    Wanted to share something that might help you in prospecting. Context: I prospect F500 execs in Marketing/Product.

    For my first ever touch with a prospect, I'll cold-call them. If they answer, great! If not, I'll leave my typical voicemail personalized to them, and end with "I'll send you further info in a email now."

    Then, I send them an email with the subject line "NAME, per my vm" and the relevant info I'm trying to get them with my ask for a 30min call at the end. This is usually 5-6 sentences.

    Then, I immediately request them on LinkedIn with a custom note saying I reached out to their office and would like to connect.

    This is time consuming, and it doesn't necessarily turn 'No' into 'Yes', but it gets me answers! Even something as simple as being pointed in the right direction is monumental. And a 'No' allows me to turn my focus to those who will say 'Yes.'

    So hit them in every channel (politely), that way they can't ignore you :)

    6months in and not doing great.

    I have always worked in sales and consider myself a decent sales person. However 6 months ago i decided to try my jand out at outdoor sales and work for a billboard advertising company. I am not getting the results i figured i would be getting 6 months in. I feel like i cold call all day and do not get call backs or any interest in advertising via billboards. At this point im lost and looking for any help.

    From AE to SDR, how can i dominate in my new role?

    Long story short we went through a re-org at my company.

    I was on the AE team and was moved over to our newly formed AD/SDR team because I had the highest engagement metrics out of my peers. While I was initially upset after a few days I'm ready to embrace the new role and kick some ass!

    Just a few questions:

    1) Are there any good books or podcasts you'd recommend? We will be trying to build this group up from the ground and I want to contribute to that process.

    2) How the hell can I tell myself to slow down? I'm used to selling the SaaS service that I will now be qualifying, converting to an oppty and passing to the AE. This is going to be hard for me since I'm a sales guy at heart here LOL. Any advice on this?

    Also, am I right in thinking that as a SDR my convos should be pretty short sweet and to the point? My goal is to basically sell an appt w/ an AE so I need to find the pain, get the DM to acknowledge said pain, and get them to an AE right?

    Who do i contact within the company? Shall i use LinkedIn to begin communication? What should the first email/message contain?

    Need advice on selling IT consultancy services for B2B strategy

    Good day! Here's the thing: I recently joined a new startup company based in Miami offering IT consultancy services (DevOps and Cloud Engineering) and my current role aims to get new leads/prospects to offer our services.

    Since I'm new on this endeavor, would like to ask to the experts here for good tips of advice on how to (or where to) look or get contact leads to send emails or craft sell strategies using any of the CRM tools around there.

    Wrapping up - my current scenario is that I need to have prospects or tools to populate my agenda.

    Worst Rejection I've ever faced or the story of how everything is going to be alright.

    So, here I am, it's Sunday evening, and I got rejected for the job of a Sales Manager I've been thinking about for the last two years.

    It hurts, not because I did not get the job, but it hurts because I know I could do this job better than anyone else, and because the final decision maker had something personal against me.

    I've been grinding at this job for last two years, I was thinking only about the business and aside from producing best results myself, I was always acting about my next role, helping everyone around me to become better, and I enjoyed it and with my help we closed some crazy deals.

    God, I'm sad not because I did't get the position, I was thinking about moving on from the organization myself, however when the guy told me why he didn't choose me, it was along the lines like "you were not passionate enough about this job", and I freaking was, I've told management during each Quarterly Business Review that my next step is being a Manager. I was also the only one, who had solid 30-60-90 days plan and it was solid because it was based on my knowledge of the team and current business situation. The guy that was given the role came from outside 2 months ago and has a relationship with a DM.

    Now the worst thing is the damn pity. Everybody thinks that I need it, but I don't, and that what makes me so mad.

    I thought to share this with guys, who would understand. Life is full of injustice and unfairness and sales is the epitome of this concept: we're not saving lives, however I believe the amount of unfairness that we face and the career that we've chosen is hard and it is painful and will be. But the reward is 100x more.

    But I am not going to break and I wanted to say to you guys, that if you face rejection, unfairness, it's been shitty day, week, month, quarter or a year, you could always overcome it. Because you can. There is so much strength inside each one of you and I strongly believe that you could reach anything, just never never never give up.

    Hoping to transition to medical device sales, seeking some advice.

    Background: I worked 10+ years in a for profit college recruiter/enrollment role. It certainly was a sales position but due to the reputation of the company and government regulation, it was made to NOT look like a sales job as much as possible. Since there was no commissions and very little reward using traditional sale smetrics, I seem very hard to "sell" this position as a sales role like other industries to potential employers. There was a large lay off 2 years ago which I was included.

    Based on a friends recommendation, I then took a door to door sales job with a cable company. I needed a kick in the butt to see if sales was still what I wanted and there was a opportunity to quickly make good money. I never intended to make this a career, but hoped to use this as a stable job until I found something more in line with my goals. Well, 9 months in, there was a mass lay off and I was included.

    I did do B2B sales for over a decade, but given it was 15+ years ago, I can't see it being relevant to an employer.

    Now, I hoping to refocus on a career on health care sales. I realize I may need to take a entry level position and I'm ok with that as long I see a path to growth within the company or use that to jump to another employer within 1-2 years. I'm hoping to represent a physical product or facility as opposed to insurance or something.

    Ok, here my questions....

    The decade or so has been B2C, would a health care related B2C sales job now help to transition to a B2B sales job in healthcare later? Or given my goals, should I try to avoid B2C for now?

