If you could only have 3 books on leadership what books would you choose to have for life? Posted: 31 Mar 2018 08:20 PM PDT What 3 books would cover the most important parts of leadership and everything else you would learn by a mentor or trial and error. What 3 books would you give to your children? What 3 books would you give to one of your employee's you're grooming to become a manager? My 3 books would be: The One Minute Manager by Ken Blanchard, Leadership Gold by John C Maxwell, How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie [link] [comments] |
Department of Homeland Security raided my startup, why? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 11:20 AM PDT I am an entrepreneur and a graduate of the Stanford Business School. After being unjustly imprisoned in China for 10 years, I returned to the U.S. in 2013 and started a company making gas canisters for Wal-Mart and other stores to replace Asian imports. Three years later, the Department of Homeland Security raided my company and investigated me for federal crimes carrying a minimum sentence of 10 years, all because a large American company lied to the federal government to falsely accuse me of making a counterfeit product. See my exposé of UL's highly illegal and unethical act of lying to the federal authorities and using the Department of Homeland Security as its private army to destroy American business and American jobs on behalf of its high paying Asian customers. There is a lesson to be learned here. Every entrepreneur should be mindful of the harm of illegal and unethical acts big corporation can inflict on your startup. Thank you for reading this. Please share my story with your friends. [link] [comments] |

17m looking to become and entrepreneur someday Posted: 01 Apr 2018 01:13 PM PDT How do I find places that need people to sell for them? I have a lot of connections and ways of convincing people. Is there a way to start off doing small gigs for some businesses and then just move up from there? [link] [comments] |
Transitioning from commercial production to film production Posted: 01 Apr 2018 02:02 PM PDT Hey, everyone. I'm trying to work out a strategy for a production company I'd like to start. My ultimate goal is to produce feature films. But at the moment, the simplest and most effective way to generate income for me would be to make commercials for local businesses. My plan right now is to eventually move away from commercials and focus solely on features. But I want to keep the same company name and branding. Is it common for businesses to change what they do after several years of doing one thing? Should I even bother with commercials or put all my energy into trying to scrape together money for a zero-budget feature? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Apr 2018 01:58 PM PDT In the past I've had videos go viral on youtube, but ignored messages from companies trying to license them because I wanted full control of my youtube monetization, and when I searched Reddit for posts about these companies, I found nothing but horror stories from creators who regretted signing contracts with them. Now that YouTube has cut monetization for small channels, I'm not making any money off of these videos (mostly original content nature/animal videos) so I'm interested in licensing them out. I've been contacted by Viral Hog, Caters News, Storyful, Defy Media, Rumble, etc. Does anyone have experience with these companies since YouTube changed their monetization rules? Are things more or less lucrative now for original content creators looking to license their videos? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Apr 2018 01:07 PM PDT I have an idea for a product but want to see and test a mock up before I try to order in bulk. For those of you who have created a new product to sell, how did you go from mock up to bulk order? Did you use the same company to create the mock up and the bulk order? [link] [comments] |
Can I start an e-commerce store with ~$1k (read my plan)? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 12:46 PM PDT This is all the money I have on my account and I'm willing to go all in. My plan is simple: create a single product e-commerce store, with a product which has low production costs (not more than $5) which I can preferably make at home. I buy a domain name ($10), reserve money for half a year of Shopify ($174), start an LLC in my country ($60), which is in total $244. I will buy/produce 20 units of my product, which cost like I said preferably about $5 per unit, which puts me at $100 + $224 = $334. About $50 will be spend on nice custom packaging, $100 to take nice pictures of my products, which puts me at $150 + $334 = $484. I will spend the rest of the money on FB ads, SEM and guerilla marketing. What do you guys think (of my plan)? Is it possible to start a profitable e-commerce store with about $1k? Do you guys have any tips, tricks and/or suggestions for me? Thanks for your help! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Apr 2018 11:44 AM PDT 22 & I run my own Web-Design company in my spare time. I've been in business for 3 weeks and have completed 1 project so far for a client. That client was someone I knew personally, which is great because it allowed me to add to my portfolio. However, I've approached multiple businesses in my local area via facebook and email with a proposal to create them a website. Obviously I do some market research about them beforehand to make sure they actually have a need for my services but so far out of 50-100 emails etc i've not had a single reply with interest. I don't just do the web-design side, I do SEO optimisation, management of the website for them, email/domain hosting etc etc. Is there any advice you could give me or tips to point me in the right direction when approaching new clients? Maybe a template for a successful proposal etc. Many thanks for your help. *Edit: My website is www.pavodesigns.co.uk if anyone wants to take a look :) [link] [comments] |
