Thanks for your help and for pointing me in the right direction.

My sister and I contacted the state department, the embassy and the consulate in Karachi. They were able to verify that she exists and she's a US citizen. We told them of what's happening to her and they were quite helpful in telling us what to do and being ready to help her as soon as possible.

The challenge was getting her into the consulate in Karachi but she actually got herself there (took weeks of planning) where they gave her travel documents to be able to come to the US. We bought tickets for her to go from Karachi to Doha and then to Boston where we picket her up from the airport.

By the time her parents realized what's what she was on the Doha to Boston flight. Her parents tried to apply for a visa to come to the US but their visa applications were refused. I'm not aware if the people at the embassy who refused it actually knew about my cousin's supituation or not but we're glad they weren't able to come here.

She currently lives with me and my sister and my sister has been granted guardianship over her. Her priority is to learn English.

Her parents still try to somehow make her return but we've closed down the lines of communication and hopefully her life from now on will be stress-free.

[UPDATE](Washington) My Ex was harassing me, I recorded everything and gave it to police. He told me it was against the law to record him without his consent. Help?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2018 05:45 PM PST

Hey guys, I know you like updates so I have an awesome one for you :). My ex-boyfriend was arrested, he was charged with harrasment. He was denied bail and got sentenced to 60 days in jail for contempt of court (I would pay anything to see that). I have talked to the prosecutor, I will have to testify so that sucks, but prosecutor said he won't settle for anything less than prison time. I also asked him about the recordings and he laughed and said I don't have to worry about that, it wasn't illegal.

[Update] Neighbors feel entitled to our driveway

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 11:26 AM PST

This is an update post to the neighbors who have been knocking down our garbage cans and get snotty when we park on the grass.

Still in Florida for the location bot.

We put up a nightvision camera to cover the part of the yard where the trashcans go. We also put up a curtain in the kitchen window which faces the trashcan area and I just sat in the kitchen and watched.

We did not expect the results we got.

It turned out that the mail truck has been knocking the trash cans down into the ditch. The mail woman drives up and down the street, from mailbox to mailbox, and we were putting the cans in line with the mailbox. The mail lady comes by, and down the cans go. Yes, I feel very stupid now. We tried experimenting with putting them in a section of the lawn that is free of mailboxes and not had any cans go down after that.

I also talked to some of the people who have lived here in our neighborhood the longest, and learned that the 10-15 feet of our yard closest to the road is actually a public easement (and on the other side of the road as well). I really had no idea about that, as the real estate agent never told us that and I don't remember seeing it in the mortgage documents. But I talked to a man at the county offices and he basically confirmed that and said it was because the road graders used to go through and smooth out the ruts every now and again and they don't want to deal with pavement (our driveways aren't paved). They actually paved our stretch of the road late last summer and he said they're going to update the codes or whatever so not sure if that land will revert to being ours or not.

Anyway, I wanted to let LA know that it has all been resolved due to a huge misunderstanding.

My sister believes her daughter to be a victim of medical kidnapping

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 07:18 AM PST

One of my sisters who lives in Missouri has a daughter in the hospital and the hospital is not only refusing to heed the requests of my sister and her husband with regards to certain treatments, but the hospital has actually threatened to get child protective services involved.

My sister's daughter has severe asthma and allergies and food sensitivities. So, for example, they're feeding her through a feeding tube and one of the ingredients of the formula is soy which she is sensitive to. My sister asked that they use a hypoallergenic formula but the hospital dietician refused saying that hypoallergenic formulas are pediatric and that she is too old or big or something like that for them. The hospital is also refusing to acknowledge symptoms that my sister's daughter is stating she has. It goes on and on.

My sister believes that they are victims of "medical kidnapping".

What is someone in her situation supposed to do?

We recently found out a bar-restaurant has been stealing from our water source. The flat owners want us to pay part of that bill, is this right?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 05:28 AM PST

So me and a friend have been living in a flat since September. It is a rented flat and it is in Barcelona, Spain.

So we just recently got a 200€ bill for water consumption and after checking for water leaks we found a hose connected to our main supplier system. We let the flat owners (a company) handle the situation.

Now they want us to pay a third of the bill since they disconnected the hose 20 days before the bill came. Which makes for 40 days connected. We will have to pay around 70€.

