All of the financial reporting sites use long-term debt divided by total shareholder equity to get their debt-to-equity ratio for DCF valuation. For instance Activision-Blizzard (ATVI): Total Liabilities: 9255 Total Equity: 9462 Debt-to-Equity = 9255/9462 = .98 But Yahoo Finance, Investopedia, and others report it as .46, which is derived from: Long-term debt (and capital lease obligations): 4390 Total Equity: 9462 Reporting Sites Debt-to-Equity = 4390/9462 = .46. When I'm trying to unlever a beta, which do I use? [link] [comments]  |

I recently came across a report that said when project IRRs on mining projects get 1SD above the long term average, commodity prices fall significantly afterwards. That's hugely useful but so specific, and needs further research. How exactly do you organize stuff like this so when you come across something applicable, you know to pull this bit of info out?
