S&P 500 vs. pundits, year 2012 - 2018 Posted: 06 May 2018 04:19 AM PDT Graph of this issue: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DceTmy2WsAAkVMB.jpg With the end of the first quarter approaching, where are analysts most optimistic and pessimistic in terms of their ratings on stocks in the S&P 500? How have their views changed during the quarter? Overall, there are 11,094 ratings on stocks in the S&P 500. Of these 11,094 ratings, 52.2% are Buy ratings, 42.9% are Hold ratings, and 4.9% are Sell ratings. At the sector level, analysts are most optimistic on the Information Technology (60%), Health Care (59%), and Energy (59%) sectors, as these three sectors have highest percentages of Buy ratings. On the other hand, analysts are most pessimistic on the Telecom Services (33%) and Utilities (39%) sectors, as these two sectors have the lowest percentages of Buy ratings. The Telecom Services sector also has the highest percentage of Hold ratings (66%), while the Utilities sector also has the highest percentage of Sell ratings (9%). The above graph shows that stock analysts / pundits have often been wrong. Do you follow the pundits or do you analyse stocks on your own? Significant Insider Trading Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 06 May 2018 08:57 AM PDT This is a list of the top 20 companies that experienced the largest change in insider shares in the last seven (7) days. The SEC defines an insider as any officer, director or 10% shareholder. It is not illegal for these people to buy or sell their own shares. In fact, since most of them get paid in stock options, it is expected. However, it is illegal for them to trade on inside information that has not been made public. So for example if there are drug trial results that are bad and not public, insiders cannot dump shares. That said, many people have observed that insiders - in general - seem to have a good track record at timing their purchases. Largest Insider Buying (Last 7 Days)Largest Insider Selling (Last 7 Days)
Count column is number of transactions. Direct Changed columns are shares bought/sold that were held directly by the reporting person. Indirect changed are shares bought/sold that were indirectly held by the reporting person, such as those held by spouses or other family members. Posted: 06 May 2018 02:17 PM PDT This is just my analysis of BA and my thoughts for trading Monday. So, i personally like to use Fibonacci Retracements, Bollinger bands, MACD and a few other indicators. From the look of it, to me, it may have another day just like Friday depending on how the overall market is doing. Went up $5.43 total including pre-market. BA had a nice amount of volume at the end of the day. The MACD just crossed showing a sign of an upward trend. Same with the moving averages using a 6, 14, and 26 period exponential moving average are showing signs of the start of an upward trend but has not crossed yet. The Fib Retracement is already jumping up into the next percentile. Although not a hugely popular indicator, i use it and have seen it work on many occasions. Bollinger bands show the price jumped up over the center line moving average as well. I see it running up to at least the $334.90 area. If it gets past there, it may test the waters again around $335.50-336. It may pull back on one of these points mentioned be cautious and pay attention. Keep in mind, this is all based on a zoomed in, 1 day and 1 minute scale as i day and swing trade. Picture link posted below for chart. I love trading BA. It's a great, strong company and even exceeded earnings expectations this quarter as they have the last 7 quarters from what i saw. I see it growing plenty more this year as they've been steady growing over the years. As far as i can tell, there are a couple potential catalysts to include the possible UK contract over Airbus and the new KC-46A Pegasus tanker awaiting USAF approval. Both links below. Make sure that if you follow this advice to do your due diligence and research what you're getting into as this is all my own personal opinions. Let me know what y'all think and any constructive criticism is welcome. Thanks for y'all's time and happy trading! I want to trade for a living.... Posted: 05 May 2018 10:16 PM PDT Currently 19 years old. Im on track to be an engineer and I hate school. I understand I should continue for a sort of insurance for my life, however I am willing to look for any method to live a more creative self made lifestyle. I've passively invested with TDA for the past year and have had an overall positive experience. If there are any full time traders out there I have a few questions: How did you start? How can I learn? And is this a viable career? Any other advice is greatly appreciated :) [link] [comments] | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Thoughts on AAPL share prices. Posted: 06 May 2018 08:16 AM PDT Warren Buffett's investment in apple has caused the price to reach ATH. When Monday comes, will there be a massive dip/correction or will the bull run still continue? Based on past trends, a dip almost always ensues after ATH is reached. Also, over the weekends, the hype might have died down. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