So is this ok? Should we pay it or the bill has already been compromised and we shouldn't pay anything at all as my flatmate says?

Neighbor has a garage that's half on my property.

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 07:11 AM PST

Indiana First, I checked my property lines on https://beacon.schneidercorp.com/ They seem to be very accurate according to other property lines in my town. There is a "No Parking" sign in our front yard that appears to be in line with the property line on the website.

    Here's a sketch of my property https://imgur.com/jwMpm5q

How could they have got away with that when it was built? Will it be a negative factor when I try selling? Am I responsible for what is on my half of their garage? Am I eligible for compensation? Could I loose ownership of that land due to squatters rights?

My friend's wife is threatening to call DCFS on my wife and I

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 07:52 AM PST

My friend of over 10 years got married to a woman about 3 years ago because they had a baby. Before he met her, we'd hang out all the time. After he met her, none of his friends see him anymore and she gets irate every time he goes over to someone else's house. I only see him when they're having problems and he needs to vent. So he came over last night and had a beer, smoked one hitter, and went home around 10:30. At 10:50 my doorbell starts ringing constantly and there's pounding on my front door. Keep in mind I have two kids that are sleeping and a wife, all of whom need to get up for school and work in the morning. It's my friend's wife. She starts yelling at me calling me names like loser, horrible parent, Etc. Says that if this ever happens again she was going to call DCFS on me (because of the pot im assuming). Super drama queen. My question is what kind of problems can she cause from simple accusations and what can I do to protect myself? I am in Illinois and I'm pretty sure that in order to get a restraining order the problem has to occur more than once. Thank you for any help you can give

[MA] Employer wants us to clean during unpaid downtime. Instead, work for points to redeem merchandise!

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 03:02 AM PST

TLDR at the bottom. I work for a brand new (opened in January) gym that recently opened in my area. I am a group fitness instructor.

We have very confusing pay rates due to being instructors. We are to show up 15 minutes prior to class beginning and stay 15 minutes after class finishes. For the pre- and post- class time, we are paid Rate A. We get paid a much larger rate for the hour we are teaching our class, Rate B.

Issue one is that when we began, if no one came to our classes (as a new gym this obviously happens until we gain clientele and such) we were still paid for our full pre-class rate, class rate, and post-class rate. Since we had downtime, many instructors used this time to do workout plans, clean the studio and equipment, and general maintenance stuff.

About four weeks ago, the owner decided he could no longer pay us for classes with no attendance. So if no one shows for a class we now only get paid Rate A for 30 minutes. We are to be connecting with gym members or clean/plan during our 30 minutes and the we can leave. The issue really arises when we have multiple classes in a row.

The owner has implemented a "points system". If we are at the gym and have downtime (whether it be during Rate A times or the downtime we have where we aren't being paid) we can clean/maintenance and earn "points" to redeem gym merchandise (t-shirts, jackets, workout pants, etc). But we do not get paid any rate during this time.

If we were getting paid Rate A and also accumulated points, I would think it would be an interesting way to get us to clean and do the things no one really wants to be responsible for. But I will obviously not be working off the clock to earn "points".

This is a very small, one location gym. We have an owner, two managers, and then our regular staff. There are only about 15-20 people working for us. There is no HR or anything.

This all seems very wrong to me, and I'm not sure how to react without the owner getting upset with me or whatnot. Do I just do my normal job, clean on the clock, and let everyone else just react to this how they want? Or should I contact someone about this?

TLDR; Boss would really enjoy it if we could clean off the clock during downtime. We won't get paid. But instead we accumulate "points" we can redeem for merchandise.

EDIT FOR MORE INFO: I am an employee of this gym. Not a contractor like many group fitness instructors. I have a set schedule that I teach weekly that does not change.

[MO] Denied to a state school because I went to meetings of a socialist organization.

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 10:27 AM PST

I've been applying to graduate schools for my masters. A friend of mine works at a state school in Missouri (to be unnamed) and works in the admissions department of the graduate school.

So I applied and was denied. This friend showed me an email where they said that they "didn't feel comfortable having socialists at our school."

They saw my twitter which showed me being tagged in a few posts by a local worker rights info sessions hosted by a DSA chapter. I have a copy of this email.