    I prefer outside sales. If a outside health care sale role does not happen now, I can do and have done inside sales. Given my long term goal, would a entry level inside healthcare sales job help to transition to a outside role late in health care OR should I look for a outside sales position now (in any B2B field) and try to transition back to health care later?

    Do you recommend listing my B2B experience on a resume given it's age (15 years ago)?

    Due to lack of direct health care experience, is there any other aspects to highlight on a resume,cover letter, etc...to help stand out?

    Stay in retail or go to B2B in diff industry

    I'm a retail store manager at a wireless carrier. I make good money and job has its days, like any other job... retail hours suck though.

    I've been offered a position by one of my old bosses doing B2B outside sales "account manager" for a big propane company. Would have protected territory, nice company car, gas card, phone, and laptop. Work from home 1 day a week. 8-5 and no weekends. Pay is $32k base + commission w a high 6 figure potential. Will probably take a pay cut first 1-2 years while I establish myself.

    I want to leave retail. I am confident in my sales abilities, just don't wanna commit career suicide. Is this a smart move? Has anyone done it or something similar before? I am very torn but leaning towards taking the leap. Any advice appreciated.

    Sorry for the weekly should I leave my job post. But I was hoping you guys could gave some insight into my next career move.

    My current role is saas sdr selling LMS/RMs and my boss is a cool but a complete idiot that doesnt know how to sell shit. Currently getting screwed over on mql leads/warm leads just found out in my department one SDR is getting about 86% of all MQL leads assigned to her and I am getting about 4% from our sfdc admin. I had feeling this was case becauses none of her appts have ever been from outbound prospecting(85% of my meetings are outbound leads). With that said we still get paid the same for all meetings and she is killing her quota while I am struggling to get by and getting paid shit. I have already complained to my boss about this and our marketing and sf admins have menitoned this to her as well. I know I can probably get a role at another company with better pay as an sdr but I have only about 6months in this role currently and have 8months as an SDR at prior company before I was laid off(I absolutley killed it thwhen I was there but they decided to lay off all of their new SDRa).

    So 1+ yr totally expereince as SDR but about 3 year in total for sales(1yr in re agent and 1.5 years for running sales for a startup I helped co found(not successful thus far tho lol). I don't wanna be an SDR forever and would like to transition asap to AE position but at the same time I know job hopping looks bad especially if its 3 jobs in last 2 years.

    Sorry for wall of text and thanks for you guys help in advance!

    Spin Selling with Multiple Services and Mock sales calls

    Hi all, I'm practicing the Spin model and was hoping to get some advice. Our company (startup) provides a number of different HR services (B2B SaaS). Given the variety of our services (and recognizing it will depend on the flow of actual client conversations), would it be better to go through the problem questions that relate to all of our services before turning to the implication questions or would it better to go through the problem and implication questions for a single service before going through the P and I questions for another of our services?

    Also, any experts interested in doing mock sales calls? Would he happy to pay! :)

    When to explore other opportunities?

    I transitioned from retail sales management to B2B sales two years ago. I took a position as a sales rep with a uniform company and was promoted to manager less than a year after starting. I've been at my new location a little over a year and am ranked in the top 20 company locations and first in my region. I love what I do, my team, my location, and could be sending one of my reps to our Presidents Club this year, maybe even myself.

    Even with my performance, it's going to be a long shot for me to break six figures. Being 115% to quota, I would still fall short, and fewer than 10% of managers end above 100%. My only shot at higher potential would be relocating to a larger location (but I Love where I live) or getting promoted and spending 50% of my time travelling away from my family.

    I've been receiving messages from recruiters on LinkedIn and have been politely declining. I'm starting to wonder if maybe I'm being short sighted.

    Am I being ridiculous for not entertaining interviews?? At what point do you recommend looking elsewhere? Should I wait it out and begin looking when I am really ready? Is there a polite way to say "I'll talk to you, but I'm not sure I'll leave where I am at."?

    Any advice???

    For those in SaaS: How often will future employers call your manager before deciding whether or not to extend the offer?

    So I am in a tricky spot here to where I am one of the best performers on the team but at the same time, boss really doesn't want me to leave my current role. I don't enjoy it much and the relationship with my boss isn't great at all, a big personality mismatch along with a host of other things.

    If I interview and the company I interview for does a background check, how often will they personally be calling my manager to determine whether or not they should hire me?

    I am afraid if they did, it won't work to my favor as I have not told my boss that I am leaving yet.

    Likely going to give 2 week notice in toxic environment and to manager who is the scheming sadistic type. Any last words of advice and things I should be weary of?

    I have been at my current workplace for a little over a year and been job hunting for the past 3 months, promising news is coming. Now I don't have a job offer in hand but I am at a point now where I am thinking of quitting anyways without a job offer because of how toxic the workplace culture is.

    Racism (in this case "reverse racism" since I was singled out often for being the only white guy on the team), sexism, endless gossip, ridicule in public, extreme nepotism, and at times the boss working to actively undermine and limit my career to limit me are what have happened. I have put up strong numbers only for the boss to promote people he sees as "family" and undermine me.

    Now I know they say don't burn bridges but I already see it playing out as the manager resorting to insults and all sorts of dirty tricks to stop me, as well as aggressive probing.

    Any last words of advice or things I should be weary of when going forth with moving on from a toxic environment?
