How many apparel companies will get wiped out during the next recession?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 05:05 PM PDT

I feel like just about everyone is starting an apparel company and so many people struggle to get sales / handle the business side. How hard so you think they'll be hit during the next recession?

Advice on estimating food profits for gaming cafe

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 05:54 AM PDT

I'm in the early stages of planning a video game cafe. My big road block right now is I'm not sure how make an educated guess at what kind of profits I can make regarding the food aspect. This wouldn't be a traditional cafe model because ideally I would have patrons staying and playing video games for long hours. I would serve snacks, sandwiches, sodas, energy drinks. Any advice or tips on making a reasonable estimate for sales?

If you had to start a business working remotely, where would you start? (Looking for post)

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 09:05 AM PDT

Not sure if I'm doing this correctly but I started reading a post with a similar title yesterday and I can't find it. The first response was from a gentleman selling services related to divorce.

    All help is appreciated!

Edit #1 Thanks all for your input. I'm actually trying to find a thread from a day or two ago.

Someone from a previous thread mentioned a strategy that I'm hoping to find. I'll try to summarize below. If the strategy I describe below sounds familiar, any help with it would be super helpful.

The redditer said that he worked remotely because he focused on a niche, for his service it was divorce. He created something for people to purchase, e.g. self help memo. When the divorcee was signing out he then asked if they wanted to purchase something additional for a steep one time discount, e.g. self help divorce cards. After the divorce signs up, he then sends them an email where they can purchase an affiliates product to support his products.

Does anyone recognize this type of marking or ecommerce sales tactic? I want to know more and I thought I'd come back to the source.

Be careful of online ordering companies who take control of your google business page without your permission.

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 06:35 PM PDT

I own a digital marketing firm and I see some clients getting unverified by google because the online ordering companies will create a new business page without the need for verification.

This is of course bullshit, but if this happened to you, immediately contact your online ordering company and demand back ownership.

This is a big leverage because we all know how often we look for things on google including reviews and information which sucks if you don't have control.

I have my product, I have a huge market for my product, but I'm having trouble getting my foot in the door.

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 08:54 PM PDT

I built an application similar to Uber, but for handymen. I know the business model works great, because I worked for a similar company when I lived in Seattle. I have since moved to Hawaii where the work is non stop, but I just can't seem to break through to anyone.

My very limited advertising budget of course plays a part in this, but Hawaii is extremely expensive. So I don't have that much extra cash to through into advertising. I have gone door to door to almost every property manager within a 10 mile radius of me and got 1 call back, which didn't even lead to a job.

To be honest, I am not a salesman. I hate sales, I'm not good at it and I'd prefer to have someone else do it. But like I said, I can't afford to hire a salesman. Ideally I would love to find a partner to help get this off the ground and possibly help with sales. Where do you meet such a person? Can it be a salesman? Should it be a salesman? Should I look into hiring a consultant? I just don't have any direction at this point and would love some feedback from some seasoned pro's.

    Record sales month!

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 08:27 PM PDT

I opened a unique business last year with 2 friends. One partner and I made the hard decision to fire the other friend (not on the LLC). There was a lot of trash talking online about us for a week or two but here we are one month later and sales are up 3%. We just beat our record month of December.

It's amazing and scary to see how one person can negatively affect your business.

Thanks for letting me brag for a second.

    Wanting to change businesses.

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 07:53 PM PDT

Currently I have a marketing company and I've been running it for 4 years. I am tired of it. I love outdoors and nature. I hate being behind a computer all day.

I want to start a outdoor equipment rental company, like canoes, kayaks, tents ,etc. Is this a viable transition? Any pitfalls or things I should consider? Any advice I would love.

Seriously, I don't want to be 50 and explaining website and AdWords to people. I would love to promote and encourage people to get outdoors.

Looking For Advice On Resturant Financing

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 01:53 PM PDT

I've been looking into starting my own restaurant and am looking for a bit of advice. I have a 720 credit score but little in the way of my own startup funds. (I work two part-time jobs) Would a score that high be enough for a decent loan? (I do have some collateral, I own my own car for example.) Also, I do have some outstanding student loans but I am led to believe that those will not hinder a business loan in the same way it would say a home loan. I want to say thanks in advance and any advice at all would be great.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I appreciate it.

Small Business Owners, for Commercial Awareness, would you like to know how much your local competitors make?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 10:58 AM PDT

This is an idea running through my mind and I wanted to see what you all thought.

My company would aggregate your specific industry's local metro area's business data through surveys (other members of the service).

All data is private, we will analyze the data and provide you with quarterly(more or less) local industry averages (+/- outliers), answers to questions that you wanted to ask other owners, etc.

    Think Localized industry Magazine

Why would anybody use this service and not lie?

There is no incentive to lie, data is anonymous, and no questions will be approved that will intercept business from one another. Lying will only mess up the data you receive.

    Delivery Method: Email PDF

Price: Free, pay to ask questions (Still a little fuzzy there)

Open to your thoughts and opinions, we already have a metro area to work in. Also would love to know an industry you think we should target first!

Business ideas for corporates and startups

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 05:13 AM PDT

    Hello,

I have been considering to start a side business that I could potentially develop into a full time job. At the moment there lot of large/international corporates that are expanding and/or outsourcing their business in my city by building new shared service facilities etc. Also many start ups are branching out also in my city due to smaller operating/administrative costs and government being attractive with their regulations. I think there are some business opportunities here and I wanted to as you guys what small business you could build around that? I have been thinking about starting a photo booth and social media hashtag printer business with which I could focus on those corporate events and social media engagement. What else you would include in this business? Maybe something like live event streaming with drone?

What other type of businesses can you think of?

Looking forward to your suggestions fellows.

Questions about patent or copyright for design while at university.

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 10:59 AM PDT

I'm wanting to work on a product idea I've had for awhile this fall while attending a group project based class.

I mostly just don't want some company/patent troll to find it and would rather make it into a DIY openware thing. Though it may have the chance to make a lot of money.

Is the any general advice to keep the design safe?

Help consolidating Delaware state tax fees/closing down my 2 LLC's and C-Corp?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 10:23 AM PDT

    Hi,

I have 3 LLC's that have unfortunately accrued franchise tax fees upwards of $3,000 since 2011. None of them have any revenue and I'd just like to clear out those accounts and be done with them.

Advisory says Delaware likely won't try to collect on their fees but I'm just curious if there are services/debt management services that help negotiate with the government to reduce payments to be reasonable? I'd just like to not be associated with these entities anymore.

I'm guessing there's gotta be some service out there that does this sort of stuff since I found one pretty easily to help me consolidate my credit card debt with almost no interest.

    Thanks

Advertising on FB and Google adwords

    Posted: 30 Mar 2018 10:48 PM PDT

Is it just me or do you find advertising in Google AdWords and Facebook very expensive? I am doing this for the first time so maybe I am not doing this right but I find the cost of customer acquisition through these means prohibitively expensive.
