought 10 shares of Apple stock Posted: 02 May 2018 08:02 AM PDT My boyfriend is money savvy but new to the stock exchange and bought 10 shares of Apple stock. Any advice to give to someone who is new at this? Any recommendations or anything we should know? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 May 2018 07:51 AM PDT Okay, I know this might seem like a really dumb question but, for example when a stock says it's up X%, what's it comparing to. It's up X% from what? [link] [comments] |