Is there anything I can do? I'm starting to think that I'm being denied from other schools based on my political beliefs.

Iowa Real Estate: Bought a home from flippers who didn't pull permits

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 07:30 AM PST

I bought a home 8 months ago that was brand new inside. It appeared to be remodeled down to the studs. The seller was a flipping company, they do this all over town. Now I'm having huge issues:

    1. New HVAC ducts were installed wrong. 6" ducts were downsized to 4" ducts. I know that the previous owners did it because they are brand new, shiny with stickers from the store. This was not permitted, or disclosed. $4,000 to replace ductwork. Not caught on inspection.
    2. TWO load bearing walls were removed and supported with posts in the basement. Posts weren't installed correctly: No concrete footings, and in some cases not even underneath the joists. (Next to and screwed in) Structural Engineer estimates that my first floor has dropped 3-4inches in the 8 months I've been here. $15,000 to jack up the house, add new beams and supports.

    3. Stairs to the basement weren't supported. At risk of falling soon. No quote for this yet.

There are many other code violations that I haven't dug into yet. It is obvious that this wasn't done with a permit. I called the permit office and the only thing they pulled for was foundation work. Checking my disclosure sheet:

    1. HVAC was not disclosed
    2. New Plumbing was done
    3. New Electical was done
    4. New Foundation wall was done
    5. Any settling issues: no
    6. Any structural issues: yes

Do I have any legal recourse? Sorry for the novel. I have plenty of information, I just didn't know how much to add here.

Edit: all the work was done by the previous owner. They are shown as the contractor on the foundation permit they did pull, and neighbors have said that it was the same work trucks there during the entire remodel.

(NEW YORK) I was pulled over for "improper cell phone use", had proof that I wasn't on it, went to court and lost. I need advice on an appeal or else I'd have to pay over $500...

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 09:22 AM PST

So the short of this is I was driving to a friends house and on the way I was pulled over, the cop said I was on my phone but I wasn't, his words we're "You had the phone up to your ear", implying that I was making a phone call. I tried to show him my call history but he gave me a ticket and told me to fight it in court.

I gathered a TON of evidence. Screenshots from my phone showing the call history in detail (which showed I wasn't on the phone in the time window of the incident), I did the same for my texts, I also went to my cell carrier's website and downloaded an excel spreadsheet of my cell usage for the entire month and highlighted all uses for the time window, I even printed out a page from my car manual saying my car had bluetooth audio so even if I was on the phone, it would have been routed through the car, and finally a google maps screenshot of my driving route to show how long it took me to drive there (to prove my timestamps in my case).

I went to traffic court feeling very confident. I couldn't afford a lawyer because the one I asked wanted $550 to represent me in court. I thought I had enough proof to win this case alone but apparently with all that evidence and a clear case, the judge ruled in favor of the officer.

I'm now stuck with 5 points on my license (new york does this, not sure if other states do), a $168 fine for the cell phone ticket and a $550 driver assessment which is from having a prior speeding ticket.

The court told me I can appeal the decision but I'm not sure what else I can do, can I hire a lawyer for the appeal? I can include more evidence (such as the weather, it was raining that day and maybe the cop didn't see things right?) but i'm not even sure the appeal's board will look at it. I have to submit this appeal by March 16th the absolute latest but I want to send it out this week, I also have to pay these fines regardless but they will refund me for everything if my case is dismissed.

Currently, I have the appeal form and all my evidence but I'm scared and I don't know where to go anymore, should I do this through a lawyer? I can't have these fines, I can't afford them and it's going to add to my credit card debt until hopefully it gets ruled in my favor and they pay me back. Anyone from NY have advice?

Guest of tenant staying in playhouse after tenants have left. (Florida)

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 06:30 AM PST

My father is a landlord in Florida. One of his properties is a house that had a small playhouse out back.

Apparently a former tenant started letting someone stay there and use the bathroom in the house. (Without landlords knowledge)

The tenants have left but the guest is refusing to leave.

Since this person was never on the lease, nor allowed by the landlord to stay, and isn't staying in anything that is an actual domicile does he have any rights to stay, does there need to be a formal eviction, or can the landlord just call the police and have him removed?

