Can anyone explain why stocks seem to have moved up so drastically this morning?

I'm seeing the 5 day graphs of $MU, $MSFT, $CSCO, $QQQ and they all have this straight up line, what happened?

    CRSP Crisper Therapeutics

    Posted: 09 Mar 2018 06:31 AM PST

This has been on my watch list for over a year (since I first heard about Crisper gene editing)... damn if I shouldn't have bought a year ago, or months, or last week, or yesterday... it just will not stop. Seems like constant 5% daily gains. Anyone else miss out on this one or think it's worth getting in now?

    Unhappy with TDAmeritrade

    Posted: 09 Mar 2018 01:31 PM PST

I had my personal portfolio on Scottrade for years, and loved it. I thought their resources were great and loved the FRIP, since switching over I cant stand going onto my account. The platform seems like it was designed in afew days, and its hard to research a stock. Has anyone else felt this way and what are the alternatives?

Up 36% in 10 months, sold all tech today. What do nao?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2018 08:47 AM PST

I've been very tech and biotech heavy (90% of portfolio). I have held everything for the past 10 months and I'm up 36%. I just sold everything ( I know I should of waited a year but I got impatient/nervous being up 10% this month), looking to start fresh on Monday and diversify more. Anybody have specific alternative stocks to tech with a similar growth rate? Otherwise I'm just gonna buy back in after the next tech dip which I'm assuming is coming up soon.

AMD Dropped 2.59% to 11.66, discounted enough to buy?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2018 12:15 PM PST

I recently bought AMD at 10.09 and sold at 13.59. Now that it's fallen back down near 11.66, is it at a discount for either a long-term investment or another swing trade? I certainly want to reinvest in the company but I'm unsure if it will drop further below this or if it's worth it at the current price. I see most 1 year targets are around 14.25+. Thoughts?

What to do when a stock does very well?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2018 08:37 AM PST

I know the answer to this question may seem blatantly obvious, but I don't have one myself. I'd imagine it depends on the individual scenario, but perhaps there's another motto to live by. Should I try to secure my profits by selling outright? Should I set a loose stop loss? Should I just hold? Does it depend completely on the current company dynamics?

-- Personally MU has given me a solid 35% run as my largest position, so feel free to make your response in reference to that situation particularly

    $INTC

    Posted: 09 Mar 2018 08:47 AM PST

So I sold at 50.55 a few days ago, I thought it was overbought and would drop back down so I can get back in. But it keeps climbing! Now the time to buy or should I wait?

The Value in China Tech Equities

    Posted: 09 Mar 2018 08:01 AM PST

Constitutional changes in China allowing Xi Jinping to serve a third term has removed potential political uncertainty. Chinese tech stocks offer significant value given the market size the companies operate in, and the potential for growth they offer in contrast to tech companies in more established markets. China tech equities are rebounding after sliding in recent trading. Several of these stock with U.S ADRs, such as Alibaba (+1.24%), Momo (+1.85%), and Baidu (+0.94%), are poised to continue their upward momentum into today's trading.

Joint Holder on Stock account question

    Posted: 09 Mar 2018 10:03 AM PST

When my kids were little I started a DRP account and I am the custodian. Well, the kids are now over 21 and I want to transfer the stock to them. Unfortunately, it requires a Signature Guarantee, which I am having some difficulty in getting where I live right now. (I am encouraging my kids to re-invest in a mutual fund.) I was thinking we could just sell the stock, get the funds, and then the kids could invest in a mutual fund. BUT...I am afraid that if the stock is sold, then I am responsible for the taxes.

If the stock is sold, who is responsible for the tax burden?

Concerns with stock related to blockchain.....

    Posted: 09 Mar 2018 01:18 PM PST

OBVIOUSLY. But seriously...I am in a few like $MARA and $DPW as a small position. I know these were previously used to "Pump and dump", but now they're just steadily going down. There is little to no info about them out there. Any ideas about what's going on?

Wanting to invest in some stocks I can hold until retirement.

    Posted: 09 Mar 2018 08:40 AM PST

To make a long story short, I'm 25 and I have ~$1200 to invest and I'd like to buy stocks for my Fidelity portfolio. I currently don't own any stock on this platform (though, I do have a R-hood acct with AAPL, BBY, and MCD). I'm new to r/stocks but y'all seem to have sound advice. Any and all information is welcome.

Edit: thanks for the advice everybody! You were all a great help. I bought 12 shares of DIS which I'll sit on now. However, I looked into all of your suggestions and I have a pretty good idea of how I'm going to diversify once I have enough money to reinvest.

    Berry Global Group Inc (BERY)

    Posted: 09 Mar 2018 12:04 PM PST

Anyone who can read charts and knows how to analyze a company want to tell me what they think of BERY (Berry Global Group Inc). As someone getting older, creakier, and need more medications, it caught my eye that they all come in Berry canisters. Just wondering if they would be a good company to throw some $ into. Or if someone could explain what I should be looking at myself to make that determination, that would be very helpful too.

    Any hope for $CSIQ?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2018 11:58 AM PST

Solar has been pretty shit lately. $CSIQ, which was once a solid company, has been under $20 a share for several years now. I have a decent position in this company, but it seems fairly hopeless, especially with talks of taking the company private.

Any thoughts if this company can rebound, or should I take my losses and invest what I have left in another sector?