Canadian Business Registration - ecommerce Posted: 01 Apr 2018 11:12 AM PDT Hello! I am new to the world of ecommerce, and I was wondering if anyone from Ontario, Canada (unless it's just a canadian rule) knew if we had to register a business right away, or if there were 3 months (or what ever) that can be used before actually registering it to the government/ province? NOTE: it would be a drop shipping business. :) any help would be appreciated! cheers! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Apr 2018 09:51 AM PDT If I want to create t-shirts from images of historical figures like Einstein or Tesla, what's the legality on using images of their faces? I would be pulling the images from the web and then probably doing some photoshop to cutting them out and creating new designs. Is there a place to find public domain photos like that? Looking for Entrepreneurs/Real Estate Groups to Befriend Posted: 01 Apr 2018 12:14 PM PDT I need new friends. All the "friends" I have currently are dragging me down. I'm working at 10X levels (Read a lot of Grant Cardone Books & Self Help related books) and everyone else around me and surrounding me just isn't on the same boat. I'm in the process of getting my real estate license at Gold Coast Schools and working for Delivery Dudes 50-60 hours a week. I'm 26 years old I'm currently living at a Flop house. I'm in recovery and don't use mind altering substances. Which recovery is just one of many other things I'm working on other than school and work. I've got a lot going on but I'm willing to make time for new friends, and better opportunities. Obviously looking for a new place to stay. Don't need to be in half-way house anymore where people are constantly whining, complaining, relapsing, and don't want help or guidance. I make enough money currently to help anyone needing a room mate or anything of the sort. With all this said, I don't want anyone thinking I'm complaining. I'm bragging on myself for being the highly motivated person I am. If you can help me in anything listed above please get ahold of me via anything. Jacob McCollum Instagram, YouTube, FaceBook, SnapChat - @thatjacobkidd Message me for number. Thank y'all! Machine to make plastic packaging Posted: 01 Apr 2018 06:42 AM PDT Hello ! I don't know if i can post this here, sorry if i can't. I'd like to know if it's possible to produce your own plastic packaging for your product, with the shape you want ? Is there a machine accessible easily and easy to use ? Or does it require heavy machinery ? I'm talking about plastic packaging like this one for example : https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B074K4HS2N/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1522590103&sr=8-1-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=gel+pens&psc=1 the transparent platic part, not the black box. Thank you for your help ! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Apr 2018 06:31 AM PDT What are some good options for a physical address for an online business? I'm looking to start an ecommerce store soon, and I realise that a lot of suppliers require an address to start shipping. I don't want to supply my home address, as this would seem highly unprofessional. I can get inventory shipped directly to the post office. I was just wondering what you guys use for your 'official location' when it comes to your e commerce stores. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Mar 2018 08:28 PM PDT I'm 28 years old and started my career out of college at a decent paying job ($62k) in public accounting firm in Sacramento. But ever since I was in school and time to time I really feel like I should start my own company, sell something, or do something on my own. I feel like the time I spend at work is just a waste (except for the people I meet and few connections with clients) and it's just wasting my life working for somebody else. I really feel like I should start something. The problem is, I don't know what to do. I have a couple business ideas I jot down every time something comes into my mind. I am very profit motivated so everything I see around me I think about thing like "is this sellable and how can it be sold, or some kind of business model?" And it really excites me when I talk about those ideas. Problem is putting them into action. I am too scared to quit my job or stop working my job, and rely on my own money based on my own work instead of stream of money being direct deposited as a salary. I'm also spending significant amount of my free time in studying for my CPA exams (passed two, two more to go), so even if I wanted to put some of my business model into reality I choose to give up that time and study for my CPA instead. My thought about this is that, since I started my accounting career, let me at least get certified and be a legit professional accountant, and see if opportunities open up as I go. I am studying hard even these days but in one side of my heart I know I need to do something and start a business on my own. Also I have some credit card debt i am intensely paying off which means I don't have any money set aside. How did you get to quit your job and start your own business? Weren't you afraid of not having money to pay the rent, food, car, and all of those necessities in life? I have no support from my family as both my parents are barely supporting themselves, and no one else can really give me the funds I need to start a business. [link] [comments] |

Anyone here seen a difference in Facebook ads effectiveness since the "scandal"? Posted: 31 Mar 2018 10:07 PM PDT So I just wanted some actual insight from anyone who regularly uses fb ads or boosted posts to drive traffic. Since the whole #deletefacebook thing have any of you seen conversions or followings decrease? Or is this just another thing that will go unnoticed by the majority of people with money?