I dont have the money anymore and b. she can easily unlock the phone to make it compatible with her carrier I really dont know what to say to her. Seller of a motorcycle sold me a bike with a bad title, hes now saying he never sold me the bike because his name isnt on the title, do I have grounds for restitution?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 08:46 AM PST

Last Thursday I bought my first motorcycle, or vehicle in general. After getting insurance I went to the county tag office to get my tag and was told the title was invalid and to contact the seller because they would need to get a new title.

Everything seemed correct on the title, the VIN matched up, they said they've had the bike for a little over a year which makes sense because the title was dated for 2016, however on the part of the title (front) where it says release of lien or security interest there's white out over the date and a 2016 date over the white out. Because of this the county tag office said the title was invalid.

I called the seller right after and he told me I'd need to speak to an other guy ((whos name is apparently on the title)) but I refused because I was told to contact the seller, then he told me he's not the seller because his name isn't on the title and he'd call me back after speaking to the guy who's name was on the title. However, this guy didn't make that clear when I was buying the bike, I was under the impression he was selling the vehicle after all he was the guy who accepted the money.

This is my first major purchase, at the time it didn't seem off everything seemed on the up and up but now everything just seems sketchy, is this fraud?

Edit: I live in north GA outside the Atlanta area, the seller wants me to go to a financial institution and do a bond on the title. Is that okay?

American Disabilities Act violation at my apartment complex

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 06:47 AM PST

    Location: Atlanta, Georgia

I have a neighbor who lives downstairs who requires a wheelchair to get around. The curb to get from the parking lot to the sidewalk of our apartment was sloped but it was too steep and would require some speed to get up and not in a smooth way.

So after living at the apartment for a year and a half, the complex finally is getting the ramp up to code but they didn't tell the neighbor downstairs they were going to do it this past Saturday morning. This is his only entrance/exit that doesn't require stairs so he's essentially been stuck in his apartment for the past 3 days (including work this morning).

Luckily, he lives with his girlfriend so it's not like he's been without food or anything but it still ruined plans they had made for Saturday and his work plans this morning. Did our apartment complex violate any sort of code?

House given to ex-wife in divorce settlement and it is negatively affecting my credit.

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 09:43 AM PST

I am in Austin, TX. First time posting to Reddit so please forgive. I got divorced 2yrs ago and I gave my ex-wife our home in the divorce. She told me she would refinance within 1yr so that my name would be off the loan. I have been working diligently for the past year to pay off a tremendous amount of debt to improve my credit score. To my great disappointment my name is still on the mortgage. She has yet to refinance and continues to be late on payments. Every time she's late on a payment I get a credit report notice that my credit score has changed.

Do I have any reprieve? I feel like I will be perpetually stuck renting because no one is going to give me a home loan based on these perpetual late payments. It is very disheartening to make leaps and bounds on paying off my debt and still continue to get bad credit score alerts every few months. I'm just wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences and if so do you have suggestions.

Landlord says there was a typo in my rent amount and wants me to pay the difference plus late fees, can they do this?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 11:44 AM PST

I am renting a modular home (house without wheels in a trailer park ) in rural New York. My 1 year lease expired over a year ago and I received no response from the landlords about a new rental agreement, so I continued sending the same monthly payment without issue.

In April the landlords sold the property to a new management group in a different city, and I continued to send the same amount of money ($575) to the new landlords.

In November the new landlords sent out a new rental agreement which looked pretty normal, except the final page had 2 different places to sign: one for a 1 year lease at the aforementioned $575/month, and a "Month to Month Option" which said

I/We do not wish to have a one year lease at this time and would prefer to be month to month tenants. The monthly rent will be $445.00. All other terms of the lease will remain in effect. I/we understand that in the event I/we choose to vacate the unit we will provide Landlord with no less than 30 days written notice.

I signed and dated the agreement on the month-to-month line for less money, mailed it back, and they signed it and returned it to me.

Now they are asking me to pay the difference between the original amount ($130) plus an additional $50 late fee. When I sent them a photo of their signed rental agreement, they said "It appears that there was a typo on the lease renewal. The month to month renewal should have been the same amount as the 1 year renewal., which was $575 not $445."

Does this count as a typo? Can they just say oops we totally meant to charge you more money? I am literally as poor as you can be in this country while being employed (minimum wage fast food worker, 30 hours/week, no car) and the extra $130/month would really make a huge difference.

Can I tell them to pound sand, or will I get evicted?

(also the rental agreement says they are supposed to be paying my gas bill, and they do not; I pay all my own bills. Is this something I can ask for reimbursement about?)

My parents have custody of my son, do I have any legal standing to win custody back?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 08:01 AM PST

Disclaimer: Please excuse my ignorance regarding legal terms.

Let me start at the very beginning of this complicated situation. I will try to include as much detail as I can. In 2008, I was 16 years old when my ex-girlfriend gave birth to our son. Now I must admit, we did not know she was pregnant, and if my ex did know, she certainly kept it from me. She was already overweight, so I just assumed she was gaining more weight, in addition to the fact that my son was born premature. One day, my ex didn't show up to school without warning, and I was worrying all day since I didn't hear from her, and next thing I knew, I was receiving a call from a hospital phone saying that I was a father. As you can imagine, it was quite a shock to me. We both come from very strict (and borderline abusive) Filipino families. Her parents originally wanted her to put the baby up for adoption and for me to never find out, but she couldn't bear to keep it from me, and I eventually told my parents that same night. That night, my father and I decided that the best option would be to put the baby up for adoption, but once my ex sent me a picture of my son, we realized that we couldn't let him go, and lose him to another family.

The very next day, my parents and I decided that what would be best for me and my son would be for them to adopt him. This way, I could attend college and earn a degree without having to take care of a child on my own. They got a lawyer, and although my ex originally disagreed with this decision (she still wanted to put him up for adoption, but with people we didn't personally know), she eventually agreed. We signed the paperwork, and my parents became my son's legal parents. At this point, I would like to add that at the time of signing my rights away as his parent and my son being adopted by my parents, I was 16 years old, and I believed that when I were to come of age, and establish myself as a functioning member of society, that I'd be able to re-adopt my son. I was apparently very naive.

I am now 26 years old. I am married, own a home, and work full time for the Department of The Navy. Although there are not set visiting rights, my ex-girlfriend probably visits our son two times a year. I however, lived with my parents and my son all the way up to the point that I purchased a house and got married 6 months ago. Over the past ten years, I have been in a constant struggle with my parents regarding how to raise my son. There have been many occasions where we have argued over the custody of my son. I have always backed off because my parents constantly threaten me by saying they won't let me see him anymore. That is literally the last thing that I want. Although it has only ever been a threat to take them to court, I believe that I am finally ready to take that step, and fight to adopt my son back from my parents.

Now, I know that the fact that they adopted him and I signed my rights away doesn't really give me any legal standing to win this in court, but I believe that I may have some evidence that may help my case. First of all, when I was 16 years old and signing my rights away to my son, I did not know at the time that I would not be able to re-adopt of my son. Had I known that, I would have never signed that paper. Also, over the past four years, as I have seriously began to consider legal action, I have been collecting evidence of the emotional, mental, and sometimes physical abuse of both me and my son from my parents. For example, one day I was playing outside with my son. We went inside because we were all sweaty. My father threw a TV remote at my son because he was mad that he got sweaty. I took a picture of my son's back with the imprint of the remote. Another time, my father threw a printer at me because he got mad that I didn't fix it for him in the amount of time that he thought appropriate. Over the years, they threaten me with constant emotional blackmail, like they would say that they wouldn't let me see my son unless I came home from my girlfriend's house during a date. Any time they tried to blackmail me through text, I saved the messages. Can things like this even hold up in court?

I am forever grateful that my parents agreed to take my son in and raise him. That boy is literally all I live for, and I do not want to ever imagine a life without him. That being said, I am done with the emotional manipulation and emotional abuse of my parents. I want to take my son out of that toxic environment, and give him the happy life that he deserves. If you got this far, I thank you for reading. Any help and information you guys have is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions regarding anything, please feel free to reach out.

TL:DR : Gave up my son for adoption to my parents at 16. Thought I could adopt him back when I became an adult. They do not want to give my son back. They are mentally and emotionally abusive. Do I have a shot in court?

Edit: I live in New Jersey. The bot told me to put my location.

My mother hid my jury duty notice

My mother told me over the weekend that I got a letter for jury duty weeks ago, but she didn't give it to me, and now she can't find it.

I'm very nervous because I know there's a hefty fine, or even possible jail time for missing jury duty. I plan to call the courthouse on Monday and explain the situation. I live in New Mexico, so I need to know if that would be a valid excuse, or if there are any other steps I could take to correct this situation.

I plan to get a P.O. box very soon, and I know mail tampering is a pretty serious crime but I don't want to bring any legal action against my mother. I can't afford to live anywhere else, and I don't want this to turn into a huge issue and possibly get kicked out.

At this point I'm mostly just worried about any possible punishments for missing jury duty.

Just found out my 11 year old cousin has racked up a £300 bill on my card for his online gaming account - what do I do?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 12:17 AM PST

[UK] So two months ago I purchased an upgrade type thing for my cousin's online game. I'm not sure whether it's significant but my cousin was diagnosed with Magical Thinking OCD five years ago, which means he has thoughts in his head telling him to do specific things or follow certain patterns otherwise "bad things" will happen. I entered my card details and made sure no "save card" boxes were ticked. The transaction went through so I went back downstairs, taking my card with me and I thought nothing more of it.

Last night my aunt called me in tears. She said she was monitoring my cousins email account when she came across a monthly statement from the gaming website. She noticed four transactions, which come to £78. She said she and my cousin are both mortified and he is deeply sorry. She said he didn't know it was coming from my bank account as the online game doesn't suggest a card when you make a transaction and it also doesn't ask for the three security digits on the back of the card like most online transactions do. My aunt said she will speak to me today to figure out how to get my money back, as simply put they don't exactly have this type of money spare.

Upon further inspection last night, I found out that thirteen more transactions had taken place the month before, adding an extra £210 to the total. I'm honestly pretty upset with the situation and I've never found myself in a problem like this before. I looked at reporting the transactions but my bank said that they would have to inform the police as these would be classed as fraud, so obviously I don't want to go down that route. What do I do?

My father died from complications from cancer a month after he was given a clean bill of health.

    Posted: 05 Mar 2018 02:37 AM PST

On October 26th of 2017 my father was diagnosed with both colon and bladder cancer. That same week they removed most of his colon and got the cancer from his bladder. Sometime in late november/early December they had him do a 3 hour chemo treatment. Then on December 24th he had surgery one more time to remove the rest of the cancer. This all occurred in Missouri. On January 21st we flew to Florida to vacation with my brother. 2 days after arriving to Florida my dad got really sick and we admitted him to the hospital. Doctors said his stomach was RIDDLED with cancer and that he didn't look good. On the 27th, he was gone. I'm wondering if I need to take action against the two hospitals in Missouri that treated him. It seems like this would obviously be medical malpractice and wrongful death but I have no idea.

Where should I start and what does this process look like and how long does it take? I live in Nebraska so I don't know if I contact someone here, or Missouri, or Florida where he died...

Road rage motorist hits boyfriend on bicycle when both were stopped at a stop sign (SF,CA)

    Posted: 04 Mar 2018 09:33 PM PST

My boyfriend was bicycling in San Francisco and stopped at a stop sign. He heard a horn and turned around to see a guy in the car behind him being really aggressive.

BF turns around and says "what the hell is your problem?" The motorist then steps on the gas to hit him. Not at full speed, we're guessing 5-10mph(?) because he instinctively moved/shifted his bike as he saw him coming so he didn't feel a full impact. (It's kind of blurry for him when retelling this part as he was in shock and pumped with adrenalin).

Another driver sees the entire thing play out and offers to be a witness and leaves the scene.

Officer comes to file a report interviews the motorist, BF, and witness (via phone). Officer then asks what BF's endgame is, like what he wants to do. BF says, "I don't know. I'm in shock. But I assume someone who assaults a person with a deadly weapon (car) would at least be issued a citation." Officer asks if he is injured, BF says, "I don't know, but I will see a doctor."

Insurance is exchanged and the motorist is let go.

BF is completely bewildered as a person in a car who used his vehicle with the intention to inflict harm seems to be getting away scot free unless a lawyer is sought.

BF understands that he was not injured (he went to one doctor visit to get checked out) and his bike was not damaged but does this motorist get away with a slap on the wrist?

Any help is appreciated. We've been very distressed by this whole thing.
